Looking at all these great cars, they make me want to cry and miss the old days where I could see these cars in my driveway!!! Nick, thanks for brining me back to the old days where everyone had a great car! Wow, that must be in heaven. Now if they just had a show on old big bikes and choppers!!!
Nick has his doctorate in Mopar.... an incredible wealth of knowledge!!! Just like my now deceased friends...i mention to honour them...Rejon and Real Phaneauf. 2 brothers that died far too young but their 69 340 Dart and 70 6 pack 440 Challenger were always appreciated in our little Canadian town in the 70s!
Hi Nick I think this Road runner is one i owned and restored in appx 2006. If the vin is 184450 this was my car. It was originally a 383 ,B5 blue .. I put the Vitamin C on it. I did ALL the work, Paint, Interior and I built the Hemi.. It is a 472 not a 426. I stroked it.. It has 12to 1 compression with Diamond pistons and a Callies crank.. Took me 2 years to restore it.. Thanks for the videos Nick!!!
I owned a '70 440 six pack 4speed GTX with the same air grabber fresh air . 2nd & 3rd gear shifts @ 6,000 rpm....brutal for the day . Most Hemi owners I would believe, would be pretty surprised at how the 440 and tripower setup ran. That Hemi Roadrunner is absolutely gorgeous and reminded me of my own vehicle
When we were young a guy in the neighborhood worked for a Chrysler/Plymouth dealership in a nearby town, and he ordered the 1970 Road Runner decked out like that one, complete with the air grabber and we always stopped what were were doing and stared as that car drove by..still amazing, and one of the nicest vehicles I have ever seen, and that 1 at your place is a beauty! Glad to see you back on the Challenger too!
Thing is some people have been at it just as long as you have Nick. But they do not have the passion for it as much as you do. Its when we take pride in something that we apply good skill and get it done right like what you do at your shop.
@@NicksGarage This sure looks like my old buddies RR. 1970 Hemi 4 spd 4:10 geared hemi orange hdtp. which there were only 75 made and i hear about 30 were 4spds. Ill never forget the first time I saw an Orange Super Bee or Road Runner, I was on my Bicycle up the street and saw my friends neighbor go by in one with stock wheels, I didn’t like it with skinny tires and hub caps, but the next day he went by it was jacked up with Cragers and wide tires. Then it was cool 😎 Jude Jordon
The 440 Six-Pack really helped horsepower. The 2 bbl flow rating is done at a different vacuum level than 4 bbl flow ratings, so they can't be directly compared. The 2 bbl carbs are rated at 500 cfm, front and rear and 350 cfm for the center carb. Using 4 bbl vacuum flow rating, all three carbs together work out to about 950 - 960 cfm. That's still a lot more than the Carter 4 bbl on the 440 Magnum. The 6-Pack intake and carbs are truly worth 40 hp over the 4 bbl carb. That's as good as it gets with the modern Edelbrock Performer RPM with an 850 carb and the 6-Pack was 50 years ago. Holley originally designed the 2 bbl carbs for the 1967 Corvette 427 tri-power engine for increased horsepower over the 1966 Corvette 427 855 4 bbl carb.
I remember them all when new when I was in high school. I opted for the Z/28's. In '74 I drove a 68 Z/28 to College, a 71 in '75, then new ones in 77, 78 and 80, then a 1970 Z28 in '81 which I still own today. All were 4 speeds. My fav Mopar is the 70 Challenger and Cuda without the rear spoiler.
gorgeous hemi road runner in vitamin c orange . back in the late 80s i had a 70 road runner factory 440-6 v code . it was fy1 lemontwist with the air grabber .
The small stuff and being detail oriented, is what separates the good from bad and Nick definitely brings the goods. I've been around Chrysler products since owning my first car, which was a 68 charger and the beginning of my Mopar addiction. But don't know all of the details like he does, and is really good at it. Kinda like Mark Worman of GYC, but without the freakiness LOL. Although it's not what I've done for a living, and is more of a hobby. My third Mopar was a 70 RR, but it was just a bare bones 383 & 727 and unfortunately not a hemi car. Definitely the working man's machine back in its day though, and still cool
Man-O-Man, that roadrunner is exceptionally nice!!! Milestone was reached in this one with the Challenger officially becoming a roller. Great video, Keep'em coming!
A 426 Hemi roadrunner has always been my dream car. What a gorgeous 1970! Love the grabber hood also, wonderful option. As always Nick you do an excellent job on everything you do. I have said it before and I will say it again, I wish you lived in my neck of the woods! I would bring all of my stuff to you and my performance issues would be solved. Look forward to visiting your shop again. Really enjoyed this video Nick! You friend John A. from Portland, Oregon.

Thank you for showing that Roadrunner.... f....ing sick! I so appreciate someone who is dedicated to the small details. It takes more patience /knowledge / dedication than most people have to make it happen.
