250,000 miles on my 02 Tahoe LT with the 5.3. Great suv and still going strong.
My buddy has one with 400,000 on original motor.
It drives
Immaculately.
I got a 2000 GMC with 255 K miles . Never a serious issues.
my daily is an 01 5.3 Tahoe, I got 314k miles on it and she runs like a champ. original transmission and engine.
I own a '91 V10 Chevrolet Blazer, it's a Square body, and the very LAST year that you could remove the top. This thing is "BUILT LIKE A TANK", when you crawl underneath it.....wow, how it's made is incredible. Pretty soon, I'm gonna sell it.
V10 Chevy blazer?
What?
@@fastinradfordable Yes, incase you've not heard,,,,(sounds funny to me also), the K-5 Blazer's designation changed to : V10,,,,,it's the same dang thing, just name change in '89. It's a 5.7 /V8/350.
So, you like the 5.3 best? What do you think of/about the older 5.7? What do you see , as pro's/ con's of each? I am very interested in what you think.
Honestly I haven't worked on much 5.7's, but they are pretty good from what Ive seen. 5.3 iron block will always be my favorite tho.
The 5.7 is technology from the early 1960s
So you have faith in technology from the 60s?
Or 1990s
So I’ve owned both and the 5.3 is good but. The 5.7 in the GMT400 platform is where I’d put my money again. The GMT800 platform is great but reliability wise the 5.7 vortec was better overall. To be honest the best reliability wise is the 5.7 TBI . Mostly because they don’t make enough power to tear anything up. Couple that with the lack of autotrac NP246 it’s a reliability monster
lol
TBI 5.7…
Just had to fix one the blew a headgasket and was pouring coolant out the exhaust.
The fact the LS headgasket alone is so much more superior to the 5.7
The 5.7 headgaskets are literally 1950s technology.
