    Out of the furnace brought
me here. My Father was murdered and i always wanted to take revenge but i was molded to let God take vengeance for it is his to take not ours. Im thankful for everything and the love that i have in my heart. He was a Vietnam veteran and survived 2 tours out there in the jungles to come home and be killed by Americans he fought for. Peace to all my brothers and sisters out there who were fortunate to not have their closest ones taken from them.

Sorry for your loss. Unfortunately our country is drastically changing from the days that people respected one another. I can't say that I know how you feel, hopefully I never will. I can say any man that is willing to risk his life to keep our country safe and free from terrorists & enemies, both foreign and domestic is someone to be very proud of. Too many people seemingly hate our country and don't appreciate everything that our brave men and women in uniform sacrifice, provide for us and put their families through. To everyone who thinks our country is horrible and wants to protest in favor of extremist and terrorist groups, go live in Palestine, Iran, Pakistan or North Korea. Then, and only then, should You have the right to support Authoritarian governments and regimes. If you are lucky enough to make it out of one of those countries as an American, or if you're able to survive in one of those countries being gay, lesbian, bisexual or a transgender person and you still believe that America is so horrible then you can be allowed to support those groups. IDK what has made so many Americans turn to hate and try to mask it as sympathy for people who generally back and believe in all these anti-American beliefs. I'm sorry, I could go on forever, I just want Americans to realize how good they have it here compared to the places that they are protesting and showing support for. May your father rest in peace. He definitely earned his place in Heaven. Without men like him we wouldn't be a free nation.

My dad passed, after five year's of Alzheimers. I took care of him, and I made sure he was cared for by his doctor's. I had mixed feelings about him, for he wasn't the greatest dad. He was abusive, but I tried to rise above him. I took him to places for interaction, got him his favorite foods, tried to show him love. Once the disease progressed to much, he had to be put in a facility. I had to say goodbye, twice, because he recovered from his finality. I told him, I loved him, and forgave him

    Feel the chill
    Which way to go
    Windowsill
    I see the words
On a rocking horse of time
I see the birds in the rain
    Oh, dear dad
    Can you see me now?
    I am myself
    Like you somehow
    I'll ride the wave
    Where it takes me
    I'll hold the pain
    Release me
    Oh, dead dad

Your comment got to me BIG TIME! My maternal Grandmother died from that HORRIBLE disease in 1985 after some torturous years she was finally at peace but I can still hear her singing with her booming voice in church! She loved singing and playing piano! I have some very old recordings of her. My very DEAR mother was stricken with lewy body dementia (wasn't diagnosed for a while). She SUFFERED so much! She was TERRIFIED she'd end up with Alzheimer's because of Grandma. She ended up with something even worse which does have very similar symptoms but she tried so HARD to hide for so long none of us really knew she had it. By the time we all realized it she was in very bad shape. She lived the last years in torture of her mind and body! She died in 2011. I Greave her every day of my life but wouldn't want her back like that! She also sang and played guitar with my dad and I have recordings of them as well.
I live with all these memories every day and they hurt but I can't / won't hide from it because I WANT to remember them and their lives and how loving and wonderful they were and surely did NOT DESERVE such absolutely HORRID diseases such as those. I understand I guess is what I'm saying and I identify. I HATE ALZHEIMER's and any sort of Dementia .. it has got to be the very WORST disease to ever strike human beings. I know about cancer as well as my step dad AND my biological dad both had cancer. My step dad had some symptoms and was diagnose... 3 months later he was dead. My Biological father had lung cancer as well they tried operating and not too long after that he had it ALL OVER him but he was in hell for a long time. LOSS is so hard to deal with and especially our parents with such GOD AWFUL diseases. I TREASURE their lives and honor them in my heart forever. Gone but NEVER forgotten. I try to remember happy times and so many beautiful days that make my heart sing. That is all we can do. Peace my friend and to all who have lost loved ones... PEACE and remembrance ✌🏻✌🏻💖💖🎸🎸☮☮✝✝💞💞🎶🎶

This song speaks to my soul....Hits me deep in my heart...
My father left when I was around 8, never had much of a relationship with him. He was jealous of the fact that I was close with my mother, everything was a competition with me. He died of some rare form of cancer around 2009, was sick for over a year and a half. He laid on his deathbed for months, never once asked to see me one last time. I didn't even find out he had died until a couple of months afterwards.
The words, the feelings this song elicits in me, are indescribable. Thank you to the members of Pearl Jam for this masterpiece, you have been a huge part of my life ever since I heard 'Alive' for the first time back in 1991.

I can imagine that he wanted to clear the air, make amends, explain his thoughts, his actions, why he was that way, how he came to be so,.......the fear that it is too late, that we don't or never mattered, that we are insufficient, that we are not valued, the fear that we won't be understood, rejection,......pride and stoicism are false, we all seek peace of mind and to be released from the bindings that have kept us out of the current of a fulfilling life. He wasn't a monster, he was a man, he was your father and he loved you.
