I loved this video! It really filled me with excitement to not only see my work here and what you said about me as an artist, but also to see the progress we as a community have made together. It's been a wonderful year, definitely the course has been the best decision I've made for my career and I'm so grateful that you decided to share your knowledge with us. I'm looking forward to see what the finished projects will look like!✨
Congrats for an amazing year Paola, and keep up the excellent work! It's been a pleasure to watch you grow and be such an important part of this small community!
You are amazing, such an inspiration! Being a great artist is a commitment, it takes time and a lot of confidence in one self. I have been rushing too much and its time to take a step back and really take my time to develop my skills. Thank you
Thatis a very good point. A lot of people want to get hired at Blizzard/Riot tomorrow. But it takes years and years to develop the skills and experience needed to become an attractive employee for these companies. No matter how naturally talented the person is, it takes time to simmer and absorb experience :)
That is amazing! Loved to see the work. Everyone worked so intensely. Incredibly inspiring and thanks so much for everything you did for the community to help everyone! I felt so lucky to have been able to be there and apart of it. This is truly the best environment course hands down out there! Worth it's weight in gold for anyone truly serious about environments.
Thank you so much for such warm words Sandra, it’s a pleasure to have you in the community (one of the very first ones, I think you got it in the first pre sale, limited to 10 people only haha). It’s been awesome to see your fast evolution, your last environment looks sick. I’m looking forward to seeing you building another one! Keep up the hard work, the results are truly staggering if you compare.
No specific requirements, if you can run the programs you are good to go (Unreal Editor, a modeling program such as maya or blender, and texturing programs such as substance)
Thanks for the video, Thiago. Being a part of the Environment Art Mastery group has been an awesome journey, thank you for all the time and dedication you put into helping us all grow as artists!
Awesome video! Thank you for featuring us, and also means a lot to see my work there. I've had an amazing journey so far within this course and learned so much in such a small amount of time, I'm so glad to be here within this awesome community, seeing everyone progress together one step at a time, in one way or another, super inspiring for a self-teaching artist! Happy anniversary!
I've been eyeing this course ever since I stumbled upon your Zest Foundation modular environment breakdown a couple months ago while working on my first environment for my game art diploma. After graduating, I still feel super lacking and what you said about process and five qualities reminded me of the passion I had when I first started 3D a year ago. :'D This video convinced me to start the course (after I sort out cross-country moving) and get back to work.
This is a really good course. Thiago goes over a lot of methodology that a lot of tutorials and school courses never cover. imagine getting in debt and not get taught what he covers.
Thanks so much for releasing this video. I'm also finding that I need to learn some concept design to take my environment to where I want it to be. Even if I can't access the discord, it's great to hear updates about everyone's work. It inspires me to keep working hard alongside everyone! Thank you!
The course looks quite fun! :D I do have some questions before enrolling though: Is it possible to follow the course using a different Engine like Unity? Also is foliage creation covered?
Hey! I use Unreal engine in the course, but I also use Unity on personal projects. I’d say 95% of the information carries over. What differs on Unity is how Unity handles asset import, while in Unreal they get imported as static mesh actors, in Unity they are generic prefabs and you need to do a bit of prep work to iterate quickly. All in all, in regards to the tools I use in the tutorial, the only major part that comes to mind is the asset import pipeline, the rest is very similar on both engines. I don’t cover foliage in the tutorial. Most of the foliage came from a pack by Nastya Ermakova. Cheers!
My main struggle is, after I'm done with the blockout I am never quite sure if I will be able to make it look good by going through the rest of the process :D As a blockout it looks very uninteresting because it's supposed to be simple, even though I KNOW that it gets better as I progress, I still lose some motivation to push through...
Yep, that's a common struggle :) It's all about mindset. Keep on pushing and believing it will work out, and one day things magically fall into place. It's like the universe rewards you for the hard work and belief. At least that's been my experience :)
