I remember how different vocal coaches dubbed Kyungsoo as "the professor of runs", "master of vocal runs" and the "god of runs" and Adrian McKinnon one of exo's producer and a kpop composer even said that "D.O. does runs like it's no one's business, really out of this world".

It was "History" that made me notice EXO but "What Is Love" made me stan even more. And I've started to be D.O biased after listening to his vocals at that song. And it's fine the you feel overwhelmed with them having many members but it'll be easy when you like get to know them more and more for long. It took me a month to recognize them all (names, faces, etc.). And trust me it's fun when there are more members.

I agree most exo song does not really showcase exo's full vocal potential especially Kyungsoo but EXO are monsters when it comes to live performances. I suggest you react to D.O's Tell me what is love the lyric version and the live version, it is a song that Kyungsoo sang together with his vocal teacher during exo's rookie days. You would really experience heaven with that song because of Kyungsoo's rifts and runs plus you'll be blown away by Kyungsoo's ability to be vocally at par with his teacher.
Kyungsoo's biggest flex of his vocals is in Tell Me What Is love. Man! that song is really mind-blowing and the runs is to die for though I suggest you don't watch the music video because that was half-assed done by SM. Their laziness or stinginess perhaps? May I suggest the lyric version instead because that one will satisfy your heart definitely. Always great reaction from you. Thank you ❤

i don't think there's anything wrong with reacting to content from the three ex-members who left!
one thing to know is that kris, luhan, and tao left SM under bad circumstances and they have grown into successful artists outside of SM and EXO. many fans of each of these three ex-members get frustrated when EXO-Ls continue to overly-associate them with the group today (i.e., refer to EXO as 12 or harass them in their lives about EXO and EXO members). they seem to be happier outside of SM and in their own careers, so (i think) we should respect that and treat them as talented soloists and individuals!
yeah i stan exo since their debut and it was so hard for all of us when they left exo. but it was better for them. they are really successful now. they are doing thing the like. for example kris's style of music is completely different from exo and he doesn't really enjoy dancing hard choreos. no he is doing his things and he is so good. also tao and luhan. the 3 of them are in the list of top5 chinese artists. (i think tao is n1. i'm not sure. maybe now lay is n1)
I agree that they shouldn't be harassed or constantly questioned about EXO, they're individual performers now, just as EXO is continuing as a group. Unfortunately I feel like it's the EXO-L's who are frustrated when people talk about their history as a bigger group, like pretending the three weren't part of it at all. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ But then I haven't taken an active part in any of their fandoms the past few years, so I might be missing something.
You are right, it is difficult to process the fact that there were 12 members, but for some reason when you know them better they are enough, not much, not little, enough. Even with the loss of three members many Exol still love them and we still see them as part of the family.

"The newer songs don't show off D.O.'s vocals as well as this", "There's so much Kyungsoo..." Stab in my heart. Yeah Austin, I'm a Kyungsoo stan since 2012 & in the beginning, the lines were divided btwn only 6 mbrs in K, with Baekhyun & Kyungsoo as main vocalists. Ever since K & M's merge with the departure of 3 chi mbrs, the lines distribution were further divided amongst 9. After Exodus album, Kyungsoo inevitably had less singing lines as compared to when they were only 6 in EXO-K. Though he did have alot of singing parts in The War but comparatively, there's more sharing of parts with the increase in no. of members. As for ex-mbrs, one of the mbrs' departure left a sour note cos apparently, even the mbrs didn't know, & "Suho revealed that Kris’ departure so close to the group’s big Seoul concerts was “physically and emotionally exhausting” for EXO’s remaining members, at a media conference". So I'd say, good luck to their future endeavours, but they are really, not part of the grp anymore. It's fine to react to them, but they are, like you said, history. :)
And since we're on the note of ex-mbrs, I'll juz add that, during that period, Kyungsoo rly rose to the occasion. Since K & M were supposed to be twin grps, (2 main vocalists, 2 rappers & 2 dancers each) when the Chi equivalent of Kyungsoo's position (ie, Luhan) left, Kyungsoo took over both the Chi & Kr parts in Exodus album. This was particularly impressive for me, cos Kyungsoo wouldn't have had the same training as the M counterparts, but he sounded absolutely spot on in Mandarin, even better than Chen (I'm Chinese speaking btw). This was also around the time when he started acting, but he stood in for both the singing & dancing spots left empty by the Chi mbr, & excelled in them. Overdose promo period was probably a rly challenging period for them cos with the mbrs' departure, the K mbrs didn't sleep to prepare for concerts & then went straight to Overdose promotion music stages.
Still Kyungsoo always has good lines, Minseok and Yixings voices became just illusions after the merge :(

But it is true, even though he doesn't sing as much as before, he's still the one with the most lines and others only get one line. He's not the one with the most lines in Tempo's album. I think he leads only in Ooh lalala & Smile on my face? Some sub vocalists have as much main lines as him. And he's a main vocalist. If we don't add his adlibs (which are not actual lines), it might even be worse. I'm not trying to grouse abt this, juz that, I think it wld be a fairer comparison if we refer to prior & post merge, agst his own parts, rather than involving the other mbrs. :)

