  • Call it a 'needlecase' or a 'needlebook,' here is a great little tutorial showing you how to make one!
    Using fabric, felt, cardboard, a little bit of HeatnBond (Vliesofix) and thread, this project is super quick and simple to construct!
    Measurements & cutting:
    For the OUTER COVER you will need:
    - x1: 9"x6" rectangle of fabric*
    - x1: 9"x6" rectangle of HeatnBond/Vliesofix/Bondaweb
    - x1: 8"x5" rectangle of thin/lightweight cardboard - I used a green scrap piece as I didn't have any white left!
    (*You can very easily use a Fat Quarter to make this project!)
    For the TAB you will need:
    - x2: 1&1/4"x2&1/4" rectangles of fabric (the same used on the outer cover)
    - x1: 1&1/4"x2&1/4" rectangle of lightweight iron-on interfacing
    For the FELT PAGES you will need:
    - x1: 4&3/4"x7&3/4" rectangle*
    - x1: 4&3/4"x7&3/4" rectangle of HeatnBond/Vliesofix/Bondaweb
    - x1: 4"x7" rectangle
    - x1: 3"x6" rectangle
    (*I was able to cut all three rectangles from one A4 piece of felt.)
    Additional materials you will need:
    - x1: 11mm snap fastener/stud
    - Hand sewing needle and matching thread
    - Sewing Machine (with matching thread as well)
    - Rotary blade, ruler and mat
    - Pinking Shears
    - Fabric and craft scissors
    - Thread snips
    - Iron

    Thanks for the Mother's Day video and project! It inspires me to put all my hand sewing needles in one place. I usually keep them in their packages in a drawer, but this needle book is such a great size and has so many "pages" that I think I could put them all in this lovely needle book and still have room to mark the "pages" with the needle type/size. If I mark the size with a washable fabric marker or a small sticker it would be removable if I wanted to change the "pages". Thanks again for the inspiration! And Cath Kidston!

      Lulujoy just like some kids glue, UHU I think. But PVA would do same. It’s still held together nicely after 3 months!

    Thank you for this lovely tutorial. I have one question about the tab: is it only attched to the book by heat'nbond?

    • @AmandaRolfe
      @AmandaRolfe  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Vanessa Werkelwut No worries, I'm so glad you enjoyed it!
      Yes, the tab is attached to the book by the heat'n'bond, which is very strong and holds it in place quite nicely. :)

    Hi Amanda, love your videos! Is card suitable for making sturdy/structured purses or handbags? Regular heavyweight interface isn't enough and I'm struggling to find an alternative. Thanks x

    • @AmandaRolfe
      @AmandaRolfe  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +DustyDiy Yes, of course it is! As long it's not too thick so you can't bend it easily or sew through it. :)

    Hello, do you have any advice to attach the cardboard to the fabric? Do you think sewing fabric and cardboard together could be an option? Thank you in advance

    • @AmandaRolfe
      @AmandaRolfe  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Giulia Satta Yes, you can sew the fabric to the cardboard if that's what you would like to do. I just used simple craft/paper glue to attach mine as it was quicker. :)
