That maid heart to heart is like the awkwardness of the english voice direction, localization, and just the subject matter mixing into a beautiful cringey and hilarious mess. But that is also a really good example of how good Poppi's VA is at her voice delivery too.

The only ones that can't be filled out using this method are the ones that are "do X damage in 1 hit." Edit: and UM kills, Crafting nodes, and special event/quest nodes, like the ones for Crossette's cooking skills.

Jacob Lester It’s one of the post-battle banter you can get if you have Dromarch as Nia’s active Blade with Vandham in the party. Vandham muses about how well Dromarch gets along with Roc despite being a bird and a dog. Dromarch corrects Vandham to which Roc replies with that.
I wouldn’t say the sole reason. There’s definitely other H2Hs that wouldn’t be the same if they weren’t voiced, specifically those involving a certain duo.
I mean I'd agree for electra and finch, but azami is pretty good if requiring a risky playstyle - though if your going evasion focused and can last at low HP, she can render all to ruin ...rex is a really bad driver for her though XD
Kora’s potential hasn’t been reached. She’s a really good compliment to Crossette’s dependency on HP Potions to make her a monster, but with only being able to use two Blades, Dromarch being mandatory, and not wanting to use an overdrive protocol or release Kora to try and pull her on Rex, we’re not going to see that for a bit. He does want to experiment with Kora and Crossette though when that third slot is finally available.
NinjaPotato Lorf Controversial opinion, I don’t think Godfrey is the worst blade. His damage boosting skills might not be great, but at least he has damage boosts. And his skill against higher level enemies could be used effectively against super bosses or in a NG+ play through

Xenoblade Chronicles 2 fun fact of the day number 21: Today we revisit glitches! In the skip travel menu, you are barred from traveling to a point that is under the cloud sea during high tide- but there is a glitch that allows you to instantly change the tide without resting. The trick requires you to be in Torigoth during high tide and press X to open the skip travel menu. By mashing A during the very few frames where you can select as soon as the map opens, you can open the menu to choose to travel or not. From there, using right analogue stick lets you move to other locations- including the large tree branch you used to sneak onto the warship. This is normally not available during high tide, but the few frames let you select it then. Your character will 'fall' and die, and then proceed to respawn on the branch again. But it will now be low tide! This trick is just a handy way to save a few coins from taking a rest at an inn to change the tide
Honestly I never realized how low the probability of Finch's ability is because it happened CONSTANTLY with me. At least twice every fight (that wasn't really really short), and I saw Finch instantly recharge her level IV three times. I thought Finch was really really good, but I guess I was just really lucky
Finch is a god amongst birds. The only reason she has a shield hammer is to limit herself with the worst weapon type and give all the other blades a chance to shine through her overwhelming superiority.
I like how most items from Xenoblade 1 are also in this one, though I have had some PTSD flashbacks on some of them, specifically some cabbage and beans

This Heart-to-Heart is perfect. It escalates _so_ quickly! Every line out of Tora's mouth is both completely shameless and so audacious that all I can do is laugh _harder_ every time. Nia tries to salvage things with snark, but in the end even she can't do anything except gaze upon the trainwreck unfolding before her. Poppi, being _literally perfect_ in all ways, of course delivers a flawless performance, and this greatly amplifies the effect of Pyra's already-hilariously-awkward imitation. Even leaving Rex out of the scene is a masterstroke, because actually depicting his reaction wouldn't be anywhere near as funny as imagining what will eventually go down when Pyra tries out her new "field skill". This scene is _outstanding,_ and every time I revisit the game I only love it more.

