      Sadly they cannot renegotiate a contracted agreement cause that will also open up the ability for your plumber to go to court and renegotiate the quotes they've given you.
      As it stands, if a plumber quotes you $100 for a $200 job and you accept, they are bound to suck up the loss. I'd rather not see a policy change that would allow crappy workers to underbid and then give you a massive bill at the end cause they "renegotiated"

It's easy to google, and both of the CBAs are in the legal documents, so if this TH-camr wasn't a fake lawyer, he would've used both the CBAs to make an honest comparison, which show the ticket prices. Also, 2015 through now, the women have also sold more tickets and attracted bigger crowds than the men. I don't think its dishonesty. I think it is a lack of critical thinking which is directly linked to the destruction of the education system wrought by political parties who recognize that a stupid population is easy to manipulate. It takes a working brain to be able to look at the big picture like considering benefits (both real and intangible) plus salary when evaluating compensation. When your education system is afraid to teach evolution, be honest about sexuality, religion and race relations for example, you have an education system that fails everyone. When your education system destroys free thought and critical thinking your people forget how to question the validity of what they are presented. What the politicians don't realize is that they did indeed make the population easy to manipulate, not just by the political parties, but easy to manipulate by any special interest group that has an axe to grind. It was Lincoln who said "You can fool all the people some of the time, and some of the people all the time, but you cannot fool all the people all the time." but you can skew that in either direction if you make your population less or more educated. ok so wether you agree or not with wage gap, lets look at the facts and how this TH-cam is either or purpose ignoring all the information or presenting it in bad faith.
      Lets look at specific the details bright up here. Men had employee benefits in addition to salary. When woman was offered mens deal they where not offered the same deal, they where offered pay, but not the employee benefits that the men got included. So what Nate here is saying is that Option A for woman is the same as A+B for men bc reasons that fit his narrative. If you are going to argue that the woman did get same deal you also need to explain that they dd not get the employee benefits the men did. Just bc it comes from a different agreement does not mean you can disregard it for the men but count it as salary for the woman.
      If you look up the calculations the judge made as well if you look int the case you do fins that his calculations are somewhat wrong. He compared win salary for woman with lose salary for men in short terms. So for woman to have equal salary as the judge pointed out they need to win most of the cases while the men can lose same amount.
      It does nt matter wether you agree with gender gap or nt I really hate those populists that play on emotions over facts and presenting it in full, just to get more views or fit a false narrative, like Nate here did just now. This is also reason why you have so much untrustworthy media in US as well as the divisive culture war going on

Look at the WNBA and NBA, the NBA massively subsidises the WNBA and they still are unprofitable, yet their women want more money and have the nerve to even ask for as much as the men make despite not being able to draw enough of an audience to justify the pay they are already getting! • @raquelbentim
    @raquelbentim 3 ปีที่แล้ว +372

    Fantastic overview. There's a few even deeper layers to this that sometimes is hard for the casual viewer not familiar with international soccer to understand. In the men's game, their day job is with their clubs (if they're national team players, it usually means they are elite players and bring big paychecks from their clubs). Getting called up for the national team is the utmost honor and goal for a player, but there's vicious competition for each spot and you might get a few calls in and then never again. For the USWNT, their day job IS the national team. They pay salary, benefits and bonuses, and because of that they are basically guaranteed the call up for a whole year. The US womens league is subsidized by the federation, and the US federation puts on multiple tournaments a year just for the womens NT to get playing time. They invite a couple other teams as punching bags so Carli Lloyd can score 30 goals per round. This doesnt happen for the men. They follow the FIFA calendar for international breaks, when their clubs can release them to play for their national teams. The clubs in the womens US league are obligated to release the national team players every other month, while the league is still going. These players are also "designated players" in their clubs, which means the league doesn't have a cap on their club salary. In the world stage, the USWNT are the most priviledged female sports team IN THE WORLD. There were teams in last WC who's entire roster were amateour players who have other day jobs and are not even paid to play soccer professionally. This is why they are so dominant. They are the epitome of the rich girls club who wins everything, and there's nothing remarkable about that.

      So glad someone pointed this out because I was just about to. This should be the most upvoted comment on the video. There’s even a few other deeper layers like how the federation incentivizes the women to stay in the NWSL (rather than go abroad) with guaranteed $60K+. Big name players in the NWSL keeps butts in seats so the federation is also, in a roundabout way, supporting the growth of the women’s game in America under this current pay structure.

      The wage gap isn't that women get paid less for the same job, it's that women don't have the same opportunities as men. This soccer fiasco is distracting from the real problems women face in trying to get the same pay as men. Problems like men being given bigger and better projects, men being given more opportunities and chances to rise to the top of companies, men preferring to work with other men than risk working on equal ground with a woman or lord forbid working under a woman. It's not about the paychecks they get, it's about the paychecks they're not offered.

      @James Stewart I have never seen a gap in my working life. Jobs have had grades of pay where I have worked and it didn't matter what sex you were as long as you could do they job and that was over 25 years ago. Plenty of women as supervisors and managers where I have worked too. In fact I would say they are treated better and get more chance of promotion these days. They appear to be applying 1950s era conditions (where they were under paid) to modern day, just like BLM do. If you tell a demographic they are a victim, they will try and take full advantage, its human nature. So funny how athletes are now suddenly having "mental health issues". This will probably spill over into the general working population. Western world is becoming weak and pathetic, China must be laughing.

      @@jmfreedome9863 but I can lament not only at others, but at my own distractable nature. There are many things I believe I should study, but don't. For many people though I think our current situation is also due to the fact that people have jobs and families and responsibilities to tend to and don't have the time/energy it takes to research every news article on their own. People have come to trust a certain news provider and then believe everything they say. If people didn't misrepresent and lie about things we potentionally could live that way. If not for sources like this I would have continued believing what my friend told me about the womens/mens soccer pay gap not realising that the issue is more complex than that. That is why I am really grateful to people like Nate here that invest their time and energy to represent the facts.

    People often confuse "Compensation" with "Salary'. Just look at Steve Jobs: he famously drew a salary of just a $1 per year at Apple. Yet his compensation was worth tens of millions of dollars per year because it included stock options, benefits, and perks. Likewise, public employees often complain that they "get paid less" than those in private companies because their "salaries" are less. However, the public employees often have generous benefits and retirement plans they never count in their "compensation."

My health benefits are slightly better, but for retirement GS would match him up to 4% while the university automatically gives me 14.3% regardless of what I choose to contribute. Total compensation is often overlooked
