    Hi guys. I have my Honda Zoomer X in Thailand, it’s the same as Ruckus, but it is 110cc. The reason I like this bike is 1. Design 2. Low height convenient for women
    Here in Thailand the seat is for 2 persons. And the display is electronic. But the Ruckus’s retro style display I like better. It’s timeless in my opinion ))

    Had my Ruck since 2017 when I bought it new…and got a $200 discount for paying cash! My mods are simplistic….round wire rock grates for front lights, set of cheap white plastic saddlebags mounted to the add on rear rack. Found a French fry basket at a yard sale, cut it to fit for open storage under the seat. Gel pad added to seat. Mine is red and white and it is more fun than my 1800 Goldwing and a lot easier to hold up! Gave my GW to a charity to benefit a local childrens hospital. Got right at 6,000 miles on it now and it is still a lot of fun to ride!

    Keep it as is, carb with non-ethanol gas is great, liquid cooked wjth a kick start is awesome . Fuel injection would be Ok IF and only IF yiu keep the Kickstarter. Add a USB port with a waterproof cover. Lastly, a heavy duty ruckus cargo rack for the tail !

    I love the Ruckus, but I have to say that continuing to increase the price without adding any updates cant be good for sales. If Honda did the 110 from the navi with a small price bump, id totally be in. Thanks Kevin!

    • @HondaProKevin
      @HondaProKevin  2 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      100%! I think we all understand that prices are going to continue to go up, we can't argue with that (sadly) but, seeing some updates here and there definitely make it an easier pill to swallow so-to-say.
      It'd be interesting to see what the numbers would look like if they were to move production outside of Japan as this is one of the last "cheaper" models to still roll off the production lines there. Being within a few hundred bucks of the Grom and $1,000 more than the NAVi makes it a tough call for a lot of people, no matter how much they love the styling of the Ruckus over everything else.
      No no no, thank you! Appreciate the support man ;)

    I have definitely gotten my money's worth out of my 2007 Ruckus and I have not treated it very kindly. The state of South Carolina has upgraded it from a moped to a motorcycle because of that beastly 4.5 hp, so if I have to have a license, insurance, tag and pay taxes, I might as well get something bigger. Hoping Honda has a decent supply of ADV160's next year. The low weight still makes it easy to carry for a camping trip.

    • @HondaProKevin
      @HondaProKevin  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Heck yeah, gotta love that about most Hondas!
      Oh really? That's a shame. Hopefully more and more states don't start following suit on that but then again, that means more money in their pocket so yeah, probably going to start seeing more and more of it. Things will be slightly better next year but there are still going to be shortages with Honda for quite some time now. A lot of people didn't believe me back in 2020 when inventory levels started to get bad that it still wouldn't be better by 2022 and here we are lol - it's still nowhere near "normal". Dealers are struggling big time though, they need some normalcy soon as it's kinda hard to make money when you have nothing to sell and are having to almost rely entirely on used unit sales etc to keep the doors open which then just drives up used prices etc. It's all a mess, we need pre-rona times back with the quickness lol!

      The only scooters that have the options of the bigger 150cc gy6 motors are the clones like the maddog. It offers both a 50cc and a 150cc gy6 motor and it's already stretched. It has the lowered position handle bars. The same style seat but it's lower. The lights are the same style. The taillight and signal lights are integrated into one. The wheels and tires on the gen 5 are 14 inches. The price is about the same as the Navi. It has the same power as the ruckus. Put a pod air filter, change the jets in the carburetor and change out the vacuum fuel pump for an electric fuel pump and your good.

    I just took delivery of a grey ’23 Ruckus. Japanese quality scooters are something we may not see for much longer at any price. The build is what you’d expect from a made-in-Japan Honda.
    I’m having what I’d describe as a slight surging or stumbling at mid-throttle which can be ridden right through, but I’m hoping this will clear up with break-in. I’ve only got about 30 miles so far and I am using ethanol-free fuel. it’s not severe, just annoying. It’s subtle enough that some riders may not even notice. Anyone else experience anything like this?
    Edit: the slight stumbling behavior completely disappeared with the onset of cooler weather.

