16 large shrimp, peeled and deveined

One-half cup green pepper, sliced thin
    olive oil
1 cup salsa (use your favorite, mild to hot, depending on your preference)

    Directions
    Directions:
    1. Cook penne according to package directions, drain and keep hot. (if it's no boil pasta, just hold on to it until we throw it in at the end)
    2. Saute onions and bell pepper in one pan and brown the chicken and sausage in another. Throw them both in a pot when done and add raw shrimp. Cook for five minutes.
    3. mix alfredo and salsa.
    4. Add alfredo mix into pot with meat and veggies. Bring to simmer
    5. Add cooked pasta and just heat on low for about 5 minutes. If it's no boil then leave simmering with pasta for 8-10 minutes until pasta is tender.
    6. Serve topped with shredded mozzarella and basil leaves.

I used to work at Cheddars and started making this once I left. It was my favorite dish there. I usually make the Alfredo from scratch because I hate Alfredo out of a jar. Heavy cream, butter, half block of cream cheese (optional), and parmesan cheese. I use the salsa from the jar. I also used chorizo sausage instead of Italian, it gives it more of a kick. You can use Andouille sausage as well. It's all personal preference. Regardless this is an amazing pasta dish.

OK. I made this tonight. I've never had Cheddar's version but I did a few things differently only b/c I take into consideration others comments as well. I didn't use the shrimp or sausage this time but im sure the additional meat would have made a difference. I used only 1 cup of Alfredo sauce only b/c I hate how it tastes out of the jar. I just absolutely hate it out of the jar. Wish I knew how to make it fresh. I did use the basil however being southern and black I didn't grow up eating basil. I decided to try something new anyway and it did make a difference in the taste. I like basil now! I didn't use salt but i did use a no salt Cajun seasoning. I have to say it was good. Honestly I feel like there was a little something missing but i cant put my finger on it but it was good! I actually just ate most of my vegetables so for anyone looking for something w/ out meat this would still be a great dish. Thanks by the way for sharing with us!

Made this tonight from the video. Feeds a crowd. Not knowing how much to use, I used 4 chicken breasts, 5 mild Italian sausage links, and a pound of raw 31/40 fresh shrimp; and 1 full box of penne. I also used 1 green pepper and maybe 1/2 an onion I had to use. I had to make another cup of sauce. I don't have a crowd to feed, so this will be lunch and dinner for awhile. Next time I'll use a whole onion and mild salsa. I meant to have garlic bread but forgot all about it. This was pretty decent, all in all.

Hey Jack, One of the things that I love about your style is that you just roll with it! Every meal is a new adventure and sometimes you can nail it on the first try and sometimes you have to do a redo in the same session! I think it's awesome that you do your stuff in real time and have no pretensions. I really dig the experimental format, because it's something we all do, but nobody wants to publish that! right? I think it's awesome. You cook like all cooks cook. And every time learn something new. The only difference is you show the ACTUAL process and all the other cooks show the shiny perfected process. I want to see the Actual process. I feel like I learn more from failure than from success. So Thanks. Very cool. Keep up the good work man!

I made this but I didn't use the Italian sausage or the basil because those ingredients seemed more Italian, rather than Cajun. I used andouille sausage instead. The prepared sauce had a weird taste, or perhaps it was the brand I used. I would make it again, but would need to search for a better prepared Alfredo sauce. The Ragu was NOT that good. I would put a couple of sprinkles of Cajun seasoning too.

Darn...did all the shopping for this today...forgot the mozzarella and basil leaves...I have rubbed basil. Maybe just sprinkle it on top? Also, maybe parmesean instead of Mozzarella?
