I was coming of age during the period he profiles. Will being an environmentalist was the thing and to a lessor extent anti-war, there was a huge difference between the young in cities and those in small towns/rural areas. We were already environmentalist without the title, we cared about hunting/fishing/hiking outdoors more than our city cousins. Commies were not good and politicians fighting the war with rules was more the problem than war itself. But the MSM played it like those scenes shown.
hahaha thinking exactly the same thing. "they thought it was the fault of the profit motive and of the externalities.." like yeah indeed it is? What do you think is the cause instead?😂
@DarklingX perhaps, but the government certainly hasn't done much in terms of keeping jobs from going overseas, yes, better environmental standards will cost more, but if all making companies cleaner does is force them overseas, the government needs to step in an put a tax or something on that so it doesn't happen.
Nothing against The Beatles or Lennon, but it's not as though there wasn't ever any capitalism involved in the music business. I love music.. just saying.
@DirtCrashr they said the same thing about labour unions and workers rights. If the corperatists had it their way it would be like 18th century england all over again with kids in coal mines.
So Senator Gaylord Nelson, the senator and Okinawa campaign WW2 US Army veteran who founded earth day on April 22nd was a Leninist? 🙄 And Julien Koenig, the NYC advertiser from the advertising creative firm 'Papert Koenig Lois' that worked with Nelson is a Leninist, and he didn't choose it because it was his own birthday? Leninists on Park Avenue? 😂 "Koenig was on Senator Gaylord Nelson's 1969 committee that established Earth Day on April 22. Koenig coined the name "Earth Day". Koenig later stated that he was inspired by the fact that “Earth Day” rhymes with “birthday” (April 22 was also Koenig’s birthday)."
@steam0001 Great film. Yes and it won't register my thumbs up either. I'm really shocked by what looks like censorship. I believed this only happened in China
You don't have to abolish capitalism to achieve improved environmental standards. You just have to give it an incentive. Or in the case of whats happening right now. A penalty for not meeting enviromental standards.
He's making a deceptive logical fallacy to undermine environmentalism. You don't think all this wasteful destruction is a problem? Babies born with birth defects and people developing cancer from obvious segregation created by humans? Get a damn clue. th-cam.com/video/fMREI6c0HSA/w-d-xo.html
You obviously don't know anything about it. Obviously you are associate"CARBON" with anthropogenicly released C12 and C13 GHGs to shit talk environmentalism because you're too lazy to learn. Fossil Fuels come from the Carboniferous period of the Paleozoic era, plants that had lignan were brand new at this time so decomposers that consumed lignan had not evolved yet to consume the dead trees, so the remains compacted into the sediment and stored carbon while the C14 isotopes started to deplete. The half life of the radioactive Carbon 14 isotope is 5,730 years. Fossil Fuels don't have C14 because it already depleted. Since the industrial revolution we've seen an increase in C13 and C12, NOT C14. Natural recent release has C14 and the increase of the ratio between C12 and C13 found in the atmosphere was the same ratio found in plants. This is how they knew Climate Change is anthropogenic, they saw that trend and knew there was absolutely only one thing it could of been, a plant older than 60,000 years that was depleted of C14...fossil fuels. There has been no increase in the level of radioactive isotopes of Carbon 14 (other than from nuclear testing, and since the Nuclear Test Ban Treaty of 1963 there has been a measurable decrease of C14), but there has been an increase in Carbon 12 and Carbon 13, fossil fuels don't have Carbon 14. Naturally CO2 follows warming when obliquity moves towards the sun because ocean CO2 decreases in density and more goes into the atmosphere. But since the industrial revolution humans have been DOING THE OPPOSITE because of fossil fuels. We increased CO2 release, which cause warming, which releases CO2 from the oceans in a positive feedback loop This rapid increase will kill many species of flora and fauna that other species rely upon for survival and so disrupt and destroy trophic levels and food webs further, this will also assist in phenological mismatch where cycles no longer align. This will all drastically effect human food resources leading to starvation of many, and possibly extinction of Homo sapiens. Like I said, you're a damn fool.
Good video. You tube is up to its old tricks again. I gave your video the thumbs up but I guess your video is too controversial because they won't let my thumbs up register.
How coincidental . I typed environmentalism into the search bar and the man speaking is also named Robert Smith.
😂
so why should I believe a Libertarian Think Tank that thinks DDT wasn't an environmental hazard and mocked people like Erin Brokovich
🤣 exactly
To equate Silent Spring by Rachel Carson with Marxism is absurd...:O

I'm getting into solar and wind. What do you have on those topics?
We are in this world together; we must work together to save it.
I love how they are gathering straw at 1:55 where he sets up his Soviet strawman.

@TheCrwilliams
You like having an earth to live on? Then you'd be well advise to listen to them.

The present mimics the past time and time again.
Clearly, these environmental issues wouldn't occur under a non-capitalist system like the USSR....
Who started the industrial revolution?
Nothing against The Beatles or Lennon, but it's not as though there wasn't ever any capitalism involved in the music business. I love music.. just saying.

I hope you're joking, hard to discern.

it's all about our unconscious envy mind that come to real action ... remember freud ?
Wow this guy brings up some great points!

just checking back, you see that statement was wrong now huh
Just checked the earth day // Lenin birthday thing... apparently he's right on that one hah...

Lemmings then. Lemmings now.
No. You are just scientifically illiterate and an indoctrinated ideologue.
its a good well made video
I can't agree more.
@steam0001 Click thumbs up twice, that is what I had to do. Keep the faith!
@voiceofreason26 actually it did register only after i logged out and then back in. Phew. Cheers for free expression!