It’s really worth it to check the EXO-M version of What is love sang by Chen and Luhan (who you don’t know) even just by yourself! It’s just as crazy as the EXO-K version

I get that 12 members are a lot. It was a lot in 2012 as well. I think that's why they split it up into EXOK & EXOM. But even in the EXOK videos they put the EXOM members in the videos for the predebut videos. So it can totally throw you off.
Also yes. The 3 members leaving was really sad but they were being very mistreated by SM Entertainment (some would say they still are being mistreated...). I think ZiTao touched on it that they didn't get beds, clothes, food, or even a decent sleep schedule as rookies and were worked to the bone for a dream that may or may not come true.
There is a lot to learn about the history of EXO as a group and its daunting. We have the members leaving, mistreatment, severe diets, overworking the idols to the point of exhaustion or sickness, and mistreatment from their company as well as award shows in the later years.
You got this Austin! It might be a good idea to look over the EX-Members just so you don't feel lost. The last ex-member to leave was in Call Me Baby.

The funny thing is, when someone leaked the information about the EXO-K line up a year or few months before their debut, Kyungsoo(DO) and Baekhyun were not on the list and 2 other guys(which are now part of other kpop boy groups but i forgot their names cause im not really familiar with the other groups) were on the list with Sehun, Chanyeol, Suho, and Kai but DO and Baekhyun ended up singing EXO's pre-debut song and it's a legendary song since they really showcased their vocals here 😭💕

I agree with what you've said about having too many members. I will say I really loved them even when they had 12 members but having less lines isn't really working well for them. It's heartbreaking to see them break apart but they're in a better place now. The members are given more time to show their potential and the former members are happy with what they do as well. Given the fact that you love Kyungsoo's voice so much I think it's appropriate that you react to his sm station with Yoo Youngjin, Tell Me What is Love ( the old guy 😂👀, the vocal coach/songwriter/producer ). Make sure you react to the full song since the version uploaded on SM's channel is short.
"The newer songs don't show off DO's vocals as well as this". Well that's mainly because Baekhyun and Jongdae get the most interesting vocal parts in title tracks. I can't wait for you to get into their b-sides, Kyungsoo's adlibs, runs and just voice in general throughout EXO's discography is pure ear candy.

I don't think saying that there are too many members is controversial. That's what my first thought was too, but you shouldn't be so pressured to know all the members. You can simply enjoy these videos and learn with time😊

As a baby EXOL also,I stan EXO after 3chinese members left. No one ask me to love them but I did. As watching their old videos and reality shows I can see their love to each other. EXOs Omma will be forever Suho and EXO Appa will be forever Kris Wu.

It's understandable to be overwhelmed 12 members is a lot and 9 to but the more you get to know them you kind of forget they are a big group lol. the 3 left cause of SM mistreatment and had good reasons for leaving, sm has a bad track record of mistreating their artists and their Chinese artists. they didn't leave cause of exo themselves or anything so it's fine to talk about them. Kris, Tao and luhan are solo artists now and have made a big name for themselves and a lot of exols also support them to, I do highly recommend checking them out as well in the future just take your time. also p.s the one at 11:48 was chanyeol ;) & 14:00 was baby sehun

Totally agree when you said "the newer songs don't show off Kyungsoo's vocals as this". That is what I have been thinking about for the past few albums. I just wish he could have the opportunity again to shine as one of the main vocalists of EXO. Not just doing adlibs in the background.

I feel like crying everytime I hear/watch those predebut masterpieces and more when someone reacts to them now.
I swear I was there in 2011 when SM started the whole predebut teaser era, starting with Kai, and I watched every single one of them knowing I will love them crazily. In one of those teasers, Mr. Oh Se Hun appeared in his solo teaser and I loved him since then, I knew he would be my ultimate bias in kpop.
And now, in 2021 watching ur reaction I can surely say I stan and had stanned the best group ever. Even tho I miss OT12 like crazy... actual EXO is just amazing... Love them so freaking much

Always makes me feel so many things when reactors go back to their pre-debut and debut songs; I was there since the teasers introducing us the members (btw what is love mv actually gathers all those teasers), got stabbed hard when what is love came out, cuz yeah, their vocals blew me away. Of course I got really interested right away but what really made me buy their first mini album and wanna keep track on their future music was their debut song, Mama. I won't spoil but it was SO strong and sooo daring and original for a kpop group to do that, plus it totally matched my style, was like a meeting between two genres I listened to the most haha. Then Exo showtime came out - their first reality show - and I totally fell in love with their personalities too (and Kyungsoo rolled me over and bye my soul). Before this even if I was around the same age as them (year 92 hehe) I couldn't help but babying them in my mind, they were so young and rookies and intimidated haha (I was used to older groups back then, maybe that's why huhu.) But I sure totally loved their music and respected their skills a LOT.
OH WOW I didn't think I'd write that much again but here I am haha. Fortunately people already told you everything you needed to know heh. Except maybe the storyline behind those mvs? I haven't checked every comments haha but I suppose someone did. See you soon aaah
