Taylor and I are actually great friends. Technically you can't really put us in a battle against each other based on vocal style, because we both hold up our own corner of the spectrum. But thanks for the promo guys!!
Can those of us with any appreciation for quality music just agree that these two bands are absolutely incredible? They're two different groups playing two different types of music, but all together blessing the world with their talents.
Comparing Taylor to Courtney Love, other than eye makeup, maybe is insulting! Taylor has a way better voice! To me Taylor has a unique sultry blues style voice that is so rare these days! I like Halestorm, sometimes even love them, including Lizzy, but sometimes she/they sound a bit too poppy or country for my taste. I was totally into Lizzy singing this song!

I like both, for different reasons. Taylor has an AMAZING mezzo (low) voice that Lzzy doesn't have, but Lzzy can hit high notes Taylor can't. Taylor is way sexier and "dark", and has great charisma, but yes, you can see Lzzy has more experience as a frontwoman. Either way, both are good in different ways, so this video makes a useless comparison in my opinion.
I'm a huge Pretty Reckless fan, and just the average fan of Halestorm, but Lzzy is totally incredible in this version of "Familiar Taste Of Poison". Holy shit. My fists are still clenched and my eyes still wet. Damn..... Taylor is great with "Just Tonight" as well, but it's a different kind of appeal with Taylor. Both are great in their own ways.
I honestly think it's hard to compare them. Lzzy is more pure rock based, with punk influence, whereas Taylor is gothic rock and grunge, from what I can tell. They are both amazing at what they do, they just do different things.
katy :P exactly like both are emotional in their own way. the grunge style of singing is emotion in itself but lzzy hale and taylor have story telling voices
I love Taylor Momsen, but Lzzy Hale is Dragonborn. It's just a dominant, blow-your-balls off kind of voice that no one can really match. She's the gold standard for female rockers.
I love the both of them!!! They are gorgeous and their voices are so strong and emotionally charged there is no way I could choose!! Both smokin' hot voices that I could listen to over and over without getting bored with their music so deliberately thought provoking!! KEEP US ROCKIN'!!
They are both incredible singers and performers. The crystal clear notes of Lizzy are really beautiful. But for my taste (just my opinion), the grittiness of Taylors voice almost reminds me of a Hardcore Stevie Nicks/Janis Joplin combination. I prefer a less polished sound, so ... Again, they are BOTH insanely talented, but I like The Pretty Reckless slightly more.
Taylor's voice is unbelievable! There is something so pure about it. She's not trying hard or pushing herself. It just is her voice. She's is so blessed and talented!
These two are total opposites in rock style. So comparing them is not really apples to apples. Taylor is like the female version of Curt Coban and Lzzy is the Pat Benetar of this Generation.

Don't get me wrong I love both of these bands so much, but I think Lzzy showed more emotion in that song and Taylor tried but it's kind of hard with her grunge voice since she smokes and drinks and does drugs. But I also love both of them!
As far as over all band performance The Pretty Reckless has it by a long shot because there music structure is fluent and dynamic in the instrumental parts as well the vocal, but the vocal effects is what killed it. Now a hint of effects would have been a lot better, but she flooded it. I think Halestorm's band performance wasn't bad but not good, its the music structure that killed it in this video. They seem to play the same thing over during a long period of time. In the other hand, Lizzy if badass and her voice is just awesome, she is one of my favorite vocalist, well that is alive. My absolute favorite is Dio, small little guy with an explosive voice. I think The Pretty Reckless has it in this vid.
Lzzy Hale and Halestorm overall, in my opinion, are a much better band. Arejay Hale is the most aggressive drummer I have ever seen, and Lzzy plays her, "Mz. Hyde" role exceptionally well. Lzzy also has range and diversity, (doing vocals with Lindsey Stirling), in "Shatter Me". And "Love bites" is the perfectly balanced metal song, (and video), in my opinion. I agree with MsGatoblanco's comment below that sees Momsen as a "demonic barbie doll". YES, The Pretty Reckless have some catchy songs. (I have the chorus of "Kill me" on constant repeat, cuz it speaks exactly how my broken life has gone). Most of the "live" footage I've seen of "Reckless", though, hasn't been very good. This live "Reckless" song was one of the better ones I've seen them do, I must say. I listen to BOTH bands, and will continue to do so. THANKS, "Marie Del Carmen", for posting this. It has sparked an interesting discussion and dialog. "And all the lost souls say".......

