Camping New Zealand East Cape

If you are planning to visit the East Cape, then watch this video. In this video we are traveling from Auckland to the East Cape, we visiting the Rotorua area with the hot springs and hot pools, staying on freedom camping sites, visiting a naturist resort located on a beautiful lake. We traveling on the New Zealand Pacific Coast Highway and visiting the East Cape, New Zealand's most eastern point. We made a Jetboat trip on the Motu River, that was one of the highlights of our trip. We have passed by Whakatane and caught up with old friends from Saudi Arabia.
Our adventure from the vibrant city of Auckland to the secluded beauty of the East Cape, our journey unfolded along the iconic New Zealand Pacific Coast Highway. This road trip promised an exploration of diverse landscapes, from the geothermal wonders of Rotorua to the tranquil lakeside retreats and thrilling experiences that awaited us.
We first stopped at Sanctuary Mountain Maungatautari, nestled two hours south of Auckland, Sanctuary Mountain Maungatautari, welcomes nature enthusiasts with its pristine nature and native bushwalking's. This ecological haven is a testimony to New Zealand's commitment to conservation. Home to native birds and lush flora, it offers a unique sanctuary experience, inviting visitors to immerse themselves in the beauty of nature and biodiversity.
Choosing freedom camping sites allowed us to connect with the raw beauty of New Zealand's landscapes. Nestled beneath starlit skies, these sites offered a unique sense of freedom and connection with nature. One standout experience was our visit to a naturist resort situated by a picturesque lake. Surrounded by pristine wilderness, the resort provided a serene escape, allowing us to unwind and appreciate the unspoiled beauty of the land.
Continuing our journey on the Pacific Coast Highway, we reached the East Cape, marking the most eastern point of New Zealand. The rugged coastline and untouched scenery captivated our senses, creating a profound connection with the untamed nature of the region.
One of the trip's highlights was a heart-pounding jet boat excursion on the Motu River. The adrenaline rush combined with breathtaking scenery made for an unforgettable adventure. Zooming through narrow gorges and experiencing the thrill of the river's twists and turns, we felt an exhilarating connection with New Zealand's wild side.
As our journey concluded we carried with us memories of geothermal wonders, freedom camping beneath starlit skies, tranquil lakeside retreats, and the adrenaline-fueled excitement of a jet boat ride on the Motu River. This expedition along the New Zealand Pacific Coast Highway was not just a physical journey but a soul-stirring exploration of the country's diverse and stunning landscapes.

The tunnel was for investigating is the ground is stabil enough to build a dam, but it wasn’t, so they have abandoned the project to build a dam on the motu river
