My Savage (yes...a savage) is deadly =0 on 100yds . . .looking for some deer this fall.....building blinds and ready to go....Love the .270 . . . also open country hunting in the Cariboo of BC, Canada.
Hard to beat the 270 win for an open country deer round. The original loading for the 270 was 130 grain bullet at 3140-3160 fps then they throttled it back to 2960 fps. H4831 and RL22 I’ve had no problem getting 130 gr bullets to 3150 fps even in 22” barrel. H4350 is a great powder also.
Why no Chronograph? One of the very best tools for load development is the chronograph. Also H-4350 is a good powder The 270 needs a slower burnring powder like 4831 or RL-22 which I found to be the very best in my 270. StaBal 6.5 is another one. I just loaded 145 grain ELDX bullets and got 3207 fps out of my Weatherby Vanguard 24 inch barrel. SD of 4 fps. .315 Sub MOA grouping. Fantastic Deer Hunting load. I've been doing load development for over 50+ years on dozens of Cartridges. Believe me I know what works. I've been watching many guy's reloading their 270 on You tube for several years now and far too many of them are using the wrong powder and way underloading their cartridges. Also the 270 loves and must have a longer Barrel for it to work properly.
Your flyers… if they your third shots and your barrel is a thin/in the sun you could be throwing them down to heat. Shoot 2 shots, let it cool back down some and then shoot the 3rd
I live in the middle of New Hampshire. I'm envious of people that have the ability to just go outside and take long-distance shots. When I say long-distance I mean anything over five hundred yards. Cuz here in central New Hampshire you'll be lucky to find a place where you can get a 300-yard shot that's not going up one hell of a hill or down. But there are a handful of places. Great video. Keep up the good work.

What was your distance from the lands on the 270?
Judging by those bolt closes I'd say smashed into.
Ogive to case head measurement of 2.712 is my sweet spot.
