Thank you, Mickey--it's starting, but slow--I see glimpses, at times, and feel happy inside, sensing a flow upward. These are very fleeting, but I am staying "seated" for longer periods of time, using all techniques to stay in consciousness and be noticing that I notice. I do not watch TV, like I used to, and instead listen to yours and other's lectures. It has become my path, with No Turning Back!! From the moment I get up, I ask, many questions about my sense of awareness. I still get lost in my thoughts and mind, but not as much and am very happy with the progress. I am working on these things 🥰💚

It is a discipline to learn to not be distracted by what is happening to focus attention on who is observing. You are not what you are observing. The thoughts of the mind and feelings of the heart are the cause of disturbances, not the situation or circumstance. Who is observing, who is being disturbed.”
He speaks with extrem clarity. It sounds simple but it's very very deep. But what did he mean with"relaxing"? How can you relax when your thoughts and feelings are in turmoil? Do i have to focus on my breathing? Thank you!
He literally means, relax your body. Relax whatever muscles you may be tightening, stomach, shoulders, face, etc. It's hard to hold on to a blockage when you're relaxed. He also suggests that you lean away from the disturbance. In other words, let it flow right through you. Don't engage the disturbance. If focusing on your breathing takes your attention away from your thoughts/emotions, then yes, focus on your breathing. You could also repeat a mantra or place your attention in your Seat of Awareness. The point is to not feed the thoughts and emotions with your attention.

When something comes up, do we have to know where it originates from? A certain event that happened in childhood for instant? Do we have to know what emotion is coming up?
