I discovered the Tang Soo Do with few videos of various katas and was very doubtful about this art, but this video shows much more how effective this art can be.

11:22 I can tell you from personal experience that this technique works. An abusive female family member with issues tried to stab me with the exact same middle thrust as in this segment, and I had been practicing that same wrist lock for several years, and it worked just like it did in class. The hardest part was having enough control not to break her wrist, that was actually more difficult than the actual technique.
Coming from the Okinawan arts and holding a Sam Dan rank in Tang Soo Do, there are a great many aspects of this art that are enjoyable. Highly effective too.
Those forms performed by the man in black uniform is sharp with snapping powerful kicks good form, looks more graceful than SHOTOKAN Way of performing them. Awesome.
Understanding the history of Tang Soo Do, one will understand the majority of the art came from the Japanese occupation, and those who were fortunate not to be in a slave camp after Korea was annexed by Japan. Funakoshi Gichin, who's considered by many to be the ‘father’ of Japanese karate-dō', moved to Japan from Okinawa in 1922. Shōtōkan (松濤館 ‘house of Shōtō’) is the name of Funakoshi Gichin’s gymnasium, which passed on the name to his art. The smoothness of the instructor heavily relies on the Chinese influence in Korean martial arts. Tang Soo Do means "the way of the China hand".
It's over thirty years I have-not done any type of training due to my illnesses. Looking on my training is due at least to get back in shape. It should help me .
@@B_men_apo Shortly after Korea’s liberation from Japanese colonial rule in 1945, except for judō and kendō, no other martial art existed on the peninsula. Chŏn Sang-sŏp, who had trained empty hand in Japan during the occupation, returned to Korea and formed kwŏnbŏp in 1951. It relied heavily on karate from Funakoshi and Judo. Hwang Kee, founder of tangsudo, is also believed to have studied judo. Watch the hyungs closely, such as Pyung Ahn Sam Dan, on the video, You'll see throws in the forms.
You'll love my thesis paper I am writing for my Sah Dan rank. Tae Kwon Do freely delves more into sport competition than the actual art as a result of the post Korean War atmosphere existing in South Korea, circa 1955.
They don’t learn much other than the choreography itself; its not a real style they I believe. However, watch Sensei Seth he goes over how they fight and how to fight like them (what moves they use the most, blocks, etc.)
Okay, Green Bay run defense sucks. That doesn't mean that it would be wise to go run, run, incomplete pass punt throughout the whole game. Because ANY defense can stop the run if they can see it coming. The Cowboys need to keep mixing it up and pass on first downs a few times. Meaning, the Cowboys need to pass to run, NOT run to pass.

Shuri Te was not watered. It was adopted to conditions in Shuri castle. Narrow corridors etc. So this is why Shorin Ryu has high stances rather than Kung Fu low and broad. Shorin Ryu means small Forrest and Kata such like Naihanchi, chinte, Hakkaku- white crane, Pinan or Kushanku are Chinese kata adopted to those standards.
