Always wear a life jacket on when you are on the boat. Especially when you see waves like that.
A life jacket isn’t gonna do shit in that wave. Engine fails, you better dive deep.
Exactly great advice. It's really simple if you're a waterman. You know how to swim you've been in cold water you've been in all sorts of different kind of water. Big wave small waves deep dives.
For a waterman it's not a big deal it's everyday life.
But for people that never really swim in the ocean getting stuck in that situation would be very scary.
Learn to swim well and dive. More helpful than lifejackets in this case

Well they still got the jet ski's here, in my opinion they shouldn't even have boats there... The jet ski's can handle it.
I’m glad non surfers can get a chance to feel the power of the ocean up close but man if this is gonna be something that happens to every large epic surf spot eventually, I don’t think I would enjoy that
this has been happening for years and it only really happens at spots that have waves only really advanced surfers can actually surf successfully

I miss Tahiti, but I'd put on a PFD with those waves, I believe that's a shallow reef with sharp coral.

Yeah I was waiting to see it in the background! maybe if they filmed longer... but that was hectic
yes it is and with this view you understand why he was caught , to close to the point, local bravado ,want to give his passengers an adrenalin rush , nearly end in a catastrophic event , it 'was the more inside boat on the point , if you're a surfer you can duck dive those beast but unless you have the huge responsibility to bring back your passengers safe you don't act like you're alone , very poor man judging , in a real world this captain loose his commandment and it will be well deserved

This really is stupidity and it is no wonder there was nearly a tragedy the next day in similar conditions. All it would take here is one rogue wave in this set and half these boats would get cleaned up along with a bunch of people who are not equipped at all at dealing with such a situation.
Wait until you get a rouge set and it catches the boats on the inside! Then you’ll hear some screaming!

They act like its pirates of the Caribbean ride at Disneyland. Mother nature deals you a wild card here and they find your body later.

Ask to any of the boats drivers what would happen if they had a mechanical failure of their engines.....you'll see the perfect idiot's face almost immediately. Other than that, what a beautiful day!

Haha I'm the one in the pink fins. It's hard to tell kinda but I was talking to the surfer in front of me just before and my camera actually got stuck in his leash and the last wave me and the other photog got sucked over. Luckily the ski was there to scoop us but so heavy!

I'm guessing getting on one of those taxi boats is as safe as getting on a motor scooter in middle of India no life vests no helmets they do realize the top of that wave is deeper than it is to reef below. And know they don't have insurance. Pretty soon everyone gonna run q taxi buisness and place gonna be over crowded people fighting cuz surfers dont fuck around with their waves
