A simple side note… As a New Mexican used to gigantic topo scales, one of the things that's remarkable to me about many of these episodes are the drives through rural Pennsylvania towns. The roads are so narrow and the houses right on top of those roads. Pretty remarkable driving, Sam.

-SOOOO glad big John got you to start a channel, one of my favorites. Unlike some giant youtuber's such as, HeavyDSparks (what a douche), you downplay how good you are with machinery, and machining, which is one thing that make you so great to watch. But you have deep knowledge in so many mechanical and machinery topics that I am convinced there is nothing you can't make work. I save up several of my favorite youtuber videos to watch early Sunday mornings and I always save yours for last to get my day on to a positive upbeat note.
    - I worked for Cat for 36 years (1987 - 2023) at 8 different locations in IL 1 in Indiania and 1 Greenville SC. My dad work for cat designing engines from 1968 until 2006 so as I am sure you can imagine I have yellow blood. I love watching you work on old iron but Cat gear has special place on my heart.
    - My uncle drove a truck for many year and he always used to carry a little yellow MAP gas torch with him for winter fun.
    - does the left side decal say D8H and the right side say D9?

I was a conductor on a work train that had a low center flat car. We hauled equipment on the great salt lake in 1983 when it was flooding. First thing the foreman for Helms Construction was to have the new operators side load a Cat 345 on the steel deck of that low boy flat. Steel on steel half the track hanging off the side made a tough load. More than one walked away, it made you pucker. Trial by fire for sure. Matt unloading reminded me of that. You guys are great

you and diesel creek should put together a high volume hydraulic pack trailer that you can hook up to machines like this you want to recover. then run some giant primary hoses to get all hydraulic functionality without needed to get their engine running. the d8 could tow the pack from the woods to the lowboy. go for a gyro hydraulic filter system so the crap in the hydraulics don't wreck your pack.

Congratulations on your 100k subscribers. This channel is really what's all about saving and preserving equipment that built America and the western Europe in the 50's and 60' up to the 70's. I/we really like your knowledge on these machines. If no1 excavator on TH-cam (Christopher LD18) has a question on old equipment, you show up. You can't get a bigger compliment. That's what I like about your video's, even starting that generator three weeks ago, I would have sh$t my pants starting it. That's a big machine and you were able to fix it.... You're a asset to restoring these monuments! So it won't be lost for the next generations.... Compliments from the Netherlands.

C@C equipment just took off a self contained winch from an oskosh military truck why not make something to house it so you have a way to load your dead equipment (winch truck ) or a way a skidsteer could move it around just need to make a front piece of metal to dig into the ground to prevent you from moving when winching if you go the skidsteer method. Just an idea to make loading easier also you need to get some bailey synthetic slings instead of using chains.🎅

It’s one of those things where if done well things are fine. But, it very quickly turns into damaging things. And, things are going to get torn up learning how to do it.
For a company it also turns into a large liability for something that can be avoided.

Another great recovery! You guys always manage to get it loaded and home. Looks like a sweet tractor that will live another day.
