I agree. I'd rather see someone try to speak the language they're learning than someone who can speak a set number of languages flawlessly. To me that doesn't feel as genuine.
Yeah she doesn’t pretend like she fluent in Hungarian, she admits that she still needs to learn a lot, also btw a lot of these “polyglot” you tubers are fake, I speak Chinese (well kinda) and I see them making a ton of pronunciation mistakes and grammar mistakes, I like Lindie cuz she keeps it real, and for someone who’s just been learning Hungarian for a couple of months she speaks incredibly well

The average language learner: "Wow, this is difficult" *stops speaking because it's "too hard"* Learners like Lindie: "Wow, this is difficult" *keeps speaking for 10+ more minutes despite it being difficult* Great video as always. I know literally no Hungarian but you seemed to get most of your thoughts across pretty fluently, even if they were relatively simple and you occasionally had to search for words. Keep it up :) 화이팅~
hi lindie, im a native hungarian speaker and your accent is amazing!! really really good job, it's awesome to see people apart from us speaking this language; it's very rare! one funny thing: i'm also learning korean, and i was showing this video to my (hungarian) mum and she made me pause after you said "csinálni" and was like "does this girl speak korean too?" and i was like "yeah... how did you know?" and she said "because she pronounces her 'cs' the same way you do sometimes" i've been listening to so much korean that i often end up pronouncing our 'cs' and even the english 'ch' closer to the korean ㅊ sound by accident and my parents always joke about it, so i thought it was funny that you did the same thing! but don't worry, no one would ever notice. i didn't (probably because i'm guilty of the same thing;;)

For me hungarian language is not ugly at all, I really love the sound of this language, it's very interesting and unique! By listening to some hungarians songs I fall in love with this language, so I started learning it too 🥰
That is funny becouse Hungarians really like to thing that their language is unique😀 I ve never heard anybody calling this language ugly Although in countries where hungarians belong to the minority it is trendy to hate them (Romania:P) Easy to imagine that they say funny things like this
It's not ugly at all. Hungarian is interessant indeed, I just didn't give it a shot yet because we have a hard time learning another stuff just to live, work and everything. But once I have some free time to invest on it, I'll do it certainly.

It is so awesome seeing a language that doesn’t usually get much love, being shown getting learn from scratch. Every linguist TH-camr seems to be studying the same languages (Japanese, Spanish, Mandarin, etc). So seeing TH-camrs that are learning languages like Hungarian, Irish, Norwegian, Finnish, Slovene, Cantonese, Scottish Gaelic, Tagalog, Swedish, etc definitely stand out from the thousands of TH-cam polyglots. A hangkészlet nagyon nehéz az idegennek. Én egy olasz családtaggal hónapokig gyakoroltattam az a-á, e-é párosokat, és kereken "a"-t mondani, mert mindig "á"-ra sikerült..
@@sandor7594 A szájat kell előre jól beállítani és akkor már nehéz - ha nem lehetetlen - elrontani a kiejtést. Egy kört kell formálni az ajkakkal az "a" ejtéséhez és akkor már nyugodtan próbálhat "á"-t ejteni, úgyis "a" lesz belőle, ha kört formál az ajkaival. :-)

Congratulations on your progress, it is so good to hear you speaking Hungarian. Your pronunciation is confusing in a good way. Because I can hear that you're a beginner but some words or sentences sound like they were said by a native. I don't know if your tutor or teacher emphasized this but in Hungarian the stress is ALWAYS on the first syllable of the word (and the first word of the sentence). You did this quite well, but not always (which is understandable, you're a beginner) but I don't hear people talking about this enough and I think it can drastically improve your pronunciation if you concentrate on this a little bit more.

Your pronunciation is very on point. Sometimes you mess up a few vowels here and there but the words spoken are very much recognisable Keep on learning. I believe in you✨🌟
I think people with a genuine interest in other cultures (and having a large vocabulary in their native language) are more driven and wired to learn and speak other languages well. Ever since I was a young boy, I wanted to see the world. Having the "gypsy" bug in you helps you to move around. As a native Hungarian, I'm happy I managed to pick up a few languages along my journey. Your Hungarian is very good, the grammar is definitely challenging. keep up the good work!
its so nice to see u enjoying hungarian! i live in slovakia, northern from hungary, and we got a lot of hungarian folk living at the border. and people in slovakia in general dont find hungarian pretty (this partially stems from hundreds of years of history and something of bad blood) my grandma spoke hungarian and my dad speaks hungariam as well. unfortunately, me or my brother dont. which, now years later, i regret not learning hungarian as a kid from grandma as she wished. anyway. just wanted to say its real nice seeing u finding it beautiful ♡♡♡

I'm learning Hungarian too! It was my "lockdown project", I liked it and I'm carrying on with it. All textbooks I stepped upon were very pricey so I jumped onto FSI lessons.