    I had one with fuel injection and it's a great machine. It's a one seater which I found an advantage not having to give "losers" rides. It performs rather well uphill too and the space underneath the seat makes it possible to transport long in size objects. With a box added for your helmet it still looks stylish. The sound of the motor is not annoyingly loud for the neighbours ears like with the Honda Dax. I switched to a car since I retired away from the city. They are a good investment if you take good care of them of course. Do not try to enhance their performance because they are perfectly tuned to be cheap to run and last.

I have added an underseat bag, tunnel bag over the headlights & a real rear carrier plus riding pegs which increase handling. Mine has a max speed of 51mph on flat road no wind. Made a number of small changes all of which are beneficial. things like RPM gauge, Polini variator, CDI & ignition module, clutch plus at 225lbs, I use 4.5gram Dr. Pulley sliders plus an NCY variator face plate & an E3.38 spark plug not forgetting Michelin street tires. Another item is NEVER run Ethanol gas if you want performance.

    Thanks for the overview buddie. I'm on the market for a mini moto and this was helpful. I agree that this scooter could really benefit from a larger engine, at least a 110. The carb doesn't bother me, I'm used to tinkering and up keeping older bikes. I think this is a tad overpriced for what is offered and it seems redundant when the Navi exists. Those are just my thoughts. I think it would benefit folks to spend a little more to get a lot more.

      Oh yeah, it's lack of speed definitely hinders its overall functionality for a lot of people that would otherwise like to snatch one up. Struggling to stay at a steady 35-40 mph isn't something many want to deal with on the roads these days, especially with how many lunatics we've got out there that don't care about the safety of us out there on 2-wheels.

    So many ideas but none of them would make the price lower, except maybe build it in Cambodia or somewhere labor is cheap. They could bring in the Metro's fuel injection and maybe keep it compliant a little longer and maybe a fuel economy boost? I don't know what Metro milage is like. Sadly I think it's days are numbered as only enthusiasts will buy them. Have you seen how many bikes were chopped for this year already? The market is making big changes.

    • @HondaProKevin
      @HondaProKevin  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh yeah, the only way pricing is going to drop is if they move production outside of Japan as it's one of the last "cheaper" models to still come out of there. American Honda doesn't advertise an MPG rating for the latest Metropolitan but other corners of the world rate it at 80 km/l which comes out to about 188 MPG which is definitely a massive bump over the 114 MPG that American Honda advertises for the Ruckus.
      It's definitely going to be interesting to see what Honda decides to do with it over the next few years as like you said, there have been more and more getting the axe. I'd love to know how many American Honda actually sells as back in the day, Honda of Japan stated that their global annual sales were around the 3,500 unit mark. That was when they were being sold in more countries than they are now though. When will the slower sales make a difference to where it's not worth it to roll down the production line anymore? It's not a big draw these days but they still sell and if it's not costing them money to produce a few each year and they don't see the investment needed to update it as being "worth it", maybe they'll just keep it around in its current state as a filler model - kinda like the XR650L that's an even slower seller from my experience and just like the Ruckus, hasn't really been touched in decades.
      Definitely interesting times ahead...

      @@HondaProKevin i understand the xr650 not being updated. It would probably take decades to make back what it would cost them to make it compliant and carry all the tech goodies people expect. The market is just too small. I actually expect it to be cancelled within a year or 2 of a Transalp release, if that ever happens. There's only so many ways to slice the offroad pie.
      Scooters I think still has a chance to grow if they can include the tech people want, make them usable for the average commute, emissions and safety compliant, get manufacturing costs under control, and come up with a marketing plan to make stubborn Americans want them. Now that I write it out there's quite a few obstacles to overcome. Good luck Honda.
