For the memory of my wife Jamile, 23 years together, and cancer took her away from me, but this song will always be ours. Always my love...keep listenin' to this one in heaven...
I’m 19 and when I first heard this song, my mother was sitting outside crying as she listened to this gorgeous creation. I was exactly 13 at the time. I didn’t realize until now how beautiful this song truly is as I listen to the first songs of my new year and decade. At a more mature age now I’m realizing how much my mother had lost to put me in a good home. I love her very much but it’s such a fragile thing. I hope 2020 treats you well.
I remember reading yrs ago that Paul McCartney said he wouldn't have traded his formative years for Lennon's, even if it meant being able to write songs like John. Reading recently about Eddie's writing "Better Man" sitting on his bed at fourteen really gave an image to Paul's story. Eddie seems to have emerged as an adult with a functioning moral compass and developed sense of empathy, from which all can flow. Good on ya, Eddie.
Great music/poetry, can't wait for the new album that's probably coming out this year. I can only hope they keeps some slow songs in the album. Don't get me wrong, I love songs like Porch, and Deep, but there's something about their softer melodies.
Bryden you do seem very mature by appreciating your mother. Many never understand until their mother passes on from this Earth, moved on to another plane of existence. A bond forged between a mother and child is forever strong. Rarely broken. The child in attaining independence can sometimes wound deeply, a wound that can never heal as it scabs over and is opened repeatedly. Occasionally the wound heals leaving a dark and prominent scar to forever remind the two that nothing will ever be the same. Good journey to you in this life.
"It's a fragile thing This life we lead If I think too much I can get over- Whelmed by the grace By which we live our lives With death over our shoulder Want you to know That should I go I always loved you Held you high above, true I study your face And the fear goes away" Can't get any deeper than that. incredible lyrics.
Incredible lyrics Haunting and beautiful This will always be dedicated to one of the true loves of my life Shannon I know you can hear this song in heaven and every part of it is perfect for you and your beautiful soul. I miss you so much and can’t believe you will have been gone ten years this November. One day when I see you again maybe it will all make sense why you had to leave us so soon. Rest In Peace my beautiful girl.
Right!? I love that the climax of this song is him switching guitars from 12 String acoustic to electric and then Ed grabs an acoustic. Matt on harmony and Stone playing electric throughout. It’s a change up that highlights their talent amazingly. Even Boom’s keys shine and when they all sing ah-ha, oh-oh together…. The absolute best. 💜
My mother passed away in July this year (2020) from cancer, and while I was holding her hand, literally feeling her life leave her body, this song popped into my head, I’ve been listening to it constantly ever since then, it’s helping me with the grief when it hits suddenly.
@GnormPlays my stepmom, my father's wife, died on her 2nd round with cancer on august 31st. i wasnt very close to her, as my actual mother died from ALS in 2010. i feel you, man.
In addition to the fact that this is just a beautiful song, I love how generous the band members are too each other while they play it. Mike writing it and Ed writing such poignant lyrics, all of them singing together, Ed picking up the acoustic guitar part so Mike can switch to electric for his solo, the looks they give each other. It just feels like they are in a great place together as a band and as friends and that comes across so much in the music. Rock on gentlemen.
I LOVE this song and THE MEANING of it. And when I'm feeling that hurt from loosing my husband I play this over and over....Thank you Eddie Vedder. Your voice is BEAUTIFUL and I feel it in this song at a deep level. Its been 4 years, I cant think of anyone else I even want in my life. I LOVED my husband with every beat of my heart. He still is my everything, I cant let go and I;m so sick of ppl telling me to move on!!! YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND THE LOVE WE HAD!! I WILL SEE HIM AGAIN.
I wouldn't have understood this song before losing my grandmother over something that seemed innocuous as all hell: a cold. We all get colds, it didn't seem anything weird. But when this song came out, the line about "the fragile lives we live" along with the beauty and truly soulful feel of this song just hit me differently and I cried. I still listen to this song often and I'm reminded of the time we did have together, 19 years seems so little when I wanted all the years.
I've always loved this song. It's about how a married man is aware of his own mortality and how it helps him treasure his life with the one he loves. PJ has always made great music, this is one of their best
ultrakool exactly, and the sirens are ambulances in the city and he wonders if they will come for him next time because he is unsure if he wants to live longer
My dad is dying. The effects of dementia are taking its toll. He doesn't know he is sick. It's heartbreaking to watch, yet when he sees his wife he is calmed. All these years I never knew this song. And yet after a particularly rough day, it finds me. And I'm thankful I am not alone.
@@virginiaknighten4687 Thank you for your kindness. My dad is still doing as well as can be expected. A change in medication has bought him a reprieve.
I feel like Sirens is the continuation of Black. Black is about love and heartache in youth, and Sirens is about love in middle age. Here we have the same person who once cried about a lost love in Black, but 20 years later. Now he has found his star, and he reflects on life, mortality and is overcome by the fear of losing it. This is why I think this is one of the best songs in the entire career of PJ.
One of many...in spite of all the harsh criticisms this band has faced. Mainly due to Eddie's pretentious attitudes. Still, perhaps that's a bit needed to a certain extent...to another extent please NO!!! This is a band many just love to hate even though just about all can't help but tap their toes & hum along.
@@victorhugozamaconaugalde3872Yes, I think this is better than Jeremy. But that is me. You might feel differently. Isn't it amazing that there's 8 billion people and we all have different tastes?

