Fast & Furious 4 Plymouth Roadrunner | From Stunt Double to This

  • We finally got to shoot my friend Jamie's 1970 Plymouth Roadrunner after almost 2 years of waiting!! This car was originally a stunt double for Steve Strope's "Hammer" used in Fast and Furious 3 "Tokyo Drift" and again in Fast 4. This car was on deck to be the car Lettie rolled and thankfully it never had to get rolled. Jamie brought this car back from being a stunt double to one of the best restomods I've ever seen.
Sit back and enjoy this badass...

    @Buzbikebklyn1 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

Wow, this one brings back memories.
I had a 1972 Dodge Charger, with EVERY single part built or rebuilt.
It was an "all iron" build.
I used a 440 "hour glass" water passages block out of a 1970 mobile home, bored out to a 472".
The factory "904" cylinder heads that were decked and ported and polished.
Nascar valves and rocker system and a new at that time a hydraulic roller cam.
I also used a cross ram intake, with dual 780 cfm Holly's on it.
700 HP was a big deal back then....
    Now? not so much...lol
Torque was the name of the game with my car as well.
At that time it still used torque bars in the front suspension.
Factory disc brakes from a truck mounted all around.
Dana 60 rear axle and Nascar shocks.
There was no such thing as big inch wheels back then, so I used 16" centerline wheels 50 rears , 40s in the front with
    "BFGs" tires.
A 8 point roll cage, anti fire system, Autometer gauges...
Mine did have a radio/cassette with 6 speakers.
No "beep beep" horn, I used two air truck horns and two standard MOPAR horns that made people jump in front of the car.
She was painted "HEMI" orange after two weeks of sanding.
I have to tell that guy that he did good.
The way of the muscle car will never die.
    T.

When I was a kid in the early 70s I used to ride my bicycle across the bridge over the LA River and look over/down at Keith Black's shop and dream of owning one of his Hemi race motors... never did but in 1978 I did own a Lime Green 70 Road Runner 440, airgrabber hood scoop, the works... sold to me dirt cheap by the VP of the LA Brotherhood of Street Racers... Big John. I drove that car to Cal Jam II... lol did donuts in the dirt parking lot with a crowd of people cheering me on. One of the dumbest decisions of my life was selling that car a couple years later. The clown I sold it to wrecked it into a telephone pole right after he bought it. I've always wondered if it was scrapped or repaired.
Now the price of a 70 Roadrunner is far out of my reach but I do have a 64 Dart GT and a couple of 300C Hemi AWD and Dodge trucks lol so I am loyal to my favorite brand.
The car in this video is a beautiful representation of what the ultimate Road Runner would look like. BTW I love Jamie's custom hood and all the mods. Great job!
Yeah I'm a F&F fan because that is the lifestyle I lived... lol all American muscle then though... I'm not prejudiced I have a pretty quick V6 Acura... Unfortunately street racing put me in jail and lost my driver's license for 3 years for "23109A Exhibition of Speed Contest" in 1979... so that ended that pastime. I still have the faded ticket. I actually have a collection of tickets... lol
Clocked @ 135 on Firestone Blvd in South Gate CA... I did win against the 67 Camaro though... That was in a 64 Nova SS 350 race motor and Muncie M22... another car I wish I never sold.
I do still like to put the pedal to the metal occasionally lol
Thanks for the flashback Autopia LA

I wanted that car in the worst way.
He sold it while I was gone one weekend.

    AWESOME looking Bird!
    Simply astonishing car!
    (I spent $800 for mine.)
Put the pistol grip back in.
Funny fact, that pistol grip could
be EASILY removed, but you needed
2 sets of feeler gauges. Slip a 20
    thousandths gauge, on either side
of the base of the shifter handle,
and it could be pulled out of the
    shifter. Insert a Comp Plus
handle in, and you have 1 inch
from first to third, and 3 inches
    from first to second.
    My 383 A833 would leave a blank
spot, on a 1 to 2 shift, you could
cover, with an 8.5 X 11 piece of
paper. That was with the Comp
    Plus handle.

Beautiful car and I'm glad he's the one who owns it because his love for it really shows.. Also how that taillight works when using the blinker is just really awesome!.. Thanks for sharing as always and I hope that everything is going well with you and yours. 🙏🍻

Very cool build. With “Mopar” being cast in the block, this is a newer block. Also, fuel KB Hemi blocks don’t have water jackets… (KB was my grandfather- great to see his name!)