It’s hard to put these two against each other. They’re both phenomenal singers for what they do. Overall I think Lzzy seems a bit better live in general (I personally prefer the studio version of familiar taste of poison as in my opinion Lzzy was over embellishing in this performance) but Taylor does amazing as well ( however she seems to really favor her lower range live so it raises the question of wether she can actually properly hit the higher notes without some aid) and there’s just something about this performance that really resonates with me. There’s also several years in between them so it might also be a question of who has more experience. But as for emotion live, based on these examples I’d have to say Taylor won this time! Sorry Lzzy, I’m a huge fan of both bands though!
No reason to even choose! Being thankful that we have both! I’m almost 60 years old and I love rock n roll! You know kick ass music when you feel it!! 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
I love how this first song is put together it is well thought out a good performance and passionately delivered, The Pretty Reckless is equally as great because their range of energy has that impact that heaviness in a power groove of da blues!
I love both bands, and feel they have been huge keeping rock or hard rock going for the younger generations. Both of these Ladies can sing like crazy, and both can write music. I will pick both because they are the kinds of People we need to keep our form of music alive, and well for the future Generations.
Plamen Dobrev ya know I never really noticed til I read this but your definitely right, even down to the dipping down low during sustained notes and shit
I know it’s an old one but the “familiar taste of poison” performance fucks me up every time I watch it. The build up they created with how they performed it was just epic. Both of these females are incredibly powerful vocalists. Taylor gives me chills when she sings.
Being a huge fan of both I can't decide who wins. They have different sounds and you can't really compare them because of that. Lzzy has huge amounts of power in higher ranges but Taylor has all the power in the lower ranges and their tones are completely different. There's no winner.
i personally like both bands and enjoy getting to see live performances online whenever possible. idk either of them ever went on talk shows though. when i saw this video said live battle, however, i was expecting it to be the two bands collaborating as doing a live show battle on one song, lol. but that's ok, this was nice, thanks for sharing.
I've never been a fan of Halestorm and Lzzy, but this live performance gave me goosebumps. Amazing. I think this the best live performance of theirs I've heard.
saw both bands 2gether n seperate many times since each started..both r awesome...LZZY is a better singer than Taylor but I would take either....sidenote....AMY LEE of EVANESCENCE BLOWS BOTH OF THEM AWAY...
Don't worry I agree with you all the way. Lzzy is awesome but Amy has voice like angel. Though combination of Amy and Lzzy was awesome their voices fits together. It's just about opinion so people like us love more angelic voice like Amy has and others like more raspy rock voice like Lzzy has. I adore both, but I' Ev fan over a year so for me it always will be just Amy.
No she doesn't. Amy has a beautiful voice, but she is overrated and doesn't put that much effort in her career anymore. Besides, she has a bad vocal technique, she starts sounding weird after less than 20 minutes singing live. Both Lzzy and Taylor have better singing technique even when their voice is not as angelic, but still, their voices are very good.
I know its only your opinion but u r so wrong...overrated...cmon...she was raising her child....different combos of Evanescence broke up....I think u should see the newest concert from nov 2016 here on youtube ..the entire concert is posted...I have seen Amy many times n no matter what type of venue her voice shook the walls and crowd....she is without a doubt loaded with voice and only Carrie Underwood in my opinion comes close.....
I think they both deserve to appreciated, both are unique and pleasantly talentedly melodic, It is not an issue here of who is better but more so who' s melody's and riffs captivate you more!!!!
I love both. But Halestorm is far better at the stage and The Pretty Reckless has better albums. I'm happy to see that both bands have so many dedicated fans around the world.
It's a matter of vocal character, isn't it? It's impossible to define. Lizzy is technically a better singer than Taylor (better range, etc). By that same token, Michael Bolton is a better technical singer than Mark Lanegan, but I'd much rather hear Lanegan sing. Taste in music is 100% subjective, and that fact makes a VS video like this rather pointless. I personally prefer Taylor, but I won't get up on a high horse about my opinion.
I made the video and I agree. These videos were created originally just to pass time AND to celebrate my newfound discovery of both bands. I didn't think of the consequences-with all the name-calling and stuff.
Halestorm - 9.8 ( only because Lzzy didn't play guitar on the performance) The Pretty Reckless 10. Both are great songs. Personally I think Halestorm truly found their voice on the "Strange Case Of...." Album. That is one of those very Rare "Perfect" records from the first to the last track. Just a personal opinion.
My two favorite female singers. The raw power in Lzzys live performances is incredible. Taylor is really talented as well, I love when they show that raw emotion in their voices and Taylor does that almost as well as Lzzy. She'll get there in time.