"knowing that nothing lasts forever", man that hit hard, but knowing that we 're all in this together somehow alleviates the pain. These lyrics are pure poetry, some of the best I 've ever come across and bathing them with such music is something to thank this band for.
I would always hear my dad play this song when I was little. I can’t even describe the memories that flow back. It makes me miss being young and naive. I appreciate my dad so much from this song. Thank you for playing this around me.
God bless you Eddie. I love this song. I never thought i could get emotional, until this song. I have always been a Pearl Jam fan. Your singing are heartbreaking. Why i love this song. I also lost my husband to cancer three years ago. Thank you for helping me to see again.
Pearl Jam Hear the sirens Hear the sirens Hear the sirens, hear the circus so profound I hear the sirens more and more in this here town Let me catch my breath to breathe then reach across the bed Just to know we’re safe, I am a grateful man This slightest bit of light and I can see you clear Hmm, have to take your hand, and feel your breath For fear this someday will be over I pull you close, so much to lose Knowing that nothing lasts forever I didn't care, before you were here I danced in laughter with the everafter But all things change, let this remain Hear the sirens covering distance in the night The sound, echoing closer Will they come for me next time? For every choice, mistake I've made, it's not my plan To send you in the arms of another man And if you choose to stay, I’ll wait, I’ll understand Huh, it’s a fragile thing this life we lead If I think too much, I can't get over Whelmed by the grace By which we live our lives With death over our shoulders Want you to know, that should I go I always loved you, held you high above, true I study your face The fear goes away It’s a fragile thing this life we lead If I think too much, I can't get over Whelmed by the grace By which we live our lives With death over our shoulders Want you to know, that should I go I always loved you, held you high above, true I study your face The fear goes away The fear goes away The fear goes away
Just when you thought you couldn't love Pearl Jam any more than you already do... Eddie's voice just lends itself to songs that get inside you and tear you up from within. The power of the vulnerability in this is fucking exquisite. Where Black was a look into a man turning his pain inward, Sirens communicates that pain to someone outside of himself; this is what growth as an artist looks like, folks.
Dear Pearl Jam, thank you for existing and making this world a better place with your music. Your enormous talent, your artistic integrity, your devotion speak volumes of your priceless contribution in the world of Art. Keep on rocking! - A long, long time rock fan from Greece. Since the days of good ol' grunge.
This song is so beautiful. I get chills every single time I listen to it. Eddie your voice is gorgeous just as you are. Thank you Pearl Jam for the many years of music you have given all of us.
This song by Eddie is one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard...he's amazing, like him doesn't exist...he sings with heart and soul...he's perfect. I consider him the best singer-songwriter of all time!!!! ❤️❤️
You totally rock Doris, you've just made me smile n I'm grateful for that. I'm 43 n still rocking, looks like I've alot more rocking to do yet. Thank you👍🇨🇮

I fell in love with Pearl Jam for their raging grunge hits off Ten. Over the years, I've come to appreciate their softer, more sentimental music even more. These guys are freaking DEEP.
Keep loving my friend. I had stage 4 throat cancer 2007. I’m so lucky I have a love that looks after me. Keep the faith and these guys help big time. I feel your loss buddy. Stay well

@@christinacope562 so much so that you experience bittersweet ruminations at the most innocuous moments. Eddie Vedder is the last remaining frontman of the grunge era. R.I.P. Kurt Cobain, Scott Weiland, Layne Staley, and Chris Cornell...you guys produced some of the best music ever known to mankind! This song "Sirens" is yet another beautiful masterpiece.
Shit I didn't even realize that! but your right now that Chris is gone did Layne die from suicide or overdose? or suicide by overdose? Kurt, Chris, Eddie were the biggest voices of that flannel, jeans shorts doc martins, smokin' a spliff and playing hacky sack SIPA we called it and I can't remember why. But we Still have Eddie making waves and we can't think about the 90s without thinking about RHCP, Rage Against the Machine, Nickleback, Janes Addiction, Bush X, STP, REM, I Mother Earth, and for me Metallica NIN Marilyn Manson, GnR, White Zombie, Cyprus Hill, Busta Rhymes, Silver Chair, The Tea Party, And of course the Tony Hawk Pro Skater 2 Sound track !
Absolute masterpiece. One day, when my time comes I want this played at my funeral. This is quite possibly the most moving song I've ever heard. "It's a fragile thing this life we lead". So powerful and meaningful. I'm a rather callous person but this song really breaks me down and grips my soul.

