    Hello again, Lucy. I just came from another of your videos (How you would learn AWS cloud if you could start over), and I have a helpful (hopefully, that is how it is meant) suggestion regarding your video format. In the video above, you bring up specific points (for example, the three role goal and the 20 hour paragraph), but you do not leave them onscreen long enough to read them. I think leaving them onscreen for a couple of more seconds will help the viewer remember your points.
    The second thing I wanted to ask about is the hands-on experience. From what you stated in this video, the AWS projects you are recommending would seem to get your resume in front of the hiring manager. Do you know of people that have successfully interviewed, or have even been hired, having only these types of projects on their resume and not real-world experience?
    The preparing for the interview is very good information, especially knowing as much about the company you are interviewing for as you can. And speaking of that, there is always the "Do you have any questions for me?" part of an interview. Do you have any recommendations regarding the questions someone should ask when being interviewed by Amazon?
    Thank you, again, Happy Holidays!

    ummm all the tech companies like Google, Amazon, Microsoft etc ... are on massive layoffs so if you have zero to little experience it could be very very hard to land a job atm
    i actually think getting certifications are the biggest lie out there, i've met a lot of certified ppl who had no idea how to build a simple serverless application or had no idea how to solve a simple DNS issue! focus on learning the basics and learn Networking (i can't stress this enough)! i feel a lot of ppl just memorize to pass the certification and then struggle on simple things so DON'T WORRY ABOUT CERTIFICATIONS honestly! it's like buying a top brand snowboard and you don't even know how to snowboard

    • @ikjon23
      @ikjon23 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      this is more of the advice we need in the tech community. My brother works for Amazon help desk tier 2 and he always encounters people who make MORE THAN HIM and they barely know how to do their job properly because all they did was memorize some questions and pass a cert.
      Im in the process of trying to get certified in AWS solutions architect. Could you elaborate a lil more on the networking aspect and how it pertains to Cloud?

    • @DamienMalakay
      @DamienMalakay ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@ikjon23 i've met/worked with some engineers who had like 5 Cloud Certs but when it came down to it they didn't know. If you wanna be a successful engineer you need to learn Networking (protocols, ports, firewalls, dns, routing etc ...) these are so vital that without them you have trouble doing a lot of things. You need solid Linux knowledge and understand the concepts of services in the Cloud 'cause in the end the services are the same, they just have a different brand

    • @ikjon23
      @ikjon23 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have my SAA as well, have built projects using AWS resources, and tailored my resume. Even applying to application support roles Im not even getting interviews. I have 10 yrs of finance experience and im trying to lean on those transferrable skills. I think if you dont have a CS degree, or existing experience from a previous role, its extremely hard to get into a role cold.
      I think thats just the reality of it. You need a cosign from someone. Still working on that myself. I dont think stacking certs is the move anymore as return on investment isnt guaranteed at this point. I think networking is the key. Good luck!
