Your family values (including the extended shop family), great wholesome content sure go a long way toward your success. It would upset the sales though, they sell these as "lifestyle" vehicles and they are expected to be "cool" and recovery points are not "cool" and hint that the machines aren't as good as the sales materials says they are which means no recovery points allowed so that potential -victims- owners don't know how crappy they really are until after they signed for the loan.

      "Sharks detect blood at about 1 ppm average. That, however is not even that significant in the animal kingdom, as many other fish respond to similar concentrations. The scent detection of sharks has been heavily editorialized.
      Humans, however, can smell and taste a sensation called Petrichor caused by a compound called Geosmin. Geosmin is produced by cyanobacteria and humans are sensitive to it at 1 part per billion at the very minimum, with reactions to it as low as several hundred parts per trillion. That’s thousands of times more sensitive than the shark’s meager 1 part per million at minimum.
      And we’re not the only ones that are that sensitive to geosmin; it’s believed that flies can detect it at lower levels than we can.
      Water is the key to all life on planet earth. The evolutionary pressure to locate and consume enough of it is absolute."

    Khaulin, “Turfing it” is bad, but a “Yard Sale” is worse. That’s when you are unconscious long enough that a crowd has gathered and is picking through your equipment to see if there’s anything they want, on the off-chance you are dead. My last one was at “The Cliff” on the Yellow River trail in Northeast Georgia back in 2003. This trail is used by foot and horse traffic also, and those type of vultures were picking through my stuff when I came to and ran them off. Not a one of them even asked if I was OK! Too close to Atlanta to have any manners, I guess... Fortunately, the only loss I suffered was a shattered helmet, which Bell replaced at no charge, even paying for the shipping. That helmet saved my life!

    • @MrModTwelveFoot
      @MrModTwelveFoot 11 วันที่ผ่านมา +8

      It's because you can finance them and immediately go with several people and off road. They are the scourge of the off road community because people with no trail edecuit abuse trails and overall act stupid, driving in groups with loud stereos and lighted whips. Dirt bikers especially despise them for wrecking single track. Places like Moab and Sedona have rental places that send hundreds of them out into the trails and are a major part of the problem.

      SXS started out filing a need between a 4 wheeler and a small truck/jeep where only a very few vehicles like the Samurai played. Then the American beliefs of bigger, faster louder are all automatically better took over, and now SXSs have to much HP and too big of tires for the frames which haven't really evolved. All people see the tires and HP # they think the SXS should be able to do what a built Jeep can do, but they cant.

      @@andrewr2650 When Yamaha Rhinos were super popular because they had better power than other sxs's people would roll on hills at Glamis because of the short wheel base. Now they are way bigger and more powerful so that makes them better but I agree that the frames and suspensions are puny. A well built rail is better and stronger but rails have to be built and sxs's are turn key vehicles that makes it easy for the masses to get into the sport. It has reached epidemic levels at Glamis now with hundreds of them covering the dunes. And the high desert has teams of partyers in them traveling around at night disturbing the calm, it's a nuisance

The footage of this slender young chick, elbow out the door, confidently one handing it, across the Rubicon trail in a monster, fat footed wrecker, with a muscle care exhaust note, & a poor helpless pickup in tow, would have to blow the wannabe's away.

    Matt you need to make a stinger arm for the Wrecker for these sxs. use 2 of the Pintle hitch points to attach to. some pipe that slides in each other to pin it at the distance you need, a T Bracket with strap anchor points to hold the SXS and then you can use the boom winches on the stinger to lift it. you will keep all the movement you need and stop all the swing no need for anyone to ride in the sxs if the wheels lock straight, other wise you can just strap it straight.

    If you have a spreader bar, you could hoist from the top without any risk to the roll bar, lift it sideways and if you had an under-reach you could set it right down on the under reach stabilizing it from the top with the spreader bar (Like you would do towing a motorcycle on an old hook and chain truck). Also the way you tow things behind this truck, you could really benefit from a spreader bar there too. Eliminate some of the swinging and pulling forces that you usually encounter.

    Hi Matt and crew and your better (and cuter) half. I watched this video and I had an idea that might help on the recovery of these side by sides or maybe you have already thought of it and rejected it, but here it is. Build a simple spreader bar that is the width of the side by side that you could fit between the two winch lines so they don't squeeze in on the sides of the vehicle. This could be something as simple as a 2X4 with a notch in each end to hold the rope and then a pin to keep the rope from jumping out to an adjustable length bar that could fit multiple vehicles. Just something to consider. Maybe also think about a strap on bumper that would hold the winch lines away from the back or front end if you are lifting closer to the center. It would not need to be much, a ring to run the line through and some way to fasten it quickly to the frame, maybe something like a torsion shoe like you would find on a pipe bender.
