- We show the difference between a MechMan 6 phase Elite series alternator, and a conventional high output alternator. The unit that we use for example happens to be a brand new Lexus ISF 300 amp alternator being assembled for Steve Meade, one of the forefront audio installers in the world.

I can't wait! My stock alternator only feeds my car 13.1-13.3 volts at BEST. It's 14v when i first start the car and then within 10 minutes its down to low 13 for the rest of the day. I think Toyota does that on purpose. Its a GREAT alternator, probably last forever, BUT, i need MORE POWAAAAAA. Thanks Mechman!
Now we need 12 phase motors and maybe I can create my own copter board.
looks like your getting one hell of a nice alt setup
6 phase alternators/motors are uncommon but not unheard of. The windings/poles must be 60 degrees apart. My guess is 2 sets of 3 phase windings were used in the making of this bad ass alt. I'll take two please!
Hey Matthew, can you make a piggy back plug to plug to my Alternator to stock wiring harness and have the abilities to adjust my voltage? I got one of your 240a alternator.
Great video! I'm sure Steve will love the alt!
LIKED!
i'm getting sick of the camera lens
do you make alternators for vw gold mk5 TDI??
Dosent water boil in a battery if the voltage exceeded 14.6 v. ? P0
Question about the windings. I assume you're using a Wye configuration on the windings. I guess that's evidenced by the fact that each phase lead coming out doesn't have two wires joined at it. That said, it looks like you have two separate neutral busses, is that correct?
It just bugs me that Gale Banks said the 6 phase connections were "not intuitive" without going into further detail.
Can you use those voltage adjustments on all of your alternators? I have a 250amp for my honda i just got back and want to run it at 15 volts.
looks good guys!!
I have an 08 Impala LS and I'm wanting to upgrade the alternator what do you recommend I do other than the alternator upgrade and a battery, power wire and ground wire upgrade
chris smith
Not much. Be careful, you can easily fry your ecu by not paying attention to the schematics. You should get the proper repair manual or take it to a shop. It's basic but you never really know. I have a factory 175A Megafuse in between the alternator & battery.
I'm curious, I have a 99 e39 540i M62tu 4.4 with a water cooled alternator, would you guys be able to build a unit for that car?
wish you guys could figure out a harness for my mechman alt, its a 2 wire system, which is a very common system, my vehicle cause the alt to start at around 14.0v MAX, never seen voltage above that, then it goes down to around 13.1 volts the entire rest of the time, all because mazda wants to make my vehicle more fuel efficient I guess, im trying to design my own harness ..... been studying how alts work
Can you do anything with the alternator for a 99 Toyota Solara V6?? I can't find anywhere reputable that makes a high output alternator for a Solara with a V6, only a 4 cyl.
Man I would do unspeakable things for one of your alts. hoping to buy one soon as I can, but my budget just won't allow it at the moment. That, and I'd be really surprised if you currently make one that'll fit my van. I'll find out for sure once the funds surface.
according to my physics books synchronous machines have 3 phase configurations, is there something im not seeing, or is this just 2 sets of 3 phase windings that are being rectified by 2 3 phase rectifiers, and thus the DC output is paralleled giving you the currents of both added together
Usually that's the ecm telling it not to pull power it doesn't need. All that stuff is controlled electronically these days. It starts high to charge the battery from when the vehicle started and then slows down because it's not under load. It's a three wire on your lexus I think. They don't really kick on due to at idle it not using much current.
What are my options for my 2005 f150 5.4l
hope you guys can help me out on my probe. 90 amps just doesnt cut it.
some day i will buy mine!
what kind of price did they put on this thing ?
about 800?
very nice
Your onto something here ... .
24v 400 A ?
am i having a seizure?
even taken apart the alternators power still distorts the image (wavyness)
Ok either someone slipped me some drugs or the camera was shaking and distorting.
Felt like it was under water or something
That is clean! Better than those shitty ass irraggis he use to use.
I can't watch this, the picture is constantly shaking and distorting, shame because it's an interesting subject.
To turn this into a generator all you do is replace the copper in the rotor For a Large round neodymium magnet.
If you go to mechman dot com they have a form to fill out to see what they can do for you. They responded to me within a couple days. For my car they could't do anything, but they suggested someone else to contact.
legit
Are you really trying to teach Steve something?
its the fish eye lense -_-
This video is making my eyes hurt...
the alternator would be even more effecient if they had a custom permanent magnet rotor instead.
i can't believe i am replying to a 5 year old comment...but here go's. That makes no sense at all. Stop making stuff up and stop liking your own post. Thanks. LOL
Lmao! He says, "stop making things up"!!! You were laughing when you said it. Lol, hell he might be an Electronic Engineer by now! It's been how long! Doubt it though, lol. Love the comments! Hey Steve, just wanted to say much respect! Love your MacGyver approach to problems you come across from time to time. And love your videos. Do you still take your Tahoe to shows any more? From Bakersfield with much respect, have a good morning✌.
Sorry.
This is not new technology.
