I stayed in San Fran at The Grand Hyatt Union Square. For a second I thought it was the same hotel in the video. Chain hotels all have similar handwriting. Interesting to see a standard corporate hotel for a change and the cool blue sky of sun-drenched Cali. Wish you a speedy recovery 💫.

I am always confused in regards to Intercontinental in terms of being a luxury brand... It seems like a lower end luxury type but then there are properties that are true luxury in its portfolio. Its so confusing.
I think the problem with IHG is that some companies can lease the name and operate independently as an InterContinental hotel. In other words, not all IHG hotels belong to IHG, and the company doesn't has strict policies like the Ritz-Carlton has for example. I was once interested in working for The Ritz-Carlton (Long story) and the manager interviewed me recognized my passion to hospitality so after the interview we had a lengthy conversation and he explained to me that the brand has demands on things as small as the exact position of the logo on the pens. InterContinental on the other hand offers a lot more flexibility to the different hotels.
Lux travel expert: This hotel lacks the wow factor. Me: WOW! The inside of a hotel! I haven't seen one of those in a long time! I sure miss hotels! Also, so sorry to hear you've contracted covid. Prayers for a speedy recovery. I enjoy vacationing with you each weekend.

If you go to Los Angeles.. I hope you are able to arrange a stay at the Hotel Bel-Air which in my opinion is the Best Luxury hotel in California while the Beverly Hills Hotel is probably second best. I saw this hotel from the outside a couple years ago when I was in SF for VMworld at the Moscone Center next door. I stayed at the park central on 3rd st. but this place looks nice also though the room looks a bit small.

While this was not one of my favorite, nor do I care to go, I appreciate you taking us along for the ride anyways! I agree that room was completely overpriced! I’ve stayed in much nicer rooms downtown Chicago for less than that. The window in the room was fabulous but definitely needed to be cleaned. The decor in the room just looked outdated. The pool was not impressive either but the gym was great! The terrace? Wonderful! Thanks again for sharing that! I know you do “luxury travel” but can you recommend anything in Seattle, Washington? I’d love to go see it and go hiking at Mount Rainier!
Have you ever considered going to San Miguel de Allende GTO, Mexico? Possibly staying at the Rosewood San Miguel de Allende, it's a beautiful hotel. I don't know the travel restrictions with covid 19 to Mexico from where you live however there is a lot to see, explore do and eat. I believe maybe 5 years ago one of those famous popular travel magazines rated San Miguel de Allende the best place to travel in the world and live. The standard of excellence is compared to a lot of the resorts, hotels, villas you have stayed at. San Miguel tucked away between Mexico City and Leon GTO. Both cities are about an hour and a half away from San Miguel. You will find that Mexican citizens to be some of the nicest people you will ever encounter. The climate is to die for simply wonderful. The sunsets are like no other. You get the feeling like you're in Paris France but without the big city feel. Cheers from Houston Texas! I hope you overcome covid 19..hang in there

I saw this hotel from the outside a couple years ago when I was in SF for VMworld at the Moscone Center next door. I stayed at the park central on 3rd st. but this place looks nice also though the room looks a bit small.

I agree that room was completely overpriced! I’ve stayed in much nicer rooms downtown Chicago for less than that.
The window in the room was fabulous but definitely needed to be cleaned.
The decor in the room just looked outdated.
The pool was not impressive either but the gym was great!
The terrace? Wonderful!

Have you ever considered going to San Miguel de Allende GTO, Mexico? Possibly staying at the Rosewood San Miguel de Allende, it's a beautiful hotel. I don't know the travel restrictions with covid 19 to Mexico from where you live however there is a lot to see, explore do and eat. I believe maybe 5 years ago one of those famous popular travel magazines rated San Miguel de Allende the best place to travel in the world and live. The standard of excellence is compared to a lot of the resorts, hotels, villas you have stayed at. San Miguel tucked away between Mexico City and Leon GTO. Both cities are about an hour and a half away from San Miguel. You will find that Mexican citizens to be some of the nicest people you will ever encounter. The climate is to die for simply wonderful. The sunsets are like no other. You get the feeling like you're in Paris France but without the big city feel. Cheers from Houston Texas! I hope you overcome covid 19..hang in there

I am sorry to hear of your indisposition and hope you are feeling better. As for San Francisco, it's gone down hill a bit in recent years. But the best hotel there has always been the The Palace.
P.S. I agree with your assessment of the room. It's what I would expect at a Marriot or Sheraton for half the price.
You are correct....no "wow factor" there but still a decent hotel. We hope your recovery is quick.
