@@georgecortes3416 I think the Mario you're referring (the original one, in DK and DK Jr.) Is actually Mario's dad, Jumpman, and the Og DK is now Cranky Kong, and DK Junior is Modern DK or Modern DK's Dad. That means Og Pauline is Mario and Luigi's Mum, and for some reson didn't age. Jumpman actually falls and DIES at the end of DK jr.
Peaman 42 Huh? I looked up the Super Mario Wiki and it doesn’t mention Jumpman being Mario’s father nor Pauline being Mario’s mother. I know it’s confusing, but the Mario from the OG Donkey Kong game is the same one from the Mario vs. Donkey Kong games, Super Mario Odyssey, among others since Pauline does make appearances in those games and befriends Mario instead of recognizing him as her son.
Mario has been evil in Super Mario Sunshine and other games too, so this isn’t the only time.

There's actually a fan story, 'Fusion Bros' mainly focusing on Luigi and Waluigi, with Mario portrayed in his familiar 'good guy' persona. However, it hints at his dark past of running the circus (the old Game & Watch, besides Donkey Kong Jr.), neglecting and possibly abusing the animals, and even bullying on Luigi - who was his assistant at the time and cared for the animals. The author is quite aware of how Mario was in the early 80s, but bridges it with the red plumber's current incarnation. I still find it disturbing.

I just love how Coleco were soooo cleverly sneaky with their releases!! They intentionally made their games look worse on rival systems to boost sales of their Colecovision systems as a superior system. Oddly enough in this commercial, they only show the coleco version and no footage of the other two (only a coming soon). In fact, they never showed the gameplay from those systems and there were still no screenshots on the released boxes. They did this so it would still sell enough licensed copies on rival consoles and still make a big profit without people knowing they were complete garbage, and sell tons more of their best version on their own system! Sneaky little f*ckers!

@david turton What are you talking about? Go look it up yourself. Videogame wars was always something that existed, and Coleco back then had the exclusive rights to Nintendo's Donkey Kong. Everyone wanted part of this game, it was a crazy hit. They just weren't going to share it up easily though to rivals while they had their own system on the market, so they intentionally made the games look worst on platform rivals to boost sales of their own systems. Infact, Donkey kong was also bundled with the Colecovision.

Head-Canon: Donkey Kong is being held in prison for his crimes of kidnapping, trespassing on a construction site, unlawful use of barrels, and multiple counts of attempted carpenter-code.
Donkey Kong Jr. is going up there to explain to JumpMan (Mario) how this was all because his father forgot to take his medicine that morning.
Interesting game about morals. Mario did the right thing and saved his girl from the gorilla and locked him up. Not for sadistic reasons, but because donkey long was too dangerous to be left free. Then you have dk Jr trying to save his father, unaware of his crimes and sees Mario as cruel when he really isn't. He is just doing what he must.
Well actually Mario wanted revenge so he locked him up and tried to kill his son, thankfully the GameBoy version is a completely new story

He had abused Donkey Kong(his pet) and it all leaded to DK(Arcade) where Donkey Kong steals his girlfriend and puts her up high in a construction site to annoy Mr. Video/ get revenge. Then after the final cutscene Mr. Video had put Donkey Kong in a cage and yata yata yata, blah blah blah

@@fran5678can I harshly disagree. It's much more likely that the game and watch game either took place between DK94 and dk junior, or the most probable case, is simply retconned out of existence. For starters, it's out of character for Mario, especially considering how hes saved Bowser before and has treated Cranky's grandson well alongside a halo appearing over his head when he dies, proving his innocence. It was also noted that Miyamoto stated that the story was that Mario had him locked up so he got mad, we dont know why, but considering in the DK94 intro we see him breaking down a brick wall casually, its safe to say that he was locked up because he was a threat to others. The line from DKC2: "I didn't! Whisking off maidens and chucking barrels, seven days a week I was!" and the fact he disturbed Stanley's green house further support this claim. Back on topic, another way to debunk this is with yet again, DKC2, He considers Mario the second best hero of all time (Only second to Diddy Kong). If Mario really did beat him, I dont think cranky Kong would consider him so positively. All in all, Considering the game and watch game is so obscure and has countless contradictions even by Mario standards, I don't think it should be a point of reference
If we are going to refer to his actions of harming dk junior, Considering how much of a threat donkey kong was, as I've previously establisbed, him hurting dk jr was admittedly justified. In fact, considering that dk junior doesnt have a halo when he dies, he was simply knocked out.

It relates to Miyamoto's perspective on villains: In the original Donkey Kong, Mario is the hero, Pauline is the hostage and Donkey Kong is the villain. Now here, Mario is the villain and Donkey Kong is the hostage and Donkey Kong Jr. is the hero.
It's a bit like how some games suggest Bowser isn't as evil as he likes to make himself out to be.
