Very true. It would be ironic if Biden went through with his threat to pull US team funding for that would probably mean the women would have to take a pay cut, assuming they would be able to play at all.
If government stepped into this issue in any way I would shut down the team I owned. Close the stadiums and pay to have it tore down. Lay off the teams and give them all the finger.

Edit: Thinking about it, soccer might be the most egalitarian sport, given that it doesn't require that much athleticism, (how much upper body strength is required?) but still the gender gap is completely insurmountable.

I am stunned at how inept US Soccer is at explaining this to the press/public. Every time the WNT say they are being paid less, the counter statement should clearly say they are being paid more and list all the benefits that WNT get. They might have won the case, but they clearly are losing in the court of public opinion.
It's not that they are bad at explaining it, it's that their explanations are published through press conferences which are only delivered in sound bites that are selected to paint the picture that fits a narrative.

I don't think its dishonesty. I think it is a lack of critical thinking which is directly linked to the destruction of the education system wrought by political parties who recognize that a stupid population is easy to manipulate. It takes a working brain to be able to look at the big picture like considering benefits (both real and intangible) plus salary when evaluating compensation. When your education system is afraid to teach evolution, be honest about sexuality, religion and race relations for example, you have an education system that fails everyone. When your education system destroys free thought and critical thinking your people forget how to question the validity of what they are presented. What the politicians don't realize is that they did indeed make the population easy to manipulate, not just by the political parties, but easy to manipulate by any special interest group that has an axe to grind. It was Lincoln who said "You can fool all the people some of the time, and some of the people all the time, but you cannot fool all the people all the time." but you can skew that in either direction if you make your population less or more educated. These athletes were given a soundbite and took it as truth from the school of tick-tock and Instagram.
Remember kids, if women get paid less, why do employeers even consider hiring men?
I'd say it's because employers are willing to pay more so the work actually gets done, but if we're being honest employers are never willing to pay more.

If men and women had the same level of productivity throughout their career, in any industry, yet they can pay women less, only women would be hired. Why pay men more to get the same level of productivity?
I work in a heavy construction factory. there are some jobs there that women are not allowed to do simply because their bodies are weaker. then, there are jobs that the women simply will not do--just yesterday I had a woman tell me she had to wait for a guy to come and tighten these nuts on an axle cuz she can't. I seem to remember that just a few months ago we had this little tiny guy do that job, he simply added an extension to the torque wrench making it possible for him to get the pressure needed. she could have done the same, she just didn't want to...
The wage gap isn't that women get paid less for the same job, it's that women don't have the same opportunities as men. This soccer fiasco is distracting from the real problems women face in trying to get the same pay as men. Problems like men being given bigger and better projects, men being given more opportunities and chances to rise to the top of companies, men preferring to work with other men than risk working on equal ground with a woman or lord forbid working under a woman. It's not about the paychecks they get, it's about the paychecks they're not offered.

The truth is that if our best athletes played soccer and not football or basketball we would win the world cup. Check the gold medals. Soccer is developing more and more in the US while other countries have focused on it for over 100 years.
Well they DO in theory. But I am not sure if the propability of this happening is even above 1%... I'd say (without wanting to be mean to those players) that it is more likely that hell freezes over.

Feminism attempts to achieve equality on all grounds. Female chauvinism attempts to become superior to men. If a person calls themselves a "feminist" but doesn't act like one, then it doesn't modify the original term because it's been engraved for so long in history, hence they aren't a feminist. Deeds are capable of changing the definition of something, however if that something has been engraved with a very simple sentence of equality for many years, then no, it won't change meanings.

ok so wether you agree or not with wage gap, lets look at the facts and how this TH-cam is either or purpose ignoring all the information or presenting it in bad faith.
Lets look at specific the details bright up here. Men had employee benefits in addition to salary. When woman was offered mens deal they where not offered the same deal, they where offered pay, but not the employee benefits that the men got included. So what Nate here is saying is that Option A for woman is the same as A+B for men bc reasons that fit his narrative. If you are going to argue that the woman did get same deal you also need to explain that they dd not get the employee benefits the men did. Just bc it comes from a different agreement does not mean you can disregard it for the men but count it as salary for the woman.
If you look up the calculations the judge made as well if you look int the case you do fins that his calculations are somewhat wrong. He compared win salary for woman with lose salary for men in short terms. So for woman to have equal salary as the judge pointed out they need to win most of the cases while the men can lose same amount.
It does nt matter wether you agree with gender gap or nt I really hate those populists that play on emotions over facts and presenting it in full, just to get more views or fit a false narrative, like Nate here did just now. This is also reason why you have so much untrustworthy media in US as well as the divisive culture war going on

The key work being entertainment - the size of the audience is what is supposed to dictate pay in entertainment, there's no such thing as "doing the same job" otherwise lower league footballers would be paid the same as D1 players, or music artists would be paid the same, actors etc. Women are paid less because the audience is much much smaller. Look at the WNBA and NBA, the NBA massively subsidises the WNBA and they still are unprofitable, yet their women want more money and have the nerve to even ask for as much as the men make despite not being able to draw enough of an audience to justify the pay they are already getting! It's insanity and ironically sexist.

I think realistically what they should be advocating for is to attract as much audience to buy tickets, merch and otherwise support their proffesional clubs, which will additionally generate more lucrative sponsorship deals, bigger TV broadcasting deals etc. etc., ultimately resulting in better wages and benefits for the players. This can be I think mostly achieved in sports like handball, tennis, volleyball, track & field, swimming and some winter sports, however for soccer / football it is quite hard, women's games being in general much less spectacular compared to men's games for the average spectator.

They'll surpass us in a couple years just like in mens soccer.

The women would have more game absences overall, which is why they wouldn’t want a pay to play deal… however, they are champions and will consistently bring home the gold vs the tin men bring(on a good day). Compensation, taking into account the win/loss income plus bonuses comparable to the men’s schedule , the women are severely underpaid! Apples to Apples, the Comp should be equal to an agreed upon minimum that is mutually beneficial. Women leagues around the world are probably less competitive, however, the proceeds from each game are vastly different. The women bring the US all of the bacon while the men don’t even bring home the side dish.

It's worth pointing out that it is much more likely that the USWNT will win their World Cup than it is for the men to win their World Cup. The men's WC is also much more popular and brings in more money. So the USSF logically wouldn't pay the women the same amount for something that is easier to achieve and less monetarily valuable.

There’s no way to feel about it. It’s pretty obvious. The devils in the details and she tried to hide them under her skirt going into the courtroom. Sheesh.🤷🏽 I’ve never had an employer who didn’t include your benefits as part of your total compensation package. So basically she tried to cherry pick the details and hope nobody would notice. The media obviously didn’t. I would think that a reputable news organization, one dedicated to fairness, would point that out. But I guess I’m wrong. That would leave the company hiring the reporter open to cancellation on social media, which that majority of people believe without scrutiny anyway. Oh, we’ll. At least we had a smart judge.
