The music (“Through a Looking Glass” by Philip Guyler) and the pacing makes it feel like we’re watching one of those BBC historical drama montages where, at the end, the hero, resplendent in his linen garment, drives off from his linen manufacturing plant to his country estate.
I was quite disappointed that the creators thought that all that was needed was visuals. I expected details on the process; I can’t believe there was NO additional information any of the workers pictured, for instance, couldn’t have offered.

That's the new age tech for ya. Before TH-cam & Audio they would have been forced to comply, but like the machines they make it on, it has made us immobile & less engaged.

Yes, VinnyAntoine, but it seems you did not. The video shows machinery and the modern technique of making linen. They should've called it "How is it made?".
Now yes, but I also clicked on the video expecting to learn about the old techniques for making linen, watching a machine do it's thing is hardly educational.
Retting of the Flax straw is done after pulling (harvesting ), The two main methods are "dew" Retting where the Flax stalks are left out in the field in "Stricks" To allow the elements to naturally rot the outer bark of the stems to reveal the inner fibres. The other method is "water" retting where the sticks or bundles of Flax are submerged and weighted down in Retting ponds so that the water rots away the outer bark of the stalks. There is research in to faster methods of Retting such as "steam explosion " and the use of enzymes to accelerate the process. After Retting then scutching.
Amazing innovation. Hoping they do not use glyphosate to dry the harvested crop. Although China probably does and Canada too which is a true crime against Nature and poisons humanity. Wish there was a way to find out where the flax is grown and how it is harvested. There is wide discrepancy in pricing of linen clothing and products online.

how do they come up with the average garmet is only worn 4 times? most barely own for seperate outfits lol company dress is worn thousands of repeated times.
Shouldn't we give a big thanks to those who started this practice by hand before there were any machines that make us more lazy & less enthusiastic about this great tradition?

Do you want flax hair for making threads from Egypt?
Judging by this music.. someone just overcame a personal flaw, saved the world, and in the end.. they got the girl.

My goodness!! I am blown away...✨
How it was done in the 1800's compared to how it is done now is just amazing.
I'd rather have seen how it WAS made like the title suggested.
Rodney Peters did u not watch the video?
Yes, VinnyAntoine, but it seems you did not. The video shows machinery and the modern technique of making linen. They should've called it "How is it made?".
Rodney Peters yeah this is how its made ?
Now yes, but I also clicked on the video expecting to learn about the old techniques for making linen, watching a machine do it's thing is hardly educational.
The linen was made before the video was edited and published. Therefore it's past tense. The linen *was* made.
❤helpful video❤

How can I open a linen manufacturer ?

What happened to the retting? Was that done before the bales were shipped to the factory?
Retting of the Flax straw is done after pulling (harvesting ), The two main methods are "dew" Retting where the Flax stalks are left out in the field in "Stricks" To allow the elements to naturally rot the outer bark of the stems to reveal the inner fibres.
