@@onceuponatime2403 well most shows based on books aren't usually adapted the same, so I think it would have been better to insert a new storyline with foreign characters rather than changing what fans already know and love
@@nandalakitanayame1760 100 percent accuracy is impossible. Compromises have to be made but literally changing a whole plot, especially of story that that gave the books fame doesn't makes any sense
we already knew that, he made colin a rake and put more make up in Penelope than in any other lead because she didn´t trust her own writing. The whole season is an ick
The reason their is a backlash is because the books came out way before it was made into a series. So there was already established fans of the character Michael. Also it is not only that, the way Michaela was introduced overshadows what Francesca and John have. Reason being, Francesca only has eyes for John. It is through grief that she starts to notice and falls for John’s cousin. Fans did not like how Francesca instantly swooned for Michaela when she first sees her. Now it is heading in a totally different trajectory from the book and Francesca’s story was amongst the favorite from people who have read the books. The showrunner has made John’s character more like a background character. When their love was beautiful in all it’s quirky ways. I am a massive fan of Shondaland shows, I appreciate they give us a lot of representations but when you dismiss fans of the books and completely erase a character and their storyline, you’re obviously going to receive harsh criticisms.
This is what happens when you give power to someone to change whatever they want in a story, the TV show was never faithful to books and will never be,so it is ok for you to change a character race, but not it sexuality?you guys can't complain when you accepted how things were before,if you accepted black chracters, you have to accept also gay chracters.
Here's the deal if you really Love her books. DO NOT watch it. That's the most powerful...because Netflix will think twice about funding. Just like how Game of Thrones fans Blew up the last few episodes. Loose your fan base, loose your money people.
I will not watch 1 more second of Bridgetown. Fast forwarding through the licentiousness isn’t even possible anymore. It has become so deprived. Sorry I ever thought I could watch it at all.
I found their story boring and weird. John didn’t even introduce his new wife to his Michaela. She didn’t even know he was married. No interest in watching their story.
So here it is called "disapointment" of fans, for any Marvel or rather Disney project, the same thing is called homophobic, misogynistic, racist and toxic fandom. Funny...the hypocracy!
actually they stated that they won't change the couples but it seems they love to lie, either way watch how Bridgerton gets cancelled because they will lose fans
I appreciate the fact that Julia Quinn takes the adaptation of her books seriously and is in consultation with the creative team. The fan outrage centers on the feeling that the love story of Francesca and John Stirling will be shunted aside: he has been such a major character in Season 3, and the actor Victor Alli was so wonderful in the role, he and Hannah Dood had such wonderful chemistry that the idea the Francesca and John story will somehow be shortcircuited in future seasons seemed brutal. If that story is played out well, then there will be no complaints about how the rest of the story will develop.
Half the English aristocracy is African at the time when this class of people owned slaves. It’s always been as woke as they come. I always just thought of it as some kind of fantasy multiverse Cinderella 🤣
The outrage is immensely cringe. Like nobody, ABSOLUTELY NOBODY, is forcing y’all to watch this show. If you don’t like the outcome, cool. THEN DON’T WATCH. It’s really that simple. The author is cool with it, go touch some grass and reread the book.
or we can pretend it never happened and go back to Michael
This
Francesca's season will be the last season for bridgerton this was a bad move
I am done watching
Quinn's a sell out
So Brownell is not creative enough to insert a storyline of some sorts......
Isn't the show is for the fans not for the writers to insert herself and when we'll don't like it she'll be able to say we're homophobic.

I have been so on the fence about it. I read the books as a teenager and loved every bit of that series. I’m too afraid to watch the show lol.

At this stage, it's just a spin off of the books. So many changes 😢
Still not convincing to change the characters gender ,Eloise maybe but Francesca ,really ?
That "information" the author needed was the green paper cause money talks!

I loved the books but i think this is an exciting change. The show has changed so much else already anyway.
I will no longer watch the show. Disappointed

I agree and understand the outrage but no one promised that the screenplay would be a True adaptation of the books. So don't watch it.

Damn right, people shouldn’t watch it anymore. Then let’s see who loses money from royalties and funding from netflix 😂 LOL