Vandham is one of my favorite characters in this game. Not only because he acts like a father figure to everyone in the party (although especially Rex), but because he manages to have a mullet and pompadour at the same time.
I love that the plot progression from this point forth is: Vandham tells you to go talk to a guy who might know the way to the World Tree, but he tells you to go talk to his Driver, who tells you to go talk to King Eulogimenos Tantal, who tells you to go talk to the Omega Fetter.
Oh boy I didn't realize this H2H was available this early. Since Chugga didn't point it out in the video, apparently "blushy-crushy" is a translation of MOE. I suspected that when I first saw the scene. 36:32 "No, Tora just increase Anime level again." I don't think I've seen the top choice for that one. I think that one's funnier. I love how Nia takes cover. Overall watching this scene again... I don't think it's game-ruining like a lot of people say? There's just something about stoic characters trying and failing to be silly, and Nia's deadpan reactions really sell it.
I remember when I first saw that H2H and I was very...uncomfortable. Thankfully (by the halfway point) the 'anime' tropes the game pulls lessen over time, but this was definitely a H2H that I wasn't a fan of because I know exactly what they were going for, I just think it still missed the mark. I think it's because of the translation effort. The language barrier is undoubtedly difficult because 'Moe' as a concept isn't exactly 1:1 with the western definition of the word 'Cute', so having to invent a new phrase for it, and having that be said multiple times by the cast is...interesting to say the least. It's definitely not the strangest H2H the game has (we'll get to you at the very end of the game), but this one is definitely up there imo.
I wouldn't be surprised if the people who think that it is "game ruining" are the same kind of people who unironically believe that "too anime" is enough of a criticism when they give absolutely zero explanation for it.
I wouldn't call it game-ruining, but I would certainly say that it's very representative of the kinds of tropes this game relies on to tell its story. My problems with this game isn't that it's "anime". Xenoblade 1 had tons of anime elements too, but it didn't rely on those specific elements as much. As an example, the Faced Mechon clearly draw some inspirations from typical anime mechs, but the way in which they're integrated into the story is not only more menacing, but also more engaging than if they were simply "anime mechs" and nothing else. My problem with Xenoblade 2 is that it doesn't really apply any of the anime tropes it's borrowing in unique or interesting ways. It just plops them down into scenes and expects the writing to do itself. Most of the unique blades are just a single trope (ex: Kora is a Genki Girl) stretched out into a 1-Dimensional character. Sure, in any scene with Tora as the lead, you can argue that the "anime" is used purely for comedic purposes, but to me it just feels like lazy writing. They didn't take the time to write a joke; the trope IS the joke. Of course this is just my opinion, so I'm not judging anyone who likes Tora's anime humor. (But Heropon Riki is still BESTEST)

But he also has moments where he's just mindlessly spamming his strongest attacks in the hopes of hitting something (see his first encounter with Vandham). It's not like Ash Ketchum is dumb all the time either. He can actually use strategy (even when it goes against the video game's logic). Honestly, I think Rex's occasional dopiness is more the result of the writers trying to fit him into the average "Shonen Protagonist" mold.
A lot people rag on this Heart-to-Heart, but I've never had any problem with it. Nia really keeps it grounded, and her reactions are hilarious. My favorite is "Whelp, there we go". Her delivery is so pained and perfect.
Same, is it cringe worthy? Yes. . .but it isn't malicious and the game goes out of its way to point out that this is kinda meant to be awkward point on Tora's character.

Things Emile missed: -Coming from the Village and at the point where you would’ve run into the Ether Miasma, go right around the corner rather than turning left as you normally would to progress. There’s a brown treasure trove. Just had some gold in it and nothing else. -Beyond the Underground Spring Emile checked (I don’t know exactly why he didn’t swap out Azami for one of his Water Commons and Kora for Crossette to pass the check, though I do have my suspicions) is a path with a Pippito, a collection point, and a locked chest with some gold and a Blade Combo Boost I aux core at the end that Roc should have no problem opening (t’s a Lockpocking Lv 1 check). Something I’d forgotten until now: the Anchor Shot Topple tutorial’s one of the rare cases where your party gets overridden with no option to switch your party members around. In my NG+ playthrough, Vandham removed Tora from my party and took his place. My guess is that it’s to make sure that Tora doesn’t steal Rex’s thunder by toppling the Ardun first. I also wouldn’t be surprised if Rex is forced to be the player controlled Driver and that Nia is forced in too all to better demonstrate the new and improved Anchor Shot and maybe even show off Launch. From Emile’s comment about not having Rex for that tutorial, that may not be the case, but with as many updates as this game’s gotten I wouldn’t be surprised if that forced party would be part of an update. -In the shallow area past the Mordow Blant hanging out by the water slide and going towards the Underground Spring check is a collection point and a brown treasure trove with some gold and a Specials Lv 1 Plus I aux core. Oh no...is it time? Is Blushy-Crushy upon us? 0:52 Cool of Rex not to do the whole “Nia’s scared of something” bit. I think he knows how intense Vandham can get. 1:30 I guess 7 AM’s a bit early. It’s one of two, one of them being Tank Mod III. 11:28 In reality, you only have to have enough ingredients to make 20 meals with Pyra at Level 2 Cooking to get to Level 3. 50 - 10 (for the Level 2 requirements) = 40/2 (since Level 2 Cooking makes two pouch items for the same number of ingredients) = 20. Also Crossette’s Fortitude is tied to Pyra’s meals, so you’re going to want some for that. It is always fun to spam and chain Driver Arts and being able to reset the cooldown of an enemy’s arts can save your life. If you don’t mind a bit of luck and maybe after you’ve filled her chart out more in addition to getting your Hammer Arts capped out for levels, Finch can be really fun to play around with. Just maybe don’t rely on her when developing a strategy, Murphy’s law and all that. Also probably her biggest weakness one aux core slot not withstanding is just her class designation. She’s a Block Tank thanks to that Shield Hammer, but I feel like she works better when you aren’t drawing Aggro so that way you can safely build up your Arts without having to worry about getting overwhelmed and then let them loose one after another. 21:50 Urayans in Gormott? 32:00 The skeleton hood actually does not affect arts like Rolling Smash. Aggro passively dissipates a little bit each second, and these types of accessories multiply how much they dissipate by.
On a bit more of a tangent, there are two types of aggro, but the only type that really matters is directly generated from the damage you do. This type of aggro only passively dissipates when you are at least 8 peds from the target.

