We were so lucky as kids in the 60s. Lost in Space, Land of the Giants, Time Tunnel and Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea. Fantastic kids shows that fired your imagination, you watched them and then went outside and played with your friends pretending to be your heroes. So many great memories of a happy childhood.

Sven524 Could not agree with you more.😃 You listed some of my all-time favorites. I was a child of the 1980s and all of these fantastic shows were in syndication. I would add Batman, Gilligan’s Island & Star Trek. Would watch them all then get together with friends and pretend to be all of those characters.😊 It was the best.

Sven524 K may not have been born in the 60's, but I saw this series on the Sci-fi channel with my dad in the early half of the 90s when Cable was a big deal. I remember he and I got up early, played chess and then 45 minutes before the bus picked me up, I recall him and I laughing at Dr. Smith as the episodes went on. Good time memories 😊

I grew up watching Lost in Space in the 60s. That first theme almost brings me back to that time: sitting in front of the TV ( black and white ) with my Will Robinson shirt on , mom in the kitchen cooking, little sis sitting next to me. Oh God, if I had one wish it would be to go back there again and start over . They all passed away. Life can be so beautiful yet so sad !!!!

The first season, (1965-1966), was indeed Black and White because there were still not that many folks who could afford Color TV's at the time. The next two seasons, (there were only three seasons of the original show), were shot in Color. That show was truly a lot of fun but then nearly ALL of the shows in the 60's were a lot of fun. @@markloveless1001 Well, he got very good using it during his days in television. Very often those arrangements had to be budget conscious, and thus very creative. He mostly used a lot of horns and some woodwinds and percussion, because he could only afford smaller scoring ensembles for much of his work, so he only got to use string players sparingly. Listen to some of his TV work and you'll hear mostly horns in the arrangements. All those horn sessions definitely served him well later in his career though, to be sure.

As someone who played french horn, trumpet, and baritone horn in symphonic bands and wind ensemble the themes were exceptional. Hearing the trumpet lead is wonderful. The flute and piccolo part is beautiful. The french horn is awesome. And to hear the tuba in conjunction with the string bass is what sets it in motion. The second theme was very well written with the countdown number starting from 7. The flute, piccolo, and bells played part is absolutely striking..The french horn soli is cool..I m a band theme fan for sure. I would love to see the written score to both..

Not sure what more they can do with our level of tech... unless there is a major breakthough.. they way jet power was compared to propeller. One thing is for sure... conventional travel though space will not get us anywhere. Crazy how far some of the distances are. But... can you imagne knowing that the universe is finite. Despite all that space.. one would always wonder what was on the other side of the edge. Will someone read this comment in 10,000 years and say... what... they thought the universe was infinite... that's like saying the earth was flat. Silly people!

Lost in Space was FUN and really stimulated our imaginations as children! Interestingly, I only remember the original theme. Yes, the second theme is definitely more upbeat; however, the urgent, staccato, somewhat frenetic vibe of the original, in my view, truly captures the drama of what the Swiss Family Robinson actually goes through ("Warning - warning - Danger Will Robinson!). Perhaps the most distinctive character was the one who was too clever for his own good and always royally screwing things up! (Most have you know who I mean, yes?)

His story is an example of how you work your up in Hollywood. In the mid-1950s, Williams got his first job as a pianist in the Columbia studio orchestra, under the baton of Morris Stoloff. He started by just playing little piano riffs for a movie like "Picnic." After a while, according to Williams, Stoloff liked his work and asked him to write a few bars of music and sent him over to Alfred Newman at 20th Century-Fox where he worked on musicals like "Carousel" and "The King and I." A decade later, he got this gig at Fox for "Lost in Space." In 1971, he won his first Oscar for the adaptation of "Fiddler on the Roof." After that, "Jaws," "Star Wars," "Indiana Jones," "E.T." and so on. Along the way, he broke Newman's record for most Oscar nominstions with an unsurpassed resume of musical styles.

I remember watching the first episode. My dad had heard about a new science fiction show and we were both excited to see it. Maybe I'm wrong ,but it seemed so serious it was almost scary (as a 10 yr old). And then it seemed like it took a giant turn from a foreign agent sabotaging this important breakthrough expedition to a neighboring solar system into a sit-com like fumbling lazy nincompoop that was accepted into their family. I still have fond memories of this show as a kid, but I still wish it had had a more serious tone. Probably would have only lasted 1 episode.