Hey Thiago! I’m learning so much from your course so far. I had a question and not sure where to ask so I’ll try here. Do I need a certain version of Unreal to import your TK Tools? When I try to copy to the content folder they aren’t there upon opening and if I drag and drop I get a “failed to import uasset” I’m using 5.2. Do I need to go down a couple versions? Thanks again!
Hello sorry i thought I had already left this comment but maybe i forgot to press enter and actually send it. Been loving the course! I got to the lighting part of the course and u mention the GDC video called (Lighting Mirror's Edge: Catalyst) I cant seem to find that anywhere on youtube even when i go to the gdc channel. Anychance you have the link to that video? maybe its not available on the canadian YT?
Hey! The video is still available, but for some reason unlisted. You can watch it here. One of the best presentations on the subject for sure: www.ea.com/frostbite/news/lighting-the-city-of-glass
Is there need to use bake light in Unreal Engine 5 ? Cause now a days lumen is available there. And is there need to bake light in UE5 if there are too much foliage in map ? I am new in unreal engine.
Baked lighting performs much much better than lumen. For example, if you have a top PC, with lumen in 4k you will be hard pressed to reach 100 frames or so. But with baked lighting you could easily hit 400 (not that you need, but just showing the point). Baked lighting is the way to go for realistic VR experiences, mobile, some consoles etc... But for personal projects that won't be released as a game, it doesn't matter :)
I never had a sale for this tutorial for two reasons: 1) In order for it to be sustainable in the long term since I'm putting in so much work 2) To not punish people who buy at full price. This creates unnecessary anxiety in people. But since this is a very special occasion and inflation has been running rampant all over the world, I will open an exceptional exception: Any member on record on my Gumroad (anyone who downloaded or purchased a tutorial before and still doesn't own the Environment Art Mastery) will receive a time-limited coupon to help with the purchase. I will send it in a few hours. This will be the only time I do this.
This course looks amazing, Thiago! Congrats on the 1 year!! 🙌🙌 I have a question about the different editions. Does the Standard edition include all 23 chapters? Or is it only in the Advanced edition?
Hello! The biggest difference is that Advanced version includes a lot more videos covering different aspects of the Spanish Town, these are mostly texturing and asset creation videos. It also includes the Stylized Texturing tutorial. The standard contains the full course minus the asset creation tutorials.
hey not sure if you mention this later in the course or not, if you do then just ignore this and ill wait till then, but if not then do you by chance have a link to the trees pack you used in this environment? would love to purchase the same one or one from the same person in the style I need. If not I'm sure I can find a good looking pack, just thought why not ask. Also no rush im only on chapter 9 so it will be awhile before I need to purchase one.
It’s looks like a great course, but I wish the discord community access was not behind a $575 paywall to get feedback from the community (even if not by Thiago himself), share your progress, and connect with people.
I totally understand. The Discord communtiy needs to be kept small because otherwise it's unmanageable and I simply won't be able to handle it. But I have something in mind that will bring together all the other tiers and cover what you are suggesting - a forum :) That's something that's been on my mind for quite a while and I will start looking into options in the coming weeks. I like Discord but things get lost easily... in a forum the information can be categorized better, it's easier for people to keep a journal etc...
The greatest course about environment EVER

did u get a job in the industry by chance?
Right then - this has given me a kick up the backside 😀- enough procrastinating. I'll start this course this week and see it all the way through.
Hell yeah! It's time to kick ass my dude :) Best luck!
♥You put so much love into this video with all the channel members and works! Love it!
Thanks for the warm words Sonja, it's a pleasure to have you on the group! I'm looking very much forward to seeing your next works! :)

Try to copy the TK_tools folder into the project content folder in explorer, instead of drag and dropping in Unreal (that won’t work indeed) cheers!

Hello, Thiago!
will there be an anniversary sale

Its the forest pack by Nastya Ermakova on the unreal marketplace :) anything by her is golden!
