"So Dear To My Heart" is the title of this movie to me...but of coarse that title preceded this movie. Posting this sound track is nostalgic and heartwarming. Thanks.
Currently voices became louder regarding music by Adolph Deutsch (fully understandable!), so it is just a great pleasure to come after those wishes with this little warm score he had written for the 1954 comedy “The Long, Long Trailer”, starring Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz in lovely performances. While Deutsch’s score is indeed small, regarding its running time (only 26 minutes of music), it still perfectly captures the mood of the picture. Also, by adapting the song “Breezin’ Along With The Breeze”, practically making it the movie’s theme, got the composer a lot of opportunities to work with (best known a lovely vocal performance by Ball and Arnaz). All that is wrapped in a package of the loveliest orchestrations a 50’s comedy could get. Enjoy!
I remember this film! I was just a wee lad when I saw it on the tube. Great music and a lot of fun! Grading quizzes and homework this weekend is going to be so much more fun as I re-listen to this. Thanks Fred!
There's a lot about this movie I like but there's also a lot I truly hate. I loved their ride through the giant redwoods and every time Lucy and Desi would sing "Breezin' Along." But thinking on it now most of it drives me up the wall. The Caesar Salad, Lucy's rock collection, all the relatives watching them pull the trailer out and I'm sure there are others but I don't want to have to watch it again to remember them. My parents took our family to the Drive In theater to see this some 70 odd years ago and I still remember it as one of the most nerve racking movies of all time. My favorite part was seeing it at the Drive In movie.