This is commendable!!! I am a HUngarian native speaker and your Hungarian is 100% understandable and even though you make mistakes, I can totally understand every single sentence of yours! Pronunciation is also very much okay, and for the hours you've put into the language, you are making incredible progress! I couldn't possibly learn it with just 4 hrs a week I think, if it wasn't my native language. Hungarian is tricky to be usre, but not impossible to learn. Heey. I'm extremely happy to see this video, and your hungarian is really really amazing. (I'm a Hungaran, so trust me). It is even hard for us, natives sometimes, so it is incredibly how you use the language. Nagyon ügyes vagy, alig várom a többi magyar videódat. My cousine from Venezuela could learn Hungarian in 1.5 years. He is very fluent now almost speaks like a native (he lives here for 2 years now) . Since Hungarian is a very irregular its very hard to study from abroad. I am very proud of u. U speak very very well!! Keep up the good work!
Elképesztő, hogy mennyire tehetséges vagy. Az az érzésem, ahogy hallgatlak, hogy tökéletesen megállnád a helyed egy magyar környezetben, pedig az elmondásod alapján nagyon kevés ideje tanulod.
Ha egy nyelvet 2-3 meg több ideje aktívan tanulsz, akkor nagyon szépen meg lehet tanulni (és persze, ha nem vagy olyan kis lusta, mint amilyen én voltam, és rendesen tanulsz. Most jelenleg 2 nyelvvel szenvedek, és abból az egyik az angol😅)
What a fantastic video! You really show all of your amazingly fast progress without hiding your struggles to find words and phrases. It's great to hear someone struggling but persevering with a language. That's how I like to go about learning languages and it's really nice to see you thing about it in the same way (only with much faster progress. 😄 )
i absolutely love the hungarian language, i'm sad to this day that my dad didn't teach it to me (he's from south slovakia but his entire family knew hungarian as well)... maybe some day in the future i will take on the challenge hehe :)
it is really sad because knowing a language is a gift, and it is very easy for a child to learn it if the parents talk to them from and early age. It is much harder to learn it as an adult. But if you decide to take the challenge later, then I wish you good luck.
I think one of the most impressive things about your Hungarian is your slang-like usage of interjections. It sounds totally like how a native Hungarian speaker would be thinking out loud to problem solve something or think of something.

My dad is Hungarian and he speaks with me in Hungarian, but l'm still making a lot of mistakes and l don't know a lot of words. And don't really making something with that. Hungarian is such a complicated language and you are making big progress. Don't give up, l know you can do it!

one funny thing: i'm also learning korean, and i was showing this video to my (hungarian) mum and she made me pause after you said "csinálni" and was like "does this girl speak korean too?" and i was like "yeah... how did you know?" and she said "because she pronounces her 'cs' the same way you do sometimes"
i've been listening to so much korean that i often end up pronouncing our 'cs' and even the english 'ch' closer to the korean ㅊ sound by accident and my parents always joke about it, so i thought it was funny that you did the same thing! but don't worry, no one would ever notice. i didn't (probably because i'm guilty of the same thing;;)

There's no such thing as an ugly language.
For me hungarian language is not ugly at all, I really love the sound of this language, it's very interesting and unique! By listening to some hungarians songs I fall in love with this language, so I started learning it too 🥰

It's not ugly at all. Hungarian is interessant indeed, I just didn't give it a shot yet because we have a hard time learning another stuff just to live, work and everything. But once I have some free time to invest on it, I'll do it certainly.

It is so awesome seeing a language that doesn’t usually get much love, being shown getting learn from scratch.
Every linguist TH-camr seems to be studying the same languages (Japanese, Spanish, Mandarin, etc).
So seeing TH-camrs that are learning languages like Hungarian, Irish, Norwegian, Finnish, Slovene, Cantonese, Scottish Gaelic, Tagalog, Swedish, etc definitely stand out from the thousands of TH-cam polyglots.