Nick, this was my car that I bought in late '69 except for the hemi.....why oh why did I trade it for a damn Chevy 4 years later. Sob......People never tired of seeing the air grabber come up and it did make a difference, especially on cooler days. I remember looking down the nose of it and it was a thrill that I never tired of. That miserable Nova was pumping oil at 30,000.....live and learn. Your Kowalski project is looking prime......whadda mean? Over budget....there is no budget on a dream. Keep the Faith, Nick.

Hey Nick. I need to make an appointment. I want to be returned to my factory original condition. The way I came from my mother. I`m in pretty rough shape but you seem to work miracles.
My favorite way to start Monday's watching Nick's garage working with beautiful old cars muscle cars and if you bring it to Nick's it's done the right way thanks for sharing
Beautiful Road Runner! 1970 is my favorite year for this model. It's so nice to see this rare example with the Hemi and the Air Grabber. Thanks for showing all the details of the Air Grabber system. I gained some knowledge.
Nice Roadrunner. I know someone who would really like that one. He has the match to it, a '71 Charger RT in Orange/Black with the air grabber. His has the Orange bumpers and am/fm indash radio with a cassette on the console that would allow recording from the radio.
That’s one hell of a Road Runner, you were very gentle on her, I think if rubbed the rite way there would be a violent explosion of power, but the Maestro is gentle on the beast, for he can control his inhibitions towards it, Nick my friend keep em coming, we your loyal wait every week for more content
Looks like the Roadrunner that Shelley Long drove in the movie Brewster McCloud. Mopar fans that haven't watched that movie should watch that movie lots of good scenes with that car!
Had one identical color except 440 car I love that car I had it in late 80s no air grabber hood that was probably one of the best handling cars I had you could drive it sideways and it was so easy to drive wish I had it today I used to terrorize the cops with it back,in the old days had the most fun ever with that car good looking cars the drag car is a nice color also great video as usuall
I'm an old guy and a fan of the late 60's-early 70's muscle cars. I've owned and driven all of the brands. I'm guessing you never drove anything but Mopars back in the day. The torsion bar suspension was designed for straight on acceleration. Handling was not their forte. If you found yourself driving the car sideways, it's probably because you were out of control trying to catch the competition who was way ahead of you. There's a reason Mopar dumped that type of suspension long ago. lol
Beautiful Road Runner. I'm not a fan of the shock orange but the styling of that 2 door brings it on. Very nice car. Hadn't realized that the air cleaner shows ...Duster..on it.
Dr. Nick; where Chiltons goes if they have a question about originality! A few of my mechanic friends are the same way, they always got the mysterious fixes other garages couldn't repair. Another thing customers did was come to them initially, they'd give them a fair price to do the job properly, but they'd go elsewhere to save a few bucks. The other garage would sometimes screw up the job,and guess who they'd bring the car back to, to fix their screw up. So instead of just paying for the job to be done right in the first place, now they're paying extra to get it done right! You know, ya know? That bird is beautiful, but given a little t.l.c. from the master, and she'll be the Belle of the ball, thanks to Nick and Company. Quality and integrity. Thanks again guys! Great luck at the track!!!▪☆☆☆▪
Nick, great video the Kowalski project is coming along nicely. You got to make some more videos on that car so we can see how it goes together. Hey that orange Road Runner is really really nice, man I wish I had one of those!
Not very many across the u.s. That I would consider a total , complete restoration expert on vintage muscle cars , particularly mopars .. But NICKY , you are that guy that can do it all on em . There is a lot to be said about that . When I do find a 1972 roadrunner , or a cuda I want FULLY , and meticulously restored to original concours condition , I'm shipping it to you , and when it's done im spending a week hangin around visiting , maybe even wrenching a bit on cars . I hate messin with new cars . But you gimme a vintage 60s - early 70s MOPAR . Then I don't mind working on them , it's a pleasure and fun to do . Their more predictable to analyze and repair . Thanks for another great vid Nicky . I had a 70 roadrunner with a 383 in it , 4 speed . I blew that motor and put a 440 in it . Wish I had that car back now , in limelight green .
That's a sweet Hemi Road Runner and glad the owner wants to do everything back to factory just like new and who better to bring it to then the Mopar king himself Nick LOL!!
Giasou Nikola, Here I am in downtown town Saigon, pouring rain miserable wet humid day what better than watching Nick's Garage on the 11 th floor besides the pool bar at AU LAG LEGEND HOTEL, the view is spectacular whilst having a Vietnamese Milk Coffee. A 1970 Hemi Roadrunner 4 speed doesn't get better than that truly doesn't. Kowalski looking awesome coming along nicely. Hlias from Australia
The road runner has it all. Love the colors that orange on the exterior the interior is perfect pistol grip is a must then the Power plant well what can you say vacuum operated air intake must produce a few extra ponies . The only thing I would change is tires. Good luck getting rubber that you can launch off the line and is good for extended high speed use. Oh if only I had such a problem. Great video Nick keep them coming. 🏁🚖
Ahh, I got my Monday morning video from Nicks Garage. Love that Plymouth Hemi, was hoping for a nice big smokey burnout. I'll never figure out the way of the cheap minded folks who take a rare Chrysler product to a friend of a friend not once, but twice. Still not working right, and they watch your videos, now finally you have it to fix correctly (after you make a diagnosis of what the other guy did wrong) at my Dad's electric motor business he called these jobs basket cases. Haha. If I still had one of the 60's Chrysler products from my teenage years, I'd gladly make the trip from Arkansas to Canada and have the job done right the first time with Nick. Till next Monday, have a great week.
