Thank you, happy you liked it!
I like the towel tip to make the sides. No more burnt fingers.
That's right :) glad you liked it.
You can tell it’s mexican by the lack of precise measurements for the harina and water 😅
haha yeah, well, a pinch of this, a poquito of that :D
Okay but aren't u supposed to add a little salt into the masa b4 u add water?
Our ancestors tell us when to stop
Excellent high quality video! Gave me multiple options for flattening out the masa and showed us different angles for forming the sope. Excellent video. Subscribing.
Thank you! glad you liked it :)

Im trying to learn how to make sopes for my first time so this is so helpful thanks ❤
hope you like the recipe! :)
Thanks for sharing !
My pleasure!
Never knew it was this easy
thank you, yes, you just need a little practice :)
I always thought sopes were fried in oil.
But here it looks like a thick tortilla shaped. Are they ready to eat after this or is there still frying needed?
Is really up to you. Traditionally, sopes are fried before garnishing, but you can also just re-heat them and add your favourite toppings. The sopes you refer are maybe "gorditas" but in some places in Mexico they call them sopes aswell :)
you can fry them if you want its optional
So, if I make them ahead of time and leave them wrapped on the counter for a few hours before dinner can I just throw them back in the pan for a quick reheating? Will they be just as good? Great video, thanks for posting it.
Sopes need to be fried before garnishing, so yes, if you make them ahead (you can even freeze them) and then fry them before garnishing they will be just as good.
Wow very tempting 😋
Could you please share what type of flour you are using? Generally we Indians are using wheat or all purpose flour.
Thanks n regards.
Sorry for the delayed answer, you need nixtamalized corn flour to make sopes.
Masa Harina
Do these freeze well?
Hi Lauren. Yes! absolutely. Wrap them in packs of 4-5 using cling film or place them inside a zip loc bag.
they like my moms
how high do we put the heat?
medium heat
I thought you were supposed to cook them longer after making the border? That's what it says on the Mexican recipe online sites, so i don't need to do that?
So is the goal for them to be a little doughy than?
Yes, they're thicker than a regular tortilla.
I tried to make these once. The water cooked out immediately and all that was left was masa harina in the pan. :(
what...no salt? Hot or Cold Water? need to be more detailed.
Hi Lydia, you don't really need salt, the toppings will add enough flavor. But if you want to, 1 to 2 teaspoons would be enough. As for the water, use room temperature water, cold is also fine, just not hot water or it will cook the dough. Hope that helps! :)
Room temperature
