Bill medley and Elvis met in Las Vegas elvis was bill's idol and Bill was elvis's idol elvis's even sung unchained melody cause he loved the righteous Brothers music elvis's also was great friends with Tom Jones! And that picture of elvis with the beard was from his western movie charro he had some great movies 31 movies he did also!
Beautiful trubute from Bill. They both performed in Las Vegas. Bill said he once stood at the bottom of the stage as Elvis ran up the steps onto the stage, and he realized in awe This is Elvis Presley The Superstar! The roar of the crowd, the music, electrifying suspence in the air, the energy, charisma. He then realized how massive his friend really was, after always only chatting to him in a hotel room or dressing room.
Bill Medley was totally heartbroken when news of Elvis’ death broke. Medley was a member of the Righteous Brothers, which had a huge hit with, among others, «Unchained Melody». Medley also sang the global hit, «I’ve had the time of my life», from «Dirty Dancing»-movie.
Bill Medley tells a funny story about Elvis supporting him on his solo show ( i think it was at the Hilton Hotel). Thank you for this lovely tribute reaction!💚☀️
Beautiful!!!! There are many many tribute songs made for Elvis. There's a GREAT story that Bill tells of him and Elvis. I believe Travis and Suzie reacted to it. 😊
I'm Norwegian and loved that song when I was younger in the 90s without realizing it was about Elvis🥹 It wasn't until this last year I found out and my jaw dropped. Then I LISTENED to it with tears in my eyes💙
Ok this made me cry AGAIN, after just watching the funeral one, I'm now a real mess! Bill and Elvis each played their shows in Vegas and would often hang out, they were good friends. There is a video of Bill telling a funny story about him and Elvis.
Very beautiful. you want to be blown away, soul man James Brown also did a tribute, sat by his casket at the funeral. "James Brown's Tribute to Elvis, "Love Me Tender". Thanks guys you two are cute. Thanks and be blessed.😍🥰
Such a lovely tribute. Elvis had so many great friends. Bill got to know Elvis while they were both performing in LasVegas. They had many good times together and many good talks and laughs. Interesting how many still miss him and love him.❤❤❤
Elvis used to go to the Righteous Brothers shows when they were still playing clubs in LA. He'd slip in incognito so he could enjoy their soul singing undisturbed. Both 'brothers' got to know Elvis early on. When Bill went solo in 1968, he and Elvis were both playing in Las Vegas and that's when they developed a closer friendship, having a lot in common besides music ... for one thing they both rode motorbikes 🙂
Bill and Elvis were great friends, both were appearing Vegas and use to get together alot, , on many occasions. Not sure if you viewed the video, "The Echo will never die," it's on U tube check it out and you will learn a lot about Elvis and the black community. There are 2 parts to it, again "the Echo will never die"
The beard is from the movie CHARO, A westerner movie Elvis didn't sing in, but did sing the title song to the movie...Elvis had to grow a beard for this movie, check it out ,Title song was "Charo"
Elvis joined the army on his own accord and while he was in the army his mother died, But I wonder had he refused I'm sure his mother would've helped him much better as he was her only son. Elvis was born a twin but Jesse died at birth.
"When Elvis Presley turned 18 on January 8, 1953, he fulfilled his patriotic duty and legal obligation to 'register his name with the Selective Service System.' He 'filed for his draft card on Jan. 19, 1953,' 11 days after his 18th birthday, thereby meaning he could be 'subject to military conscription and drafted at anytime' to serve active duty in the armed forces. That fated day came on this day, Dec. 20, 1957 while spending the Christmas holidays at Graceland, Elvis 'received his draft notice' for the United States Army. Presley wrote a letter to the draft board asking if he could defer his two-year service until he wrapped up filming the movie, King Creole. The Memphis Draft Board granted him a deferment until the following March. He was sworn in as an army private on March 24, 1958." On the internet you can see images of is Registration Certificate, Notice of Induction, his Draft card, etc.

I've heard many Elvis tribute songs, but this is the first time hearing this one. Thanks for playing. Love Elvis.
Country singer Ronnie McDowell did a tribute song called The King is Gone in 1977. He said he wrote it right after he heard the news of Elvis dying.

Black Velvet by Alannah Myles is so good. It is so R &B and soulful that people get caught up in the music and miss the words of the song.

He was drafted. He served, but he did not join on his own accord.

@colmflaherty3963 - above is correct info regarding Elvis' draft into the Army (my comment directly to you disappeared)