Kora’s potential hasn’t been reached. She’s a really good compliment to Crossette’s dependency on HP Potions to make her a monster, but with only being able to use two Blades, Dromarch being mandatory, and not wanting to use an overdrive protocol or release Kora to try and pull her on Rex, we’re not going to see that for a bit. He does want to experiment with Kora and Crossette though when that third slot is finally available.

Today we revisit glitches! In the skip travel menu, you are barred from traveling to a point that is under the cloud sea during high tide- but there is a glitch that allows you to instantly change the tide without resting. The trick requires you to be in Torigoth during high tide and press X to open the skip travel menu. By mashing A during the very few frames where you can select as soon as the map opens, you can open the menu to choose to travel or not. From there, using right analogue stick lets you move to other locations- including the large tree branch you used to sneak onto the warship. This is normally not available during high tide, but the few frames let you select it then. Your character will 'fall' and die, and then proceed to respawn on the branch again. But it will now be low tide!
This trick is just a handy way to save a few coins from taking a rest at an inn to change the tide

Finch is a god amongst birds. The only reason she has a shield hammer is to limit herself with the worst weapon type and give all the other blades a chance to shine through her overwhelming superiority.

This Heart-to-Heart is perfect. It escalates _so_ quickly! Every line out of Tora's mouth is both completely shameless and so audacious that all I can do is laugh _harder_ every time. Nia tries to salvage things with snark, but in the end even she can't do anything except gaze upon the trainwreck unfolding before her. Poppi, being _literally perfect_ in all ways, of course delivers a flawless performance, and this greatly amplifies the effect of Pyra's already-hilariously-awkward imitation. Even leaving Rex out of the scene is a masterstroke, because actually depicting his reaction wouldn't be anywhere near as funny as imagining what will eventually go down when Pyra tries out her new "field skill". This scene is _outstanding,_ and every time I revisit the game I only love it more.

Vandham is one of my favorite characters in this game. Not only because he acts like a father figure to everyone in the party (although especially Rex), but because he manages to have a mullet and pompadour at the same time.
I love that the plot progression from this point forth is: Vandham tells you to go talk to a guy who might know the way to the World Tree, but he tells you to go talk to his Driver, who tells you to go talk to King Eulogimenos Tantal, who tells you to go talk to the Omega Fetter.
A good episode, we get to see the cuteness of Finch, and the important lesson on maidyness

Overall watching this scene again... I don't think it's game-ruining like a lot of people say? There's just something about stoic characters trying and failing to be silly, and Nia's deadpan reactions really sell it.
I remember when I first saw that H2H and I was very...uncomfortable. Thankfully (by the halfway point) the 'anime' tropes the game pulls lessen over time, but this was definitely a H2H that I wasn't a fan of because I know exactly what they were going for, I just think it still missed the mark. I think it's because of the translation effort. The language barrier is undoubtedly difficult because 'Moe' as a concept isn't exactly 1:1 with the western definition of the word 'Cute', so having to invent a new phrase for it, and having that be said multiple times by the cast is...interesting to say the least.
It's definitely not the strangest H2H the game has (we'll get to you at the very end of the game), but this one is definitely up there imo.
I wouldn't be surprised if the people who think that it is "game ruining" are the same kind of people who unironically believe that "too anime" is enough of a criticism when they give absolutely zero explanation for it.

