About Nick:
As Modern Drummers’ 2017 #1 progressive drummer, Nick D’Virgilio has developed an illustrious career in the world of progressive music. Although he’s widely known for his work with former band Spock’s Beard and current band Big Big Train, Nick has also been called upon to lay some tasty playing on music from huge artists like Genesis and Tears for Fears, and to tour with Cirque du Soleil for “Totem”. Not willing to set into a single role, Nick has also developed his skills in various instruments - including vocals - and is currently working at Sweetwater Sound where he teaches, does session work, and creates tutorial, demo, and review videos.

Nick is one of the best drummers most people have never heard of. Killer drum sounds and he plays hard, but with lots of feel and finesse. Highly underrated!
Agreed! SPOCK'S BEARD was a band like KING'S X where I was left wondering "HOW did these guys not make it way bigger than they did?????"

Nick's endorsements are basically just whatever he wants to play at any given time. I absolutely love his positivity and open mindedness about gear.
@@KyleDavisMusic Not sure he is endorsed by anyone in particular... mainly cuz he sells gear for everybody... I know he was a Mapex artist for a number of years..
Well since he's pretty much played everything personally doing sweetwater demos he's probably found things he really likes by most brands

As a Snow fan, this was FANTASTIC. He didn't just replicate the studio album, but played around with it. He is such a great drummer.
This guy really is one of my most favorite musicians of all times. This album opened the door to SB to me and they’ve been one of my favorite bands ever since.
Nick is a great prog drummer. Not only that, but great singer as well.
I love his song Mary Jane Says on the album Pieces.

The only thing I've ever heard of him is the troika album, which is absolutely fantastic.
His singing voice is very much not what I would have expected, but great.

I bought it back in the day just because Portnoy praised it. I had never heard the band or even of the band. It is one of my favorite albums of all time to date.

Snow is one of my favorite albums. Huge fan of Nick's drumming... And the tuning is on point, especially those floor toms.

I just remember my father blasting this down in our bacement while he worked when I was about 4-6 yrs old. I was down there too flailing my arms to it hah. 20 years later here I am listening and learning it, One of my faves for majority of my life!

I wish Nick as much success as possible. Super gifted player and just a really nice guy. I met him once in the studio at Sweetwater when my band was playing there. He took the time to talk with us and was very down to earth and approachable.
I love this guy. His playing is unlike any other playing I've ever seen before.... Hands down one of my top favorite drummers.

Love this guy so much! He's such a musician - vocals, keys, guitar, and DRUMS! So glad that I got to see him play this material at one of the few performances ever when SB (all of them) played Morsefest and played Snow from start to finish - what a weekend!
Nick is such a fantastic drummer. His musicianship is always on point. One of my favorite drummers for sure.

This.. THIS IS WHAT GOT ME really to pick up a pair of sticks and a want to get behind a kit with such a style. It's still there but besides that. My father had this cd playing doing his work while I was playing breaking/taking something apart an the basement there as well. I.. always wanted to play this and like this. also propabbly with my mother stomping on the floor that were too loud. Usuall. Thanks for that amongst other "stick" pillars Nick! ;)
I grew up reading about Nick in Modern Drummer magazine. I think he’s one of the more underrated drummers around. The dude has chops and groove! I’m glad the sweet water thing has given him a steady gig and I enjoy the content he creates for them but dude should be getting some mailbox money!

Definitley a great drummer most people don't know about. The Snow Album is an absolute Masterpiece and by far the best Spocks Beard Album of all. I love the fluidity of his playing.

I remember seeing him play with Karmakanic back in 2009-10 and he was absolutely incredible. I've been a big fan of since since then.

Wonderful! What I love about Nick is that he's got the chops, but it's especially his dynamics and softer touch that gets me. A true inspiration not only for drummers, but for musicians. Now release his performance of East Coast Racer already! (..pwetty pwease? :) )
His soft touch on on tracks like Walking on the Wind and Second Overture here are amazing. He can play as hard as anyone but also as soft as the music requires. Not a one trick pony for sure.

I've seen this video and I agree with who thinks Nick one of the best modern drummers.
This album cemented Nick's place as one of my all-time favorite drummers. The only good parts left out of this medley are... the whole rest of the album!
