That point from Ant to Finch at 1:54. Ant knows his coach knows what he's doing. Seems like last night was the first game all year that they all decided to follow the gameplan from start to finish. It's starting to click. I hope they keep it rolling.
Bless you and the content you create! When the Wolves need thoughtful criticism you provide it, but you keep it "journalistic".. I am a smart guy who is a lifetime hoops fan, and I have genuinely learned things about the game from you!
Also worth noting Jadens minutes have declined the last 2 games while NAW has increased. He may not have the physical length but plays physical defense, provides hustle and energy, and can score as a compliment next to Ant, Donte and Conley. I would argue NAW is a better fit next to our best players than Jaden unfortunately.
Especially in some matchups: on what PLANET is Jaden a better defender on a guy like De'Aaron Fox but there he was at the end of the Kings game, when NAW was having a better shooting night to boot
@MatthewSchilken yep. Look many teams don't always close games with their starting lines up, but Finch seems hellbent on closing every game with his starters. Sometimes you have to recognize game flow and matchups, and more often than NAW should be closing games bc of the spacing he can provide offensively. 2 non shooters (Jaden and Rudy) in close games has caused us to lose a lot of them. In games where we may have a bit of a lead and need to weather off a run from the opposing team, Jaden may make sense there depending on game flow.
Good stuff. Amazing what can happen when you run an offense with picks everywhere, back picks, double screen and fake picks. They could use a lesson on how to come around the screens and how to set a proper screen but it's a start. They need to come around those screens tight and with some energy.
Beautiful video. Notice Donte actually running the point in most of these clips🤔 and not being just a spot up shooter. Almost like he’s a borderline all star talent
i think everyone and their mom has been begging for the timberwolves to run more set plays. My concern is Finch actually employing this with any consistency. it seems like everyone sees the problem with their offense but him
I don't think it will take a whole season for this team to gel and figure things out. Randle is only a temp piece too so if he is not conforming then they can move his expiring contract
Dane was big on the need for more structure last year. He asked Chris Finch about it and Finch basically said if he prescribes “run this play” (structure), if it doesn’t work, which often it doesn’t… then what? I think what we saw last night was moreso players buying into the principles of flow such that it gave them tools to use. I feel like it’s easy to say, “we need more structure” from our view. Flow doesn’t equal “no plan”
It's about time. I don't know why Finch waited this long to get more structured? He has new guys and new roles and they aren't together long enough to go free lance. This team has the talent to get the top six playoff slots.
It feels like the wolves only spent so much effort and focus on the defense over the last 4 years and for offense just played pick up games at practice, no plays... if wolves out the same kind of focus that they put into defense, the offense could be spectacular. Ant could average 30 ppg
Poor offensive execution was the reason why they lost to Dallas in last seasons western conference finals. If their offense executed smarter plays, Minnesota would’ve beat Boston in the Finals and then Karl Towns would still be on the Timberwolves roster
We can still do this with Naz instead of Randle. Sick of seeing Randle, Ant, and Gobert share court at same exact time. It doesn't work. Would like to see Randle iso ball from bench
Your channel is ridiculously underrated!! This is some of the best Twolves and NBA analysis out there!
truth 2 pow
Totally agree.🏀
Yeah it is even too good. Gives some secrets to opponents scouts 🤫

When I hear "The Minnesota Timberwolves" at the beginning, I know I'm in for a banger 🔥🔥

we gotta smart guy over here
Haven’t met a ton of smart guys who would refer to themselves as a smart guy 😂
Have you considered covering any other teams? Your analysis is always so insightful!
Me: Down Screens please!
Finch: Fine, I'll do it.
Me: Thank you.
This is what they’ve been needing for years!!!

This was a wonderful game 🎉🎉

He had to make a change otherwise he is out of a job
Literally waited all night to watch this video
Love the channel!
Thanks for the breakdown

Finally someone gets it. This was always going to be a transition year.
Reminds me of the first game in preseason last year in Abu Dhabi. A lot more intentional with every possession
Very informative 👋
Every time I watch your videos I think, "Man I hope Finch watches these"

Playing the rookies would be nice they are always a big spark. (I realize rob was hurt last night)
Word!

I agree with your sentiment, but to us it's "long enough" but to a veteran coach it's less than a quarter of a season when key personnel changed.
It feels like the wolves only spent so much effort and focus on the defense over the last 4 years and for offense just played pick up games at practice, no plays... if wolves out the same kind of focus that they put into defense, the offense could be spectacular. Ant could average 30 ppg
Agreed agreed.
Agreed! Enough of only 3s and iso…
that wasn't what they were trying to do at all
Word.
The team looked faster. The ball moved with purpose!
Wolves are back
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Surprisingly, our offensive rating is plummeting. The lakers are a terrible defensive team, I wouldn’t get too optimistic over this game
Just minimize to run the offense from Julius, and Twolves will be okay
Poor offensive execution was the reason why they lost to Dallas in last seasons western conference finals. If their offense executed smarter plays, Minnesota would’ve beat Boston in the Finals and then Karl Towns would still be on the Timberwolves roster
"Just do whatever" finch's game plan. They just got lucky this game lakers had back to back. 😅
Also lebron wasn't playing well so wolves got lucky imo
Play Naz more and Julius less. You'll win more games
Now imagine we did this with a 7 foot 50/40/90 player
Yep too late TC made a stupid trade. And the owners got cheap.
