    My a 50 year old Britannia is wrecked from years of disregard. I’d love to bring it back to life. Your video has given me hope, thanks.

      Ah it sounds like it needs some TLC then 😊 so glad I could help in some way, and best of luck with it, let me know how you do 💪
      All the best,

    So so happy a piece out of my english scrap box could resurrect your Britannia! Well done! Great video again.

      🤣 the scrap box is a blessing. Thanks so much Rinke

    That was brilliant! Especially the smoke coming out. Should be ‘well chuffed’ with that. Really shows you don’t have to spend hundreds on brand new models… 👍

      Thanks Paul, appreciate it, I was over the moon getting her running again 🤩 so true, trying my best to do this on a budget and so far so good

    Really enjoyed that! Although these are clearly models of their time, human imagination fills in the gaps and an older model can be just as authentic and exciting to see as anything modern and highly detailed. All credit to you for persevering and for your determination to keep Britannia ! Really enjoying the evolving content on your channel and hope that you manage to keep making positive progress with the layout and the maintenance. Thanks for all the trouble you go to to bring your journey to the rest of us! 👍👋

      Thank you so much Ysanne, what a wonderful comment and I am absolutely tickled that you enjoyed it so much. Every new video is really a learning on the last and I have so much to learn as I go 😅 I really do appreciate your very kind words, it makes it all worth it when I get a comment like this! 😊
      Best regards,

    Great repair to get it running well again. I used a donor chassis to fix my Bachmann class 4 which had self destructed. It's been easier for me as I live in the UK. Thanks for showing. Regards Paul.

      Hi Paul. Thank you very much, was that a split chassis that you fixed? Good job 👍

      Yes it was a split chassis with the bulging wheel problem which destroyed the coupling rods and the valve gear. It's the only time it's happened to me.

    Yes it is a split chassis. It had the bulging wheels problem caused the coupling rods and valve gear to destroy themselves . Replacement chassis was the only answer. It's the only Bachmann where it happened to me. Regards Paul.

    hi hilton ... i got my brittania cheap .... i serviced mine and replaced the brushes ... mine has no smoke box but still has the chuff tender ... great reliable loco ... seems to have presence on the track .... keep on tracking ....

      Hi Mark, yes indeed, they are such solid locomotives, I am so impressed with their construction given their age :) I would love to find a few more. Did yours come with a smoke unit initially? Thanks, Hylt

    Very nicely done however while you had both the motors out a full service would have been a great idea especially the commutator, brushes and wheels. Also how was the non insulated brush held in place. Usually there is a spring which holds them in place.. Still a very interesting resurrection.

      Yes, quite right you are there. I did think about this after and kicked myself for not doing it, I know the engine backwards now, so might just open her up again and do so! Thanks for your input, I appreciate it immensely. Hylt

    I quite like that American loco, I've been after it for a while for just being an old thing, it's basically flying scotsman with an american loco body as the tender and chassis are from an A3

    • @Proper_Chuffed
      @Proper_Chuffed  ปีที่แล้ว

      You’re welcome to have the body and tender 😅 it’s just shipping it to you that might be a tad expensive 😂

    Could the part not be 3D printed .?

    • @Proper_Chuffed
      @Proper_Chuffed  ปีที่แล้ว

      I thought about it, unfortunately I don’t have ready access to one 😞 so I had to make do. As it stood the running gear really was shot at this point so I decided a full swap would suffice

    I have a spare Brittania Triang . Also my family was considered one of the largest toy manufacturers in the world...exporting American and British all over the world

      It’s quite a special loco, that’s really cool, awesome family history 😎 thanks for watching again 😊
