    They got the sound quality of the speaker right. Everything else about it is a joke.

    That is one of the most interesting record players I’ve ever seen or heard in my life… I was actually pleasantly surprised by the sound quality of that device! Not bad at all for what it is!!!

    For me it's the retro elements - the tonearm, 'reproducer' and horn - that appeal. My living room is retro 1930s-style and this would fit my esthetic (I don't have space for a full-size original phonograph). However, the tangerine orange case spoils it. I suppose it could be sprayed a different colour or wrapped in vinyl, but it's a faff, especially as it doesn't seem to be an especially good record player. 45 bucks is well into 'novelty' territory for a record player (and as a rule I try not to buy throwaway Chinese landfill fodder from Amazon anyway, if the demand weren't there they'd stop making it) but a lot to pay for a BT speaker, even one with a proper line in jack. Think I'll pass!

    The amp / speaker combo is good for what it is. I felt like I was hearing wow and flutter on the records before you every got to the 3" record. The weight of the needle, the fast speed, and the inability to pick up the record needle without dragging it across the record would be deal breakers for me. (I doubt I'm the target audience.) I was surprised at the lack of needle / groove distortion, so that was nice.

    For the price, it's a great talking point item that could fit nicely on a shelf. Or something to play those old not in the best condition K-Tel records.

    I agree it would be better with a nice straight modern tonearm. Nice review. Thankyou.

    Mr recolology, another great review. Would you be so kind to mention Lee and Ben jones of Clevedon in the United Kingdom in one of your future vlogmas. We have been avid fans of yours for a few years. Love your shows

    Back in the late 1970's Philips made a beautiful gramophone style record player complete with morning glory horn that at first glance could be mistaken for a 1900's original and they went to the trouble of replicating the Victor/HMV style goose neck tone arm like the player you are featuring here. As far as I was able to find out, these were quality units and I'd love to find one. I think there is a market for a well made "nostalgia" record player or an all in one made with quality parts. My studio where I paint pictures has some original early 1900's gramophone and cylinder players that I listen to early 78's and cylinders with. I bought one of the full size Pyle gramophone style all in ones and I thought it would be nice to play my later electrically recorded 78s and vinyl with it and have the it blend in with the actual antiques. The full size metal horn plays sound through a speaker piped in from the rear which is nice and the overall sound is way better than the Crosley cruiser type players but hardly modern hi-fi. It seems like it's a 21st Century take on the 1950's Guild gramophone style all in one but the Guild was massively better in quality.
    The problem with the Pyle is same all of the other nostalgia players. I fixed the turntable with a new motor and some tweaking of the variable resistors. The CD player likes to stay jammed closed, the tape deck develops terrible wow and flutter after 30 minutes of play. I would have been willing to pay extra for actual quality.

    11:00 Frankly, I was pleasantly surprised by how good the music sounded relatively speaking. For what it is, it sounds far better than suitcase record players when playing LP's and 45's (not 3-inch records though).

    Does the tonearm stop at the center from right or does have the ability to freely spin around the entire device? The reason I ask is if the record would sound any better if tonearm was on left side instead of the traditional right side when playing or could it be better for the antiskate.

  • @steveweinberg462
    @steveweinberg462 ปีที่แล้ว

    As you and others observed give it a regular tone arm and it'd look a lot better. Sort of mid-Century modern. Other than the 3" it sounded decent. Are there screw holes for speed adjustment? I off hand didn't see any.

    Thanks for giving Laura's LP a plug! It sounds a little draggy to me. Maybe the weigh of the 180-gram LP is more than that little turntable can handle.
    Sad to see the Christmas lights go. I enjoyed them very much. I feel guilty now for occasionally skipping to the reviews. I only did it when watching while cleaning parrot cages, so I couldn't keep my eyes on the screen, then would go back to watch them later. I'll bet TH-cam's analytics didn't tell you that.

    The Ikea Record Player had no 45rpm adapter so at least this has some type of 45rpm, cheap or not.

    43 .00 I don,t think is bad it looks nice it does not look that cheap the sound was not bad but the tone arm I don't like the way it swings away like that the build looked pretty good speakers were good the platter wish it were a little thick or of metal but one thing I noticed that not trying to critique but that being a ceramic cart it being 5 grams ,when you placed it on record you started midway on track I was told in my youth that you might mess up groove if you think about it it is sitting 5 grams on that one part of groove when you start it all that weight it will dig onto that part of groove and chew it a little slightly if you think like when a farmer is digging up his soil with the plow at first when he starts it it is hard at first it really grabs onto soil but once you get going it is not that hard this may be a poor example of what I am trying to say ,but even with a cart tracking at a very light gram like 1.75 I have never started a record in the middle of song unless record is rotating or you use the starting groove like you have said before as needle is playing records it will ware away so just think how fast you are waring away the groove when it starts at middle of song and damage I have seen a lot of TT reviews with younger people reviewing the TT and a lot of them usually start their new record with tonearm on the middle of a song and they turn on record and usually these are the cheaper type of record players with heavy tracking force wow ,but anyway I kind of liked that record player it would be nice if the horn were functional but it would make a great blue tooth speaker but as always a great review JRo📀