I grew up hearing my dad play Pearl Jam and many other great Bands. 70’s and up on vinyl. This song makes me cry every time I listen to it. Eddie veder will always be on my list!!!!
Its CRAZY how his voice is still EXACTLY like it was in 1990. I have grown to truly love pearl jam. And Eddie IS a legitimate legend. An american treasure.

So I've listened to this song and watched the video umpteen million times along with each and every song ever performed and written by the GOAT in music history present and future: PEARL JAM. I have never in my eh em (clears throat) young life saw so much heart and passion from a singer, songwriter, performer, musician. And I don't believe I will ever see it again. This song in particular (not my favorite, but I love them all) shows Eddie's heart, and soul and I believe we are blessed to have witnessed this band's career. Their music is sing along-able, danceable, relatable. In each song Eddie has a subject, a story to tell, and he covers all four corners of that subject, very thorough. And he describes the subject in such a way that we get it, and have no questions after the songs end. Pearl Jam, Eddie, Stone, Mike, Matt, Jeff and of course Boom, thank you for sharing your life, your loves, and your deepest feelings with the world, I am so thankful that I could be a part of it even if it is just listening. You have blessed me immensely. Keep up the amazing work, please...and tour one more time, and play a show in Reno, NV please.
In memory of the love of my life, my sun and moon, my universe of countless stars, my saviour, my biggest fan and a mother who trascended in so many ways for being full of love and hope. Eva Alejandra, this song always holds my hand like when you held mine while driving our car, I'm in worst shape without you and I'm nothing. Still, your sons lift me up and make me believe once again. Te amo tanto mi amor, I will see you again and will find you in the next life.
When I look back at the craziest things I did in my teenage years, I feel gratitude for the simple fact of being alive. How many times have we danced in laughter in the ever after? I did so many times times!. Love is the only thing capable of bringing good sense to our lives. I'd say the song is about Love vs fear because we all fear and know that we may lose the ones we love at any time.. Let's enjoy life and appreciate the ones we love as if there's no tomorrow because the sirens will come for all of us one day!
Such a great song! Fell in love with it when it was first released. Later on , it took on a whole new meaning for me. I heard the sirens coming for me, and again after the paramedics loaded me up. I was dying. I'm a grateful heart attack survivor. I thank Pearl Jam for this song, and I thank God for a new lease on life!!
This band reminds of simpler times when I was ignorantly bliss. They told me things would change but i didn’t think it would be so drastic. I just wish life wasn’t so damn hard.
Sim, verdade.

Vermilion pt 2 does the same for me. I've come back to this song over and over again for years just for the feelings it invokes. Sirens is an amazing song. Makes me miss the grunge rock of the 90s so much.
Agree 100% it's a fragile thing, this life we lead.... Remember when this song first came out, definitely think the level of appreciation for it increases over time. Love that part, "Studied your face, the fear goes away", that line gets me every time.
Eddie vedder is the man, thee voice of rock n grunge at present. Give the man the alphabet and he'd sing it in 26 different notes, tones and key's. Truly amazing.
This song ripped my heart out, especially during the beginning scary scary days/months of the pandemic, as I struggled to make it through a VERY rough bout of Covid, alone, in my house, afraid to go to the hospital b/c I didn't think I'd come out alive. This was at the start, when no one knew what was happening, no vaccine, no real treatment, just ventilators that most people never got off of. I lived 20 minutes from Kirkland, WA, the place where the US had their first recorded Covid deaths in the nursing home facility there. There were nights I was afraid I wouldn't be able to dial 911 if I needed help breathing, so I'd have it pre-dialed, lying next to me, in bed. I listened to this song night after night, wondering if the sirens would be coming for me, yet somehow, I was comforted, thinking there's some point when the fear really does go away. Thankfully, I made it through, but millions did not. Be safe out there, people. Thank you, Pearl Jam and Eddie Vedder, for getting me through some of the most terrifying nights of my life.
I am glad you survived! I don't know you but I experienced something very similar but it was my 6yr old grandson who was sick, then my son (his daddy) I was so scared of losing them, losing them is not an option what would my three other grandsons do without their daddy and brother? Then my sister and brother in law caught it, then I did...I was home alone too, I've never been so scared in my life, thank God we all survived with no lasting effects! God bless you!
Yeah, it's been a long road. To think I bought Vitalogy when I was 21 and how that sped up style, which I actually still love, was appropriate for me then, this, as an older man, resonates with me now more in it's soulfullness. That's why music is so powerful. It's part of everybody's individual book.
Gracias Totales!
I was actually just about to comment on that! I could totally hear the difference, albeit subtle. You have very keen ear as well. This is more of a live performance than a music video with the studio recording dubbed over.
This song reminds me of my girlfriend so much. In the beginning of our relationship, we fought so hard, trying to learn one another. It was like sirens going off in my head and heart. Before her, I had other relationships, but also had some pretty hardcore Suicide Ideation, so the line "I didn't care, before you were here. I danced in laughter with the ever after" (1:35) brings me to tears every time. She really taught me to look at life differently.