A hangkészlet nagyon nehéz az idegennek. Én egy olasz családtaggal hónapokig gyakoroltattam az a-á, e-é párosokat, és kereken "a"-t mondani, mert mindig "á"-ra sikerült..
@@sandor7594 A szájat kell előre jól beállítani és akkor már nehéz - ha nem lehetetlen - elrontani a kiejtést. Egy kört kell formálni az ajkakkal az "a" ejtéséhez és akkor már nyugodtan próbálhat "á"-t ejteni, úgyis "a" lesz belőle, ha kört formál az ajkaival. :-)
Ennél jobb kiejtést még nem hallottam egy magyarul tanulótól! Nagyon természetesen hangzik, jól csinálod👍

Your pronunciation is confusing in a good way. Because I can hear that you're a beginner but some words or sentences sound like they were said by a native.
I don't know if your tutor or teacher emphasized this but in Hungarian the stress is ALWAYS on the first syllable of the word (and the first word of the sentence). You did this quite well, but not always (which is understandable, you're a beginner) but I don't hear people talking about this enough and I think it can drastically improve your pronunciation if you concentrate on this a little bit more.
This is really helpful to keep in mind, thank you so much!

I think people with a genuine interest in other cultures (and having a large vocabulary in their native language) are more driven and wired to learn and speak other languages well. Ever since I was a young boy, I wanted to see the world. Having the "gypsy" bug in you helps you to move around. As a native Hungarian, I'm happy I managed to pick up a few languages along my journey. Your Hungarian is very good, the grammar is definitely challenging. keep up the good work!
its so nice to see u enjoying hungarian! i live in slovakia, northern from hungary, and we got a lot of hungarian folk living at the border. and people in slovakia in general dont find hungarian pretty (this partially stems from hundreds of years of history and something of bad blood)
my grandma spoke hungarian and my dad speaks hungariam as well. unfortunately, me or my brother dont.
which, now years later, i regret not learning hungarian as a kid from grandma as she wished.

Úgy örülök, hogy újra elkeztél tanulni magyarul. A karantén miatt sokat kellett otthon lennem és március óta nem tanultam japánul. Elvesztettem az összes motivációmat, hogy japánul tanuljak. I completely agree with you about learning through topics that interest you or are relevant to your own life. I am learning Italian and I teach Hungarian and I totally try to do this both as a student and as a teacher.:)
I'm learning Hungarian too! It was my "lockdown project", I liked it and I'm carrying on with it. All textbooks I stepped upon were very pricey so I jumped onto FSI lessons.

This is commendable!!! I am a HUngarian native speaker and your Hungarian is 100% understandable and even though you make mistakes, I can totally understand every single sentence of yours! Pronunciation is also very much okay, and for the hours you've put into the language, you are making incredible progress! I couldn't possibly learn it with just 4 hrs a week I think, if it wasn't my native language. Hungarian is tricky to be usre, but not impossible to learn. Heey. I'm extremely happy to see this video, and your hungarian is really really amazing. (I'm a Hungaran, so trust me). It is even hard for us, natives sometimes, so it is incredibly how you use the language. Nagyon ügyes vagy, alig várom a többi magyar videódat. Oh and listen to Bagossy Brothers Company, they are my favourite hungarian band.
My cousine from Venezuela could learn Hungarian in 1.5 years. He is very fluent now almost speaks like a native (he lives here for 2 years now) . Since Hungarian is a very irregular its very hard to study from abroad. I am very proud of u. U speak very very well!! Keep up the good work!

Elképesztő, hogy mennyire tehetséges vagy. Az az érzésem, ahogy hallgatlak, hogy tökéletesen megállnád a helyed egy magyar környezetben, pedig az elmondásod alapján nagyon kevés ideje tanulod.
Ha egy nyelvet 2-3 meg több ideje aktívan tanulsz, akkor nagyon szépen meg lehet tanulni (és persze, ha nem vagy olyan kis lusta, mint amilyen én voltam, és rendesen tanulsz. Most jelenleg 2 nyelvvel szenvedek, és abból az egyik az angol😅)
What a fantastic video! You really show all of your amazingly fast progress without hiding your struggles to find words and phrases. It's great to hear someone struggling but persevering with a language. That's how I like to go about learning languages and it's really nice to see you thing about it in the same way (only with much faster progress. 😄 )
i absolutely love the hungarian language, i'm sad to this day that my dad didn't teach it to me (he's from south slovakia but his entire family knew hungarian as well)... maybe some day in the future i will take on the challenge hehe :)

it is really sad because knowing a language is a gift, and it is very easy for a child to learn it if the parents talk to them from and early age. It is much harder to learn it as an adult. But if you decide to take the challenge later, then I wish you good luck.

I think one of the most impressive things about your Hungarian is your slang-like usage of interjections. It sounds totally like how a native Hungarian speaker would be thinking out loud to problem solve something or think of something.
