    I love Tang Soo Do. I waited till I was 49 years old. I made a great decision. Since I was a young man I wanted to get into martial arts. I know it's late in my life but I'm truly enjoying the journey. And my overall health and mental state has improved. I've lost 25 pounds. And my flexibility is so good now. Tang Soo. 👍👍👍

    Chuck Norris trained under grandmaster Jae Chul Shin (who passed some years ago) who was the founder of the World Tang Soo Do Association,during the war. He started his american fighting arts federation after that. Chuck Norris is a huge reason i ever started tang soo do as a kid, did it for 7 years, and picked it up again 22 years later. It's my favorite art, after having tried a few! I love your reasons, TANG SOO!

    I love Tang So Do, it was the first martial art I studied 49 years ago... Since then I have studied a lot of different arts, but always kept my Tang So Do for my base art and added other influences... I teach American Iron Fist Ninjuka Tang So Do as it is called and still love what I teach from the versatility of the combined arts with my Tang So Do...

    I. Come from Chi town and in gang infested areas. And learned the was of the Street,( environmental awareness ) and I teach Kenpo for 27 years . I have learned Concepts ,and principles. for every action there's a reaction learning how to see things before it happens. It taught me honor and respect . A s build relationships, help those to build them up and teach them it takes one to save one. That reality is important there's always the what if everybody's different shape ,speed, size ,strength, learning to adapt and evolve and how to use alphabet of motion and putting it into vocabulary of motion it's kind of like Writing Your Own Story as someone is attacking you and putting it in your own words . Love your way of thinking my brother. After this is all over with this virus issue. Would love to train with you . Be safe brother God bless

    I’m currently training in Tang Soo Do and have been for a couple years. I’m currently a Chodan Bo which is the furthest I’ve gotten in any art. I like it better than tae kwon do and Kung fu as I felt that there was a lack of practicality where are I found that in TSD. We too have a duality to our training. Great video, Tang Soo!

    I really enjoyed this video. I must admit I didn't know what Tang Soo Do was until 2001 (I started martial art training in 1995 , stopped in 2002 and got back into training 2 years ago). Dispite being aware of it I focused more of my attention on learning more of the differences of Japanese arts. You and your dad have taught me much about Tang Soo Do from this channel.

    I did Shotokan from 1985-87, was so broke I couldn't afford the grading fee (was a student).
    Now I'm 55 and I started in TKD,and like it, but I'm thinking of switching to TSD.
    This is a fantastic channel,there's a very open and healthy attitude towards other arts!

    I attended 1 of 5 original schools owned by Chuck Norris in the old part of Torrance, CA. Circa 1966? I broke my left foot in 3 places kicking him in the shin while testing. He didn’t even blink! 😅 i recall he really enjoyed dining at a little hole in the wall Mexican restaurant just across the street from the studio. Then he would enter, jump upside down and contact the ceiling with both feet before flipping right side up and landing calmly 😊

    I like Shotokan katas better it seems more snapping and strength. I know you have tried them. However I don't see the same in your style that's why I like how I was taught my katas. That being said the fluid motion in your style is there for a reason. I like your ideas on how to pressure test. Train in the real I try and do this as well. Only in Shotokan. I respect you and your style either way. Great video.

    What do you think about orthodox tang soo do?
    Basically, Tang Soo Do taught directly/2nd generation from Korea (ex. My master being student of Master Leak and (now Grandmaster) Khalid). Then you have the amazing Chuck Norris and others of American TSD. American Tang Soo Do is well rounded, but orthodox tang soo do has its pluses as well. What is your take on this?

    • @SenseiIchi
      @SenseiIchi  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I've seen Traditional Korean Tang Soo Do and It reminds me a lot of Japanese Karate, I can definitely see the influence. I prefer our American Tang Soo Do only because of the relaxed, smooth, Chinese flow it has to it. Tang Soo Do is very strong, solid and the basics are terrific though.

    The hands and feet are interchangeable for each Kata or form. I don’t go by convention I can create forms out of nothing. Forms are based on calligraphy, TKD forms are based on the four trigram on the Korean flag, a modern example of the concept. A more ancient example would be the Tiger crane form of Hung Gar which uses the I shape or Hung symbol. Yes there is symbolism to what you walk in a kata. 7 star stepping, circle waking , the pigeon toes of Ba in bagua, Irimi and tenkan. The taichi circle being the best example of this.
    I went from JKA to Shotokai soft power and Egami before internal proper so I it had little in common with Shotokan or even the Korean methodology. There is no such thing as styles in my view.

      That’s a really good question. It’s tough because it’s right there in the middle. Tang Soo Do has a lot of the same kids and blocks that taekwondo has and they’re both Korean.
