This is a really good video, good job on the curation
There are some really beautiful camping spots in underneath the manuka just after your campsite. Keep hitting the same spots and dig deeper. Go up that valley. Find the story. You’re out there finding it all. Mean missions bro. Go deep!
It was a very hard decision where to stay - the campsite you mention is epic as well! Spent maybe 10 minutes sitting there pondering 😅
100% - every place is different each time you go back eh - find more cool spots the more energy you put in!
Epic footage, the across screen at 9:10 is amazing
Cheers! Was pretty stoked with how that clip came out, always stressful having the drone over water like that
Yeah that shot as amazing 👌🏽
Beautiful place and powerful truck !
Awesome video mate, makes me miss home a lot being in Australia. I done that trip take a couple of time, but started at Wainuiomata end. It really is beautiful on a nice flat day.
It's a club trip from the Wainui side now - well worth it, have done it a few times too. Such an amazing spot out there though eh!
this is deffs on the camping hit list now
Well worth the trip out there - it's an amazing spot!
looks amazing can't wait to go there I love your video mate
Great Video, thanks for sharing
I love solo camping too! Looks awesome down there in NZ. Hopefully we can visit soon!
Great footage. Enjoyed it. Keep up the good content 👍🏼
Cheers Aaron!
Another great Video! Thats a fantastic spot out there ay, easy track but spectacular views on a good day. Nice place to go with the family for an evening.
Cheers Scott! It really is - absolute gem of an area
Another cracking episode mate, looked like an absolutely serene spot. I'm a big fan of taking some time out for yourself, that looked like just the place to do it.
Cheers man! It really was - not too many people around and could just chill, love stuff like that eh!
Super cool hilux champ amazing views terrains
It's pretty amazing out there!
Great videography mate. Your footage is superb
Cheers mate!
Nice video love the Wairarapa
It’s a pretty awesome place eh! We’ve spent many hours exploring out there
So my stock Outlander with A/T should be ok haha great video indeed
Take the main road and not the beach and you should be all good! Though sadly the slip has gotten impassable now
Great video mate, Nz is a absolutely place, I really do miss Nz being my backyard
It really is! Cheers mate!
Great video! I love it out there by Cape Palliser and Lake Ferry. Will have to take this route next time! Cheers.
It’s pretty awesome around that whole bay eh. Worth doing the CCVC trip from Wainui too if you haven’t - get to see even more of it
Nice! I was supposed to go down that way this long weekend but plans changed unfortunately. Looks so amazing!
Ahh bugger! It's a special place - well worth a trip out there when you get a few spare moments!
The bit you were talking about having slips must have had a huge one recently. Earlier today I tried doing that track but it was way too washed out. Great vid and loving the Overland Nz app
Ahh bugger, that's not ideal. I'm not too surprised given the weather recently - doesn't take much to cause issues there. Cheers mate!
My ancestors carried the sheep over that coastline from Petone to settle the Wairarapa.
Far out - that’s crazy! Can’t even begin to imagine the worked involved to do something like that back in those days eh
@@OverlandNZTV Ha ha, no! Later ancestors drove the sheep ancestors right back over the Rimutaka again with Wairarapa Transport and our own trucks, lol.
Great Vid’, jealous making!
My grandparents had a batch at Ngawi but I never got where you were. Interesting. The windless days were special.
You can see Ngawi over the bay for most of this trip - the whole coast is pretty rugged eh. They really are - managed to time the trip up well
Ahh, Little Mukamuka stream - Mukamukaiti - There is a nice sheltered (if its windy, as it usually is!) place to setup camp in one gully back from there (about exactly half way between the 2 Mukamukas. Looks like you you got past windy point? and to the locked Orongorongo Station Gate (we never made it that far). I think Barneys Whare is past the locked gate ???
That camp spot is amazing eh! I visited it - but purposely didn't post any video about it. Barney's Whare is past the locked gate - have done a trip with a local club from the Wainui end to Corner Creek and back - was pretty awesome
Well done mate. Gonna test out the feldon on top of the prado in this spot in the next few weeks. Cheerz
Nice! Have fun! Corner Creek campsite is pretty mint too
What a fantastic trip mate!! I’ve done it on a bike a few times but thought the gates were always locked to 4x4. Are they open these days m? Am guessing you can’t access them from Wainui end? Great work again mate.
Cheers mate! You can get access to a certain point from the Wairarapa side - though it's currently shut due to a slip. Yeah locked gates at the Wainui end sadly - though CCVC do a trip through there that I've done a few times, good fun
Awesome video! How are you getting the drone shots while driving? Is it just put on a mode to follow the truck or?
Cheers! Generally I fly manually - it’s not easy - but I’ve found the follow modes never quite work or look as I want. Obviously wouldn’t do this on the road though!
@@OverlandNZTV oh awesome do you just keep it far enough away so you can get the shot and then carry on and move it as you go when you stop haha
Hey been thinking of going to corner creek campsite. I have a slightly lowered Celica car (FWD) Do you reckon it could make it out there without much trouble? I think from the photos the worst there is to get there is a shallow stream crossing?
It depends what the stream looks like - I don't imagine it'd be too bad at the moment, but it's been a while since I was last out there. I'm sure a bit of slow going and picking a decent line would be all good
How did you do the map of NZ with the little red line to show where you were heading?
It's a custom map flyover app thing I built - based off of our app, Overland Navigator, though not directly part of it 👍
What size wheels you got on the Hilux? And what offset are the rims
They're a 265/70R17 on 17x9 +15 offset rims 👍
Mate, was this a recent filming session? Went there maybe 3 months ago and the track to the Mungatuk stream wasn’t able to be driven!
True true - guess it changes heaps eh! Was filmed early November 👍
👍👍👍 so keen to do this trip but do you think my Hilux with no lift kit and factory size A/Ts would be okay for this?
Easy as - we’ve taken stock vehicles through. You won’t get past the slip at the moment - apparently it’s pretty bad
Did u guys buy the feldon tent or sponsored
We bought a standard Crows Nest and ran that for a year or so - Feldon then reached out and offered to upgrade us to the extended one which was awesome of them. Have been running a Feldon for coming up four years now, awesome product
I have a question to asked even a small suv like rav4 or a Jimny can make it or not and do you need to deflate your tyres on a rocky part or no issue im a beginner on the off road world so not too sure thanks
Hey - a Jimny would be able to do this no worries, they're super capable offroad being small and light. A RAV would be able to do parts of it, though probably not the soft sand or beyond the rivers, they're not really offroad cars. I didn't let my tyres down - probably should have for the beach, the rest of it was fine on road pressures. Hope that helps!
Loved the video!
Cheers!