The child in attaining independence can sometimes wound deeply, a wound that can never heal as it scabs over and is opened repeatedly. Occasionally the wound heals leaving a dark and prominent scar to forever remind the two that nothing will ever be the same.

@GnormPlays my stepmom, my father's wife, died on her 2nd round with cancer on august 31st. i wasnt very close to her, as my actual mother died from ALS in 2010. i feel you, man.
You will be in my prayers, to help you cope with the loss of your Mother. God bless you.
Love from the Philippines brother. Keep safe and stay strong. She is always with you.
Keep going stronger.. May she rest in piece. Love from Portugal ❤
No matter where I’m at in life this song tears me to shreds every time grown ass man weeping
Essa música me causa a mesma sensação
The same 😢
In addition to the fact that this is just a beautiful song, I love how generous the band members are too each other while they play it.

@@winstonsmith9424 well stated comeback and valid contribution to the discussion. ya got me. 🙄
God forbid someone listening to a song by a band would be a fan of them, right?
It's Grunge man. Not the music. The Heart of it.
Your comment is bang on the money. We are so blessed having PJ still performing to the HIGHEST level.

GOD BLESS YOU!!!!
Love never dies. You will meet again ❤️
As Iman just said about David Bowie and why she hasn't had another relationship: He's not my late husband...He's my husband.
Your so right ...
+Joey Kaplan Great coment! Totally agree with you
+Joey Kaplan You said it best. Gets to the heart & soul. Love Pearl Jam.
nah, not even close. it's about a divorced man, who is now regretting his lost love, that went sour. too bad, so sad..
ultrakool exactly, and the sirens are ambulances in the city and he wonders if they will come for him next time because he is unsure if he wants to live longer
My dad is dying. The effects of dementia are taking its toll. He doesn't know he is sick. It's heartbreaking to watch, yet when he sees his wife he is calmed. All these years I never knew this song. And yet after a particularly rough day, it finds me. And I'm thankful I am not alone.
My best wishes to your father.

This is the most beautiful love song I've ever heard in my 54 years
This song always makes me cry. Eddie's heart and soul is so into it. He has the voice of an angel.
No autotune, no attitude, no fancy clothes. Just jeans and t-shirts plus an amazing amount of talent
One of the few truly fortunate, has been granted imense talent and modesty, so rare...
@Fu Ggl is a massive pile of wrought iron. How's that?
couldent of said it any better i agree
There is a bit of autotune though (not to be that guy)
@The Truth of the Matter Yeah but at least it's attitude by people who have earned it
I love how in the chorus Eddie rises his voice up a notch in each sentence and ends the verse beautifully.
That was beautiful. Couldn’t agree more ❤️
Well said. Agreed.
Quem aí de 2024 ainda ? Essa música tem uma performance perfeita👏🏻🤌🏻
Years are gone, but this song is still great! Maybe one of the best of Pearl Jam!

"knowing that nothing lasts forever", man that hit hard, but knowing that we 're all in this together somehow alleviates the pain. These lyrics are pure poetry, some of the best I 've ever come across and bathing them with such music is something to thank this band for.
Hear the sirens
Hear the sirens
Hear the sirens, hear the circus so profound
I hear the sirens more and more in this here town
Let me catch my breath to breathe then reach across the bed
Just to know we’re safe, I am a grateful man
This slightest bit of light and I can see you clear
Hmm, have to take your hand, and feel your breath
For fear this someday will be over
I pull you close, so much to lose
Knowing that nothing lasts forever
I didn't care, before you were here
I danced in laughter with the everafter
But all things change, let this remain
Hear the sirens covering distance in the night
The sound, echoing closer
Will they come for me next time?
For every choice, mistake I've made, it's not my plan
To send you in the arms of another man
And if you choose to stay, I’ll wait, I’ll understand
Huh, it’s a fragile thing this life we lead
If I think too much, I can't get over
Whelmed by the grace
By which we live our lives
With death over our shoulders
Want you to know, that should I go
I always loved you, held you high above, true
I study your face
The fear goes away
It’s a fragile thing this life we lead
If I think too much, I can't get over
Whelmed by the grace
By which we live our lives
With death over our shoulders
Want you to know, that should I go

