    I’m so in love with mine too. I hope it trails as good as yours! I was debating pole training it to avoid the small leaves, but now…idk!

      I’ve seen them climb too and they’re just as pretty! 🤍🌿

    I keep getting so close to buying this!
    Right now I don't have enough space to add another friend to my collection. Once I put my window shelves up it's coming home with me.
    I've got a Lucens, Moonlight/dark form, a platinum, and something called a Scindapsus tattoo (my least favorite but rarest out of the group).
    Right now I have a 35+ year old monstera taking up my corner of windows upstairs and my friend has a palm in my downstairs window.
    She's moving to my other house soon and as sad as I am that she won't be living in the same house as me anymore I'm so excited for the light/window economy that's going to free up. I really want to grow a huge exotica over the edge of my fireplace and train it into the window. I love how antique they look from afar and how much they glitter up close

      Ok first a 35+ year old Monstera?!? Awww how special!!! 🥺
      And I think that this Scindapsus would look absolutely gorgeous over a mantle! 👏🌿🤍

      @@BotanicalBrunette it's probably years older. It was passed down by my sister's late grandma, and I know it was at least alive as long as she's been. Nobody has an exact date
      It's got two flowers developing into fruit right now.

    Hi! I just found your channel! I was wondering if you mind sharing where your shelf behind you is from and where the pot your plant is from? Super cute!!

    I think I have one. I grew some nodes I bought. They were unidentified scindapsis with a list of what they could be. The first one yo comeuppance looks like the exotica. I I’ll use a plant identification app when it gets a second leaf.

    I struggle with Moonlight so far. My last resort was to plant it with Syngonium in very small pot and water it more often. Many people struggle with Moonlight. My other scindapsus plants are just fine for now in the same conditions.

      Definitely agree. It’s also a slow grower 😅

    Honey, I have ruined so many plants from over-watering. Bottom-watering is the way to go for plants that I always over-water. That being my Scindapsus varieties and my Cebu Blues. I have root-rotted too many of them! UGH!🤦🏽‍♀️
    Your plant is gorgeous!!🪴🪴🪴

    I will try water propagation. My concern is how well the cuttings transition to soil. I was going to try perlite in a propagation container. Or maybe I can start them in water and as soon as I see roots transition them so they can grow stronger roots. The reason I am saying this is that it seems to me most scindapsus out there seem to have been grown in water and stuffed in pots just before they have been shipped. Many of them are just set to fail. Especially the Moonlight. My local Walmart received scindapsus and the Moonlight plants are all dieing epic death. I stayed away from scindapsus for so long because my first two atemts were disaster. But now that I know it's the growers fault I bought them and repoted them immediately with my own mix trying to nor mess with the roots. The original soil is still there but it's surrounded by my chunky mix. So far so good except the Moonlight. That one is still not okay.

      Water Propagation is great for a lot of plants, but I do agree that some Scindapsus don’t transition well. If you’re having issues with water props try sphagnum moss. Sometimes I will water propagate pickier plants to get the roots going and then move it to sphagnum moss as a in between transitioning stage before soil. I’ll keep it in water for a few weeks and in moss until I feel like it’s ready for soil. Moss is just a little hard to maintain full time due to it drying out. I like propagating in water because is a set and forget kind of thing lol.

    Please help with this one. I passed up on one of these beauties as it was labeled "satin pothos". I fear it will grow as large as the golden pathos. How fast do these grow? Are the really a pathos or an individual species of their own?😨

    • @BotanicalBrunette
      @BotanicalBrunette  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      They’re a species all of their own - Scindapsus Pictus. Although they are very similar to a Pothos. They commonly get mislabeled as a Pothos. They trail and get bushy. ☺️🌿

    What the heck?! Every time I try to water prop my exotica it takes forever and the leaves actually end up curling up and never take. I ve only had luck with spagnum moss or perlite. But I love my exotica she's a beast!!!

    • @BotanicalBrunette
      @BotanicalBrunette  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      What? Really? That’s so weird. Moss propagation is my 2nd go to, and I find it transitions into soil so much easier than water props.
