I love how with Rex, the references to his past adventures are pretty subtle, but with Shulk, they're just like "Hey, remember when you turned down the chance to be a God?" or "Remember when Zanza lived inside you?"
Well, to be fair, Nia's ascension quest wasn't very subtle with its references in the base game so it balances out I guess 😂😂😂

The dlc did it too but at least the Xenoblade 2 representation was very good and felt respectful to the fans,
Unlike the 60+ hours base game where over 75% was Xenoblade 1 and the agnus cast had basically no screen time.
Definitely one of the most disappointing things about 3 the game to build off of and reference the predecessors except 2?!

Age hasn't dulled Shulk's mind and it's clear here the same is for Rex with his heart. Time maybe taking its toll on them physically, but on the inside they are just as strong now than they were then.

@@SorowFameI also saw N as a parallel to Shulk at the end of 1 when faced with the chance to become an eternal being under Zanza. The whole trilogy did a really great job at returning to and playing on its previously established themes

Personally I'd love a xenoblade chronicles anime. Where the episodes aren't following a specific story but are telling short stories that happen in between certain events. Like Rex becoming a father, what happened directly after the world split by klaus or what happened to Noah after the events of XC 3
Future Redeemed left too many questions unanswered. We still dont know what Rule 5 of the Salvager's Code is!!

I would have loved it if at some point in future redeemed he told us a new rule of a salvager's code and said "That's rule 36 of the salvager's code"!
Meaning he never stopped telling his friends the rules of a salvager's code after the end of Xc2 and is currently on rule 36. 😂

I love how subtle Rex's references are. Both Shulk and Rex were done justice in Future Redeemed. Sure, the references to Shulk's past adventures were a less subtle, but considering the story, it makes sense that his past would have a bit more significance.
Rex is the best man. Always has been, always will be.

I am not sure if this was true in English, but in Japanese when Rex opens a chest one of his lines is "Otakara getto!" which means "Treasure get!" and in Future Redeemed he also says the same line when opening treasure.
I know in the English version of Xenoblade Chronicles 2 Rex says, “Treasure acquired,” when opening a chest.
In Future Redeemed, I’ve only heard him say “I’ll have that!” and “Love me a bit of loot,” whenever I’ve opened containers. It would be cool if he does say it in the English version of Future Redeemed since he says it in both games in Japanese. I just haven’t heard him say it in my English playthrough so far.

fun fact, when rex says "they wouldnt do it" to A, the camera pans to matthews glove (pnuema crystal) and Ns sword (purple aura, like Malos)
They is "ellas" (female form of they) in spanish, so he was referring to Pyra and Mythra, not Pneuma and Logos.

Presumably, they played the game with Spanish subs, and it used “ellas” for the Spanish equivalent of they in that line. “Ellas” is only used when all of “they,” or at least an overwhelming majority of “they,” are female, essentially confirming that Rex is referring to Pyra and Mythra. If Logos was in the equation at all, it would have used “ellos” instead.
tl;dr Spanish dub strongly implies Rex is NOT referring to Logos in that line (though take that with a grain of salt since there’s always a risk of translation errors when it comes to ambiguous stuff like this).
@@hugenose8824 But also, the Spanish localizers could have interpreted "they" differently. From the way the scene was cut, it was more likely referring to Logos and Pneuma. Localization isn't always 100% accurate.

Yeah I feel like a lot of people's dislike of Rex was from his design and early game lackluster voice acting. Rex wasn't that different in Future Redeemed personalitywise. Yet a lot of people say he was the best part of Future Redeemed.
That's the thing with characters like Rex, they are conceptually kinda boring which is why good execution is very important in making them a good character.

The interaction between Rex, Shulk, Glimmer and Nikol is just so heartwarming it gets me every time.

I’ve always liked Rex despite him being young & immature. Something about his attitude I like & the character growth he goes. Seeing him fully grown seals the deal on him being my favorite character.
I'm still stuck on Nia's portrait in XC3 ending. I can't believe they gave daddy Rex the full harem including one kid each with Nia, Mythra, and Pyra.
5:15 and as an adult Mythra did let him finish, clearly 🤣
I somehow get the feeling both Nia and Rex were allowed to finish considering all that talk about Rex and Nia being "independent" in Nia's route for the quest "beneath the Aurora" XC 2

XBC3’s DLC will probably go down as my favorite piece of gaming. It was a nostalgia trip of 10 years of games and characters that I’ve grown to love.

My belief is that it is the Cassini ethos that Masha mentioned, or some variation thereof. Cassini taking its values at least in part from Rex's Salvager's Code is thematically touching, and it's a nice way to bring the rule 5 meme to a heartwarming conclusion.
Another one I have noticed, after Ive played through it a lot, has been he still says something along the lines of "Go on, praise us some more"

Rex seemed to turn into a very angry and aggressive guy at times in Future Redeemed
He’s a dad now, so it makes sense that he’s strict to Glimmer and as for enemies who can’t be talked to their senses, well… double spinning edge is the legit option for him
