How to tie the Fiador Knot for a Rope Halter

These directions are adapted from The Ashley Book of Knots. I find this method quicker and easier than the one done on a flat surface. My mom filmed and edited the video. Good luck!

By far the best tutorial about knotting the Fiador on the webs. You can actually see what she does, no long boring conversations, easy to do step-by-step. To think I tried "the other way' first... while not succeeding. I can now do it while walking my dog and not paying attention to the rope :P Thanks for this :)

This technique is so very easy! You know the other one I take it, where you have to place the rope down on a table and lay down loops and do the over/under thing.. I just could not follow what they were doing (my brain is hyper active, if it takes to long.. it starts going banana's) Other video's with this technique take so long.. SO LONG! This is quick, easy, and with very clear instructions.. thanks! I shared it with friends, hopefully they will no longer shy away from the Fiador themselves.

I found a lot of video instructions but noone that made sense to me until a while ago I found a vid by peace donkeys that does the same way you do but from another angle. I was so happy to find a vid that made sense, imagine my disappointment when I still couldn't get the knot. 😅
Then I found your video, don't know why your video works better for me because as far as I can tell it's the same method but I guess we all learn diffrently. 😊

Thank you for a nice video for which therefore I would ask you some more explanation . The locks where to attach the lead are too long , how can we modify without risk and I would like to know where is to be the noseband and where to begin the halter : is there a small length, a long one ... Aw don't give up! I spent a month trying to tie it with a different method (laying it flat on the ground), and then the instructions for it in the Ashley book of knots had an error. Which made it even harder to figure out 😂
What in particular is giving you trouble? The knot needs to be teased and adjusted and looks pretty messy when you first put it together.
CantioHorse thanks and I’m having trouble with the finishing when I’m done it looks like a money did it 😅 and it’s like it has two separate knots not one single knot
@@Theolsunnybrand to me it sounds like you either accidentally skipped a step, or got your ropes twisted. If it's non of those things you have to tighten it carefully if that makes sense. In the very beginning when you fold the rope, keep it square and neat with your fingers like the video shows. Then try teasing the knot closed very gradually, pulling the 4 tails on top and 4 from the bottom a tiny bit at a time. I hope this helps at all?
