I just watched his debut and he was throwing straight up 12-6 curveballs and they kept calling it a slider and it was confusing the hell out of me. This makes way more sense. But the college highlights looked way way way way more slider-y. So I wonder what's changed.
Its hard to see the lateral movement because of the camera angle. Although after listening to him, it seems like he is trying to throw it like a curveball.
It is probably based on the spin direction. Sliders are typically 8-9 o’clock and curve 12 to 6 spin. The power slider he is talking about is what my son is working on as well. It has some left to right movement but it is adding more up to down movement as well.
@@BryanEisenbergTheGrok just seems like it would be better categorized as a power curve based on how he describes how he throws it, but maybe I'm missing something. Realize I'm splitting hairs here, but still.
@@jtark31 that is what Tom House likes to call it. But the way Rapsodo would classify it would be by the spin axis. If you look at Trevor Bauer’s stats you will see he throws 2 types of sliders. He is throwing a traditional gyro slider and this type of slider as well.
This guy is so good I look up to him
Same
That was good. He really opened up because he respected your knowledge and understanding

i can’t believe this guy is in the mets system. what a steal!
Welcome to the Mets
Isn't that just straight-up a curveball? A little confused why that's considered a slider at all.

Cause of the speed of the pitch, sliders r usually alot faster than curve balls
I wish the Mets signed him
Mets better sign him
LFGM!!!!
