Fantastic update lights looks great nice update video. Birch board 4x4 sheets work the best for facia easy to bend and cut. Doesn’t snap when doing rap sections. Happy modelling boys 😎🚂🫵
Nice progress. I have used eighth inch I think masonite for facia. Have it cut at the store let them clean up the dust. Where it joins a little wall board mud, tape and a light sand and your ready for paint. I recommend a flat coat. I like the cardboard retaining wall, when you go to pour the epoxy you may want to seal that with a clear caulk. Ask me how I know... A good coat of paint should keep the epoxy from doing the capillary thing on the carboard. I would build a little mock up and experiment.
I used Plastruct #91521 O Scale /1:24 corrugated siding material for the break walls along my river scene. I simply cut strips to the desired length and drilled small holes along the top of the retaining wall which added a nice touch, then painted them an oxide red. The sheets come 2 per pkg and measure 7 by 11-inch sheets.
Afternoon Wade. Thanks for the update. Its coming together nicely. Facia... you may want to consider 60 thousandths styrene for some applications, obviously hard board for most. I've been looking at cookie trays for harbour walls. You'll have to eat a sh@t ton of cookies though 😊
It’s a private club not open to the public unfortunately, but we have been talking about running an open house later this year if things work out. If it does I will do a video about it, but it’s still undecided.
@@SilverCreekSub I spent many hours/days/weeks (LOL) trying to get CATS/JMRI to work reliably with block detection and train ID tracking (RailCom). I construct and maintain these systems IRL so it made it even more frustrating for me. I ended up using iTrain. I'm glad you got working. The CATS style track model is more prototypical. I was even working with Rodney for a while giving feedback on how to make it even more prototypical. Maybe one day I'll give it another try.
@@SilverCreekSub right on! I just went CTC myself - need to do a video about it. I’m assuming from your super clean panel you are using CATS? I stuck with panelpro for now and using logix, I can check one logix box and have CTC, or uncheck it and have ABS, so when I’m just hanging out running trains the system does all the work.
@@ConrailBostonLineHOLayout yeah we chose to use CATS for the panel, and the logic’s made it super easy to get all the indications we wanted to prototype Canadian CN CTC. Once we get it fully installed and all the resistor wheelers on we are going to do a a video series on all of it.
We use the speed tunnel and then match each speed step to 1 scale MPH, that’s on 128 speed steps, and then we know how fast we are going to scale which is super helpful for different tracks with different speeds
hello c s sub !!! first, let me say..... "GO LEAFS !!!" from springville, ny 30 miles south of buffalo in gods beautiful countryside !!! you guys are amazing !!! several questions.... first, at 6:14 in todays video we see what looks like a metal recycling facility with older metal along the wall and newer product between the siding tracks... does the older stuff leave the site and get separated ( i.e. magnetic metal from non-magnetic metal) then loaded in what looks like o v r garbage cars ? LOOKS GREAT !!! coincidentally, i have been in the "pre-planning" stages with something quite near to your iteration !! second, what color ballast will you use on the sub as your primary color choice ??? here is why i ask... my pike, the buffalo & pittsburgh, is, believe it or not, a co-owned rr between cn and cp ( boy, do i need several molsons for thinking like this !!!) that connects western ny and western pa with the new york city ( NEW YORK CITY !!!) ports and, theoretically, my north south line is nudging its way towards the ns southern tier line (which is a real line... former erie/el/cr), an east/west route, in competition with ns. i realize i will use several different colors of ballast, just kind of wonderin' what your thoughts are ! third... boy, i really think we are in for a better than normal hockey playoff season, which is great !!! as i am sure you watch HNC w/ ron and the boys ( i have been watching hnc religously since my youth as we lived on top of armes hill and turned our antenna towards the north every saturday night !!!), what are your thoughts ??? leafs, rangers, bruins, panthers, canes are all real tough, and the west is real good, too, with oilers, canucks, jets and rockies.... gallons of beer, my cn sub friends !!! sorry about the length of this note, but i am a real fan of your stuff, which helps me as much if not more than instructional videos... no shit !! even though i do not know your names, i will surely remember you all in my evening prayers tonight !!! ps... see what retirement does to you ??? model trains/HNC/walleye fishing/damn good cigars and more model trains !!! OUCH !!!
lol I love it!! Almost everything on the layout is just a place holder for now, we just changed the last part of the layout and just now I feel like the track plan is final, so now we are moving towards planning the actual scenery and supporting infrastructure. The plan for the scrap is to remove the building and have different types of metal along the back wall and then have the corresponding live loads to match the piles to go into the scrap cars. GO LEAFS GO!!!!! cheers, Wade
Yes, not built by us, built by a company called wehonest It’s an eBay store out of china, but if you ask the owner to add different heads to different spots he will

The scenery is beautiful and starting to take shape. Great job 👏 👍 👌
Thanks Herbert!
Those Barina LED strip lights are awesome, I light my train room with them, too.
They are great!!
It's good to see the progress you have made recently. Thanks for the update!
Thanks Gary!
The corrugated cardboard looks great. Just some paint and weather. The cardboard will make it easy to put dents and scars in it.
I was thinking that but what about when I pour the water for the harbor? Planning on using epoxy
Looking forward to your findings, details and specifications on your resistor wheel sets.
You got it! It will all come out in the CTC build series when we are finished, it’s getting close!

That’s an awesome idea!! I love cookies 🤣
You could 3d print the port wall instead of cardboard and do pieces at a time and glue them
That would be awesome! I just have a 3D printer, but we have thought about sourcing it out
Superb .... the very antithesis of my 'Sandy Creek' layout 😮
Is this a model railroad club in Ontario? Would love to see this.