No contest. Lzzy Hale alone is why they're better. She can sing anything. Taylor is just ok, nowhere near the range or the pipes. Plus Halestorm as a band can rip it up. They do a killer cover of Priest's Dissindent Aggressor. And if you haven't guessed by my name I'm huge Priest fan.
I think they both deserve to appreciated, both are talented and pleasantly melodic, It is not an issue here of who is better, they are both awesome, but more so who' s melody's and riffs captivate you more!!!!
Both good sounding bands, lzzy may have the more powerful sounding voice with higher range, But the tone of Taylor's deep voice range sounds really nice. I think Pretty reckless have possibly better quality written songs than Halestorm too.
R Moocher I think both bands were first marketed like mainstream pop rock bands, but their recent albums were really good! I think Going To Hell (The Pretty Reckless) and Into The Wild Life (Halestorm) were a big step up from their previous works. Check them out if you haven't! My personal favorite from Going To Hell was, of course, the title track. And then Sweet Things, Absolution, Blame Me, Burn, and Fucked Up World. There's a little criticism for Heaven Knows about it sounding like... well, you'll know when you listen to it, but I like that too nonetheless. For Into The Wild Life I really like Amen, I Like It Heavy, What Sober Couldn't Say, I Am The Fire, New Modern Love, The Reckoning, and Unapologetic. Wow, I almost said their whole albums... That says a lot.
Tay's band rocks, it gives me chills. And, of course, she looks damn hot, like a pretty demoness) Lzzy skills are better, but, nevertheless, it's boring for me
Taylor and I are actually great friends. Technically you can't really put us in a battle against each other based on vocal style, because we both hold up our own corner of the spectrum. But thanks for the promo guys!!

I will pick both because they are the kinds of People we need to keep our form of music alive, and well for the future Generations.
i love the pretty reckless.. but i've never heard of halestorm.. so i guess this means i'll be checking them out more.. Thanks!
HOW ON EARTH HAD YOU NEVER HEARD OF "HALESTORM" 🤷♂️🤔HMM..!!??
@@65coupestang I knew about them before I even listened to rock.
whoa...thank you...two awesome performances....love both bands
2 completely wrong songs to compare, but man, Lzzy is phenomenal, although I love both anyway
🎯 agree, not comparable 🥺 both good 🥳
both of the these videos were great. These women rock!
Lzzy's movements remind me of Dio's stage presence. :)
Plamen Dobrev ya know I never really noticed til I read this but your definitely right, even down to the dipping down low during sustained notes and shit
I first saw presented here bands, but I fell in love with the first girl. She great expresses emotions.
Omg I can't choose..I adoreee both of them ❤😍
Saw them both live in concert here in Wichita, KS. They were both were Great! Two different styles but equally talented for sure👍👍
Lzzy has such a majestic voice
Still can't believe Taylor was Cindy Lou in the Jim Carrey version of "How The Grinch Stole Christmas."
BOBBY RIZZO Disagree
BOBBY RIZZO THANK YOU YES
Both are great bands , In this day and age we need this type of bands and music.
Why couldn't it have been a mud wrestling battle? ;)
I can't believe this comment only got 35 likes...
I love both their vouces - very different. I just discovered these bands recently and I'm already a fan of both.
Damn, haven't heard her voice before but wow Lzzy has a great set of chords!
She is amazeballs, isn't she? :)
Both excellent bands - good choice of songs, they show the talent of each frontman!
Sweet dreams (guitar intro) but Lzzy Hale is the best vocalist omg
My Gods, what a voice.
The pretty reckless wins 100% Taylor was also only 17 here. Amazing. She inspires
My two favorite female singers. The raw power in Lzzys live performances is incredible. Taylor is really talented as well, I love when they show that raw emotion in their voices and Taylor does that almost as well as Lzzy. She'll get there in time.
Believe it or not you can like them both
They are both great singingers...
Each one has a different style and tone of voice when they sing, but in all honesty I love both of them.
I've seen both live.... best two shows I ever saw. Both bands are better today than they were them also.
hard to chose i love them both, halestorm has great music but i think taylor is much more beautiful..
I absoulutly LOVE both Halestorm and TPR.. I'd love to see more of this.
Lzzy vocally OWNS Taylor to be honest.
they are both great! now I have a new band to start following!
Tay's band rocks, it gives me chills. And, of course, she looks damn hot, like a pretty demoness) Lzzy skills are better, but, nevertheless, it's boring for me
I like each of them for their own qualities and sounds. But how lucky are we that we have these two strong, talented women in rock?!
The Pretty Reckless ❤
I love both bands. Have seen Pretty Reckless live and hope Someday I get the chance to see Halestorm live.
