I had these in my M3 but it developed a short. That makes the window go up and down on its own. After slamming the window into the door frame I removed them and put the originals back in
I bought these and I read stories of Tesla owners who had the same problem. Unfortunately, many of them slammed the door with the window all the way up. Thus shattering the window. I did not install them.
Woah. Thanks for this video. This confirms that people with aftermarket puddle lights are damaging their windows due to product shorting and leaving down in up position. TY
This install appears to be easy enough where even I could do it! I may end up getting both sets of lights as they seem to add to the looks. On a side note, I am away from home for a few weeks and am using the mobile connector. I was pleasantly surprised to be getting 5 mph of charge!
Be careful Dave. I installed the same exact ones and they played havoc on my windows and the passenger window cracked when apparently the window somehow rolled all the way up while the door was opened. Also when the door was opened the mirrors folded. It is a shame because the lights were amazing.
Dave, did you have any issues with your windows after installing the puddle lights? I have read comments on line where people are saying windows are cracking because of the different wattage between the original lights and the Carwinder lights. Please advise. Thanks in advance for your support.
I have had no issues with my window. However, when you unplug the light, the window does go up or down I forget, however, I think it’s part of the same circuit, but I have had no issues.
Today I installed the Puddle and Well lights. I am glad I saw your video because these really improved the inside lighting and the Tesla Logos shining on the ground make your car stand out. I found the install to be quite easy. Puddle lights were easy to get at. The 2 Well lights came out easily for me. The hardest part of the entire process was getting the passenger Well light snapped in to its final resting position. I am in my early 70's with very arthritic knees and if I can do this, anyone can. Thanks for making your do it yourself videos. Tomorrow's project is to install the mudflaps.
It would be nice if Dave read the comments here and would reply to the concerns about shorting the window open/close control. I assume he is busy with other interests but it's not a good idea to promote a cosmetic product that can cause damage to your Tesla.
They look nice and I am tempted. They look like they are easy to install too. I am just concerned with the comments about the effects on the windows. Also, are you going to Dayton Hamvention this upcoming weekend?

Great video Dave. After a month or so please let us know if you experience any of the window issues mentioned by other commenters.

Looks great and after two years maybe I will buy them.
I’ll be installing mine in the morning. At work. Glad I saw this video. I wanted to use the right pry tool to pop them out. Thanks
Pretty Slick looking with new lights.
Hey Dave, did you order the blue footwell lights or did you order the white ones but they have a blue tint?

What material is your driveway? It’s so smooth
Any adverse effects on the windows afterwards? Strange the motors moved when installing .
No issues
Apparently these work on some cars and not on others. My son installed them in his M3 but I had the problems with window in my MY.
I think it’s in the circuit s when they are unplugged the window moves. Perhaps they are not plugged in correctly
Oh my. Easy and way cool. Great addition
2 extra for trunk/frunk?
Does this void the warranty?
Do you know how to replace the dome lights above to some brighter ones?! Its sooo dim I hate it.
The done light I don’t think are available but I’m looking
@@evdave528 Thank you! Would love to get an update if you find a solution!

Your panel is loose😳
I got similar lights, it isn't bright for some reason, got the red ones, have no clue what's up
Has Dave had any problems with his lights??? Maybe the installers did not snap in the light and the light came lose when the door closed
Wowza! I really need to stop watching all these youtube videos...about to go shopping now!!

After 2 years have you had any issues?
No they work great
will switching lights effect the Tesla warranty?
No it shouldn't
are these dimmed during drive in the footwell?
If they are not dimmed while driving & are too bright, you could turn off the interior ambient lighting feature via center screen.

Those lights have a different resistance comparing to original ones, whch confuses Tesla onboard computer and affects the door windows.
Yes, I stayed away after reading many complaints online about window damage.
Shame because they really look great.
Returning mine incase it causes an issue, not worth a smashed window for the sake of a nice light.
That driver side light was a B to take out.