Just when you thought you couldn't love Pearl Jam any more than you already do... Eddie's voice just lends itself to songs that get inside you and tear you up from within. The power of the vulnerability in this is fucking exquisite. Where Black was a look into a man turning his pain inward, Sirens communicates that pain to someone outside of himself; this is what growth as an artist looks like, folks.

Hold on to the the ones you love. In the end, it's all that really matters.
This is one of my all-time favorite songs from Pearl jam

Sim, verdade.

Thank you, Pearl Jam and Eddie Vedder, for getting me through some of the most terrifying nights of my life.
i had covid 2 times. 40 years old. still alive. afraid of mrna vaccine instead

Didn't appreciate enough this wonderful piece of art when it was released.
It speaks to my soul now that I'm slighltly older. A masterpiece.
Yeah, it's been a long road. To think I bought Vitalogy when I was 21 and how that sped up style, which I actually still love, was appropriate for me then, this, as an older man, resonates with me now more in it's soulfullness. That's why music is so powerful. It's part of everybody's individual book.
Totally agree. As I've gotten older I appreciate the beauty of this song even more
Gracias Totales!
Aguante Argentina y aguante pearl jam!!!!!!!!!!!
Oh my god I love these boys so much. They've soundtracked my life.
I simply can't listen to this song without crying. I can't.
This is such a wonderful song, I can't even believe how beautiful it is.
They're so good, I bet most people don't even hear this is a live recording. What a gorgeous, gorgeous song.
I was actually just about to comment on that! I could totally hear the difference, albeit subtle. You have very keen ear as well. This is more of a live performance than a music video with the studio recording dubbed over.
That's been a cool thing about them - they have recorded several music videos live, including Alive.
Eddie always feels his songs and puts so much emotion in them.
"Message to my grandkids "
When it's 2100 , by any chances if you're here then always be proud that your grandpa was born in era when people loved kurt , eddie , chris music and appreciated them from their heart.
This is one of the masterpieces your grandpa used to listen .
And here are all my friends in comments who listen to this masterpiece. I love you guys .
And I love you my grandkids .
☺☺
Having a message is one thing but having the perfect voice to covey it puts this man in a league of his own. Love pearl Jam and Eddie Vedder. One of the best to ever do it!
Hurts so much. Takes my emotions away: It helps, thanks Eddie.
Such a beautiful man; a voice of a butch angel.
This,.. is SINGING 🎤
No lip syncing. No auto tune.
No crazy lights and stage show.
Listening to a legend is his ACTUAL voice..
*for all you millieneels
I listen to this song on repeat. It feels like old Pearl Jam and Eddie's voice hasn't changed.
Good morning 🌞 , how are you, hope you’re in good health?
How can you not like this song? It provokes so much emotion. Love it
Here’s a quote I came up with late one evening: “when the experience becomes a memory, music will forever be the reminder’.
Every time I hear this song something hurts inside me. It's like an arrow straight to the heart. Great Pearl Jam ♥️🔥🦋
I know that feeling! Totally agree! I ❤️Pearl Jam!! 😊💓🤘✌️
@Eddievedder3156 To your perception. Nothing has been broken. Nothing.
Fear is not a good refuge.
Your spirit can illuminate the world.
Sing, compose. Do it.
♥️🔥🦋
Sim
I don't think I will ever get enough of Eddie Vedder's voice.
me neither!!!!
Him and Chris Cornell have the two best voices of all time imo.
@@Sonof_DRN2004 Yes!
Yeah! He was working in a gas station before! Grateful that Jack Irons found him!
Nope. With Chris and Staley gone he needs secret service protection
My fiancée is/was such a die hard Pearl Jam fan. The first time he heard this song, he said it described perfectly his feelings and love he had for me. I lost him 3 yrs ago unexpectedly and I wasn't with him when he passed. So, everytime I listen to this I wonder... If he studied my face so he wasn't afraid. 😢😢😢
2022.. E essa música se torna um vício... Quanto mais escuto, mais quero ouvir... Melhor Banda sem dúvidas...