That looks great! I had a blue '69 Roadrunner 383 in 1970 when I was 16. Another guy at school had same color as mine but it was a '70 model with a 440 magnum.
Waow what a stunner! A 70 Hemi Road Runner With the air grabber I'd drive it winter or summer Meep Meep! In the Hemi Orange It's right up my street! The devil's in the detail if you can't afford it to fail to Nick's Garage you better blaze a trail.
That 70 Hemi Road Runner is a beautiful car. I had a 70 GTX 440 auto with air grabber. It was 5 years old when I bought. Quarter panels and bottoms of the fenders were already rotted. I ended up scrapping the car after a year. I kept the engine and hood. I don't know what happened to the hood.
I had this friend I called him the rotten tech Kid. He was a good guy . He asked me to help put some aluminum heads on his 68 427 4 speed impala. Well h started with out me. I got there and he had the heads already I did a double take I saw these.aluminum shavings . His dad had a Rand air machine he used an impact gum to tighten the head bolts. Eek ButI told him how to find top dead center like you did Nick He stuck a screw driver in the hole and it got stuck I said don’t touch anything we’ll pull the head . No such luck He snapped off the screwdriver into the cylinder. He was hoping to free it up . I’m glad he was wealthy
Best way to start a week! But seeing an air grabber hood reminds me of when I passed on a complete air grabber hood - the entire thing - for $300 forty years ago at a salvage yard in Belleville IL
Nick, thank you so much for showing us that Road Runner, I just love that car. Next to the Hemi Cuda it's my favorite Mopar. Please don't get me wrong, I love the Challenger too, but that Road Runner really turns my crank! Nick, you are a treasure of information and a guardian of automotive history. Please keep up the great work! Alex G. 🤓

Thanks for another great vid Nicky . I had a 70 roadrunner with a 383 in it , 4 speed . I blew that motor and put a 440 in it . Wish I had that car back now , in limelight green .
Hemi Road Runner is an ABSOLUTE DIAMOND👍🙏❤😎
That is one beautiful Roadrunner WOW!
Good Morning Nick Thanks for the ride, keep up the Awesome work and 3rd time is a charm
That's a sweet Hemi Road Runner and glad the owner wants to do everything back to factory just like new and who better to bring it to then the Mopar king himself Nick LOL!!
Love those roadrunners
Can’t beat a 1970 road dawg Love these cars
Right on.
Giasou Nikola,
Here I am in downtown town Saigon, pouring rain miserable wet humid day what better than watching Nick's Garage on the 11 th floor besides the pool bar at AU LAG LEGEND HOTEL, the view is spectacular whilst having a Vietnamese Milk Coffee.
Thanks for that little EVO clip one episode later! I hope Nick apricates that car.
Evenin nick..nice to finally see kowalski moving.. somewhat.. lol..have good nite!
@Mike D. Gets great gas mileage this way. ha ha
I used to love the hood mounteed indicators ,I wish theyd bring that back. and the liottle penta star on the passenger side too
Just watched the end of the video and the sweet sound of the motor in the Road Runner is pure car porn.
That’s one of the nicest 70’s Roadrunner I’ve ever seen and love the orange paint job.
I had a 70 RR, but with a mere 383 including the decal down both sides. Miss that car
Beautiful 70 Hemi Roadrunner, love watching your channel
Another awesome episode from Nick's Garage , love this place !
thanks for sharing. wish you were closer, i'd have to hang out to sop up all I could learn from you
Can't wait to see Nick get into that "bad luck" 440.
Yeah I know the guy who own it
The guy had bad luck with champion performance on south shore he paid full price for questionable job
Right on, Roberto.
Each comment, a concerto.
@@NicksGarage Cheers to that I'll drink some beers! All hail the ale! Wiley Coyote always on the road runners tail XD
Your work does the bragging for you Nick..plus your excellent crew...what a team..
Beautiful RR and it's a 4 speed! ❤
A real sweetie.
Who the hell gives the thumbs down on our old school warrior” Nick” must be those nerd pinto and vega owners who stuffed v8 into them!😂
It wasn't me I swear!
Reg. You have to know what you are doing when you stick a screwdriver in the plug hole.
Alex G. 🤓
Beautiful road runner and rare.
As usual the God of Mopar has placed his hand on the Road Runner and blessed the beast
I love nick’s passion in everything he does it’s so inspiring
That's a beautiful road runner.👍👍