I remember it being worse, I mainly like how the lower option has Pyra say the lines so seriously, it's a good demonstration of her character.
I wouldn't call it game-ruining, but I would certainly say that it's very representative of the kinds of tropes this game relies on to tell its story.
My problems with this game isn't that it's "anime". Xenoblade 1 had tons of anime elements too, but it didn't rely on those specific elements as much. As an example, the Faced Mechon clearly draw some inspirations from typical anime mechs, but the way in which they're integrated into the story is not only more menacing, but also more engaging than if they were simply "anime mechs" and nothing else.
My problem with Xenoblade 2 is that it doesn't really apply any of the anime tropes it's borrowing in unique or interesting ways. It just plops them down into scenes and expects the writing to do itself. Most of the unique blades are just a single trope (ex: Kora is a Genki Girl) stretched out into a 1-Dimensional character. Sure, in any scene with Tora as the lead, you can argue that the "anime" is used purely for comedic purposes, but to me it just feels like lazy writing. They didn't take the time to write a joke; the trope IS the joke. Of course this is just my opinion, so I'm not judging anyone who likes Tora's anime humor.

@@Ichigo111293 don't get me wrong, Rex definitely has his smart moments, like how he toppled the water tower to get away from Morag. But he also has moments where he's just mindlessly spamming his strongest attacks in the hopes of hitting something (see his first encounter with Vandham).
It's not like Ash Ketchum is dumb all the time either. He can actually use strategy (even when it goes against the video game's logic). Honestly, I think Rex's occasional dopiness is more the result of the writers trying to fit him into the average "Shonen Protagonist" mold.
A lot people rag on this Heart-to-Heart, but I've never had any problem with it. Nia really keeps it grounded, and her reactions are hilarious. My favorite is "Whelp, there we go". Her delivery is so pained and perfect.
Same, is it cringe worthy? Yes. . .but it isn't malicious and the game goes out of its way to point out that this is kinda meant to be awkward point on Tora's character.
I personally enjoy it too if only for Nia's reactions to the scenario XD

-Coming from the Village and at the point where you would’ve run into the Ether Miasma, go right around the corner rather than turning left as you normally would to progress. There’s a brown treasure trove. Just had some gold in it and nothing else.
-Beyond the Underground Spring Emile checked (I don’t know exactly why he didn’t swap out Azami for one of his Water Commons and Kora for Crossette to pass the check, though I do have my suspicions) is a path with a Pippito, a collection point, and a locked chest with some gold and a Blade Combo Boost I aux core at the end that Roc should have no problem opening (t’s a Lockpocking Lv 1 check).
Something I’d forgotten until now: the Anchor Shot Topple tutorial’s one of the rare cases where your party gets overridden with no option to switch your party members around. In my NG+ playthrough, Vandham removed Tora from my party and took his place. My guess is that it’s to make sure that Tora doesn’t steal Rex’s thunder by toppling the Ardun first. I also wouldn’t be surprised if Rex is forced to be the player controlled Driver and that Nia is forced in too all to better demonstrate the new and improved Anchor Shot and maybe even show off Launch. From Emile’s comment about not having Rex for that tutorial, that may not be the case, but with as many updates as this game’s gotten I wouldn’t be surprised if that forced party would be part of an update.
-In the shallow area past the Mordow Blant hanging out by the water slide and going towards the Underground Spring check is a collection point and a brown treasure trove with some gold and a Specials Lv 1 Plus I aux core.

If you don’t mind a bit of luck and maybe after you’ve filled her chart out more in addition to getting your Hammer Arts capped out for levels, Finch can be really fun to play around with. Just maybe don’t rely on her when developing a strategy, Murphy’s law and all that. Also probably her biggest weakness one aux core slot not withstanding is just her class designation. She’s a Block Tank thanks to that Shield Hammer, but I feel like she works better when you aren’t drawing Aggro so that way you can safely build up your Arts without having to worry about getting overwhelmed and then let them loose one after another.

Mmmm, I cannot wait for tomorrow with the introduction of one of the best blades (in my opinion based on personality, relationship with the driver, and appearance) and one of the best characters as well. Oh, the driver is pretty sweet too.

Side note: I’ve never played Xenoblade 2 for various reasons, so I’m not sure how accurate this will be. But I have heard long before this LP was announced that Nia is the Melia equivalent of this game.

Oh BOY, this Heart-to-Heart. This was the first Heart-to-Heart I viewed in this game, and I'm STILL trying to figure out exactly what kind of impression it left on me. XD
For those that want to know, Blushy-Crushy was how they translated The Japanese word "Moe" Which is basically another word for cuteness iirc I forget the specifics on how it differs from "Kawaii" though.

On a bit more of a tangent, there are two types of aggro, but the only type that really matters is directly generated from the damage you do. This type of aggro only passively dissipates when you are at least 8 peds from the target.
