His drumming is the main reason why their songs are epic journeys rather than boring and repetitious. Very few drummers in any genre can create a "landscape" for the song to travel on the way he does.
Best band in the newest wave of BM, imho. Completely awesome and breathtaking. Darkside makes a superb work in his kit, his dexterity with the cymbals is quite unique. The band's lyrics are also a peculiar and marvelous point, mixing a mature nihilism with some metaphoric narrative "backgrounded" with Greek (and other) Mythology(ies). The cymbals are what gives Mgla it's really... *icy* tone. The constant high pitch of them gives it such a cold, wintery, frosty texture. It kind of... adds the White to the Black&White of the picture.

The intricate cymbal patterns are crazy. I love the patterns on the bell of the ride cymbal within the overall ride patterns. It comes out really well on the album also. This is my favorite Mgla song. Glad this showed up my YT feed. Thanks for posting it.
His drumming reminds me of Carl-Michael Eide's playing on Written in Waters by Ved Buens Ende. That is some of my favourite metal drumming of all time, so that is a big compliment. This guy really arranges his playing and emphasizes the other instruments. A great drummer and a great musician!
