I’m 70 years old and have been around vehicles since I could walk. Family and friends working on vehicles, working in service stations and dealerships and being in trucking but I’ve never seen a Hillbilly Alternator Tester like that. If you don’t learn something new every day you might be dead. 🤷♂️

Necessity is the mother of invention. Theres plenty of specialty tools I've made in a pinch that ended up working BETTER than the oem specialty tools😂 and there was a fair amount of ratchet engineering thrown in. You can use a chainsaw with a shoelace to spin it/charge your battery in a pinch😂 just needs to spinney spin😂
I really love my LJ, it's got over 255000 miles on her. Glad to see Rory has one now, in yellow I looked into getting one that color with white hardtop and automatic transmission wasn't my choice. I wanted a MT and soft top. Later I found a hardtop for sale.

I’ve always heard of that kind of clay referred to as grease. First saw that Ram and figured they didn’t go up high enough to clear the ditch and then Rory tried driving out and it was obvious what happened.
Between you guys, Paul, Matt, The Peck Bros, that’s the first time I’ve seen a timing light come out. I was thinking they lived in the same cupboard as angle grinder guards.😂
There were times during the trail run of this video that I was leaning sideways because I didn't want to go slideways. I also grew to not really like driving through the brush mostly because you couldn't see the trail edge, not knowing if there was a washout hiding in the brush. Otherwise that was beautiful country to ride in. As Mike said, that is a great dry weather trail.

Waaaay back in the Old days timing was set without instruments. Remove the plug on the #1 cylinder The crank shaft was turned by hand until the piston was almost TDC, loosen the distributor & removing the Cap then we rotate the unit until the points sparked. Button it up and voila, the timing was set. I miss those days, my 1962 Chevy C60, mine had an L6 230 for light duty cargo hauls from the farm

That trail looks like a great place to block off completely with boulders, plant tons of trees in the trail all along, and forget it was ever there. 😂 Yikes! Isnt that where you guys did that recovery a couple weeks ago? Wow. Nice job not losing vehicles down the hills. That was not a relaxing weekend scenic drive sort of video. 😂 Enjoyable nonetheless. Very interesting. How the heck did that truck get in there! Good grief! And then she wants it out with MINIMAL DAMAGE????!!!! 😂😂😂😂 Y'all did an excellent job. Fortunately for the truck owner, you guys are the masters of minimal damage, unlike whoever took that truck into there. Impressive!
The Ol' Scrambled Scrambler is going down the road, I always liked them and wanted one growing up in the 80s, I ended up buying a used 84' Wagoneer with a select trac transfer case in 89' after graduation, the 4 wheel drive was on vacuum I guess, but the transfer case was old school lever into low, the engine was a 2.4 v-6, always wanted to soop it up but never did. I did install a 4" Rancho lift for wheeling and hunting. it was Cherokee size, solid dark brown, no paneling design down the side like most wagoneers do, Enjoyed the fixes and recoverys. You guys make the day a little more tolerable. ❤❤ 🗽🇺🇸🍁

I live in Beautiful British Columbia and have lived in various regions from border to border but there's something about this area that appeals to me. Maybe it's the exposed geography where you can literally see millions (even billions) of years of rock. I've said it once and I may as well have said it a thousand times, this is beautiful country that you're in.
Rory should charge double for the recovery of that Ram pickup. Going to need the extra cash for a cut and polish on the new LJ (it needs a name please)! The noise of the branches scraping down the sides and top of the jeep were hard to listen to.

That was fascinating back country. And, I appreciate how much work goes into making these videos. Rory taking a picture of Mike taking a picture of Rory taking a picture of Mike. Further, that sky was awesome.
It's another excellent video of legit how things really happen content. My two favorite parts were when Rory was down by the truck being recovered, and the sound went out, and it just said “caption” on the screen, and when he knew the jeep was going to slide off the trail.
We were just out in Moab and had a great time camping on some BLM land. Running some trails including part of Metal Masher with our 4Runner. We didn't have time to stop by, but did see Sean drive by in the white Ford wrecker. Glad we made it through without having to call you. The new Jeep will be a cool addition to the fleet.
New Jeep seems to be a good vehicle well suited to some tasks - gotta love a yellow Jeep. Nice job turning that truck around and getting it out of there.

Dropping Trailmater from that trailer reminded me of when they used to drop tanks out of the back of C-5s and a couple of other transports. It was strapped to a pallet and had about three braking parachutes. The crew did not ride the tank, but parachuted out of a separate plane (ever go skydiving, Rory? LOL. Apparently the practice was stopped in the late 1990s.😀❤👍
For some inexplicable reason I expected a trailside motor swap 😂 But seriously, when's that coming? 😏 In the meantime I enjoy another riveting episode of snaking yet another landship out through a single trail. 👍

Wow, I can’t believe she drove that truck back in there, the sound of those limbs running down the side of it, she is gonna have to have it buffed at the paint shop. You guys did a fantastic job getting it out of there, that mud gets to be a slippery as ice some times! I have busted my back side getting out of the truck, 😂 it’s been a while!
Remember power timing by the seat and ears. Would set timing for fuel just out of spark knock range and dragging starter during hot start and flooring it to feel the power from the seat timing would be perfect for power instead of the weak emissions sticker timing.

I thought that it was pretty cool how you used the winch to help the truck do a front dig to get turned around. You have a pretty strong handle on the dig principle. You explained it to a customer who was driving his own vehicle out as you ran the winch. "Trust me, you'll see what I'm talking about" you told the guy. Next thing we hear him hooting all kinds of excited and having fun as his truck is doing a rear dig so beautifully. "How bout that"? Rory is heard asking the guy.
Well if you dont wanna damage your vehicle, dont go off roading it. Really simple. Really nice job guys

While I've never seen one exactly like that, I once had a test bed that the motor blew on that we replaced with a drill motor.

We have clay that in some places here in Kansas ! When it gets wet it's best to stay off of it especially if you don't know how to drive on it !
It’s not that hard when you don’t own it. It is a government agency vehicle.

I thought that it was pretty cool how you used the winch to help the truck do a front dig to get turned around.
You have a pretty strong handle on the dig principle. You explained it to a customer who was driving his own vehicle out as you ran the winch. "Trust me, you'll see what I'm talking about" you told the guy. Next thing we hear him hooting all kinds of excited and having fun as his truck is doing a rear dig so beautifully. "How bout that"? Rory is heard asking the guy.
