Ganymede is completely unisex IMO. I am female. I wear Ganymede year-round but particularly in the fall. It's one of the few perfumes in my collection that I received several compliments on when I've worn it. This scent lasts on my scarves for several days. In fact, it scents my entire closet in a lovely way. It is mineralic, ozonic, osthmanthus/mandarine leather for me. A favorite in my collection.
This is the only vid on youtube which goes too deep into the smell nuances. Really good video. This is a mysterious scent which is unlike all the perfumes being sold nowadays
'Space-age fougere'. Yes I got that immediately when I sampled it. As I say in my review it smells like something a male from the 22nd Century would wear. I loved it straight away, no question. Great review guys, as ever. x
This fragrance probably more than any other provokes such different reactions on people. Seems everyone smells something different, people mention a dentist smell, some others mineral, for me it's all about the seaweed. I love this one, great performer, projection and very unique
That metallic quality and mineral quality you’re talking about reminded me of when you turn on the faucet, and you smell the water coming out of the faucet. Kind of metallic and aquatic but more in a humidity way
I totally agree with your comment about if you pick it up in a shop you won't smell it again. When I gave it the first spray, it didn't surprise me. Give it a day or two, I gradually started to enjoy in the fruity and leathery vibe.
I totally agree, and it’s probably why we tune in because Wafts is so much more than a run of the mill fragrance channel - it has context. Also, the acoustics in this one - by virtue of filming in a church - are sublime. The review sounds like homily.
I hated this when I blind bought it & thought it had no projection or performance & the smell was interesting but nothing special . So lucky I didn’t sell it & left it on my shelf for a month or so . Went back to the atomiser recently & it smelled amazing & so different to anything else in my collection . Now I love it & so happy to have it & it pulls compliments & it’s super unique .
Just the answer I was looking for. Bottle coming in few days and while I had 10ml sample the smell was amazing, unique but no near high performing fragrance. Not bad but not like everybody is talking about. So not to panic? There should be a law that fragrance shouldn't be out in sale until liquid is macerated. It's just dumb to pay 20,50,100,200,300$ to just look at the bottle for at least a month.
Just got a sample and I was sitting there thinking it's like I'm sniffing a dumbbell. Thank you for confirming this. Thought I could be having a stroke..
What an interesting video that I've not come across before, and I very much enjoyed the focus on just one fragrance - fascinating! Thank you for introducing me to Shy Mimosa of Bristol and their newsletter NEZ. My unusual fragrance, which reminds me of melting tarmac on a hot summer's day, is 'Tubereuse' by Maitre Parfumeur et Gantier.
just now seeing this one. Ganymede is one of my favs. I personlly don't get any Terre D'Hermes, more so Fahrenheit, Reflection Man...mineralic, melting florals and immortelle as main player. Have you tried B683 Extrait yet?
I've loved Ganymede from the moment I smelled it. To me it was unlike anything I'd smelled before, the closest in style/genre maybe is TF Oud Minerale to my nose. Ganymede to me is a mineralic, airy and clean suede leather, almost salty like wearing a light suede bomber jacket on the beach at night. I don't get any Terre D'Hermes myself as I'm not a fan of that particular fragrance (the image of dirty rotten orange peel on my skin has been too hard to ignore lol). Thanks for your great review, guys. Keep up the good work
It really is an interesting creation. We've started exploring the Art and Olfaction nominees for this year, and so far we haven't encountered anything as strikingly original as this.
VERY mineral to me. Absolutely love it. Reminds me of a cold springhouse or a creek flowing over rocks. I think it's unusual and challenging, I wouldn't say it's a crowd-pleaser.
I purchased the Dua brand clone called The Cupbearer and it came off smelling like a freshly opened Band Aid smell...let me know if you get that smell also
I know Dua is a good clone house but never smelled Ganymede and have seen good reviews on how close it was to Ganymede but should it have a plastic band aid rubber smell or is my nose too basic for such a fragrance
Dan n Joe, Aulentissima is making hand made parfums with great performances....try Jardin de Marrakesh n Capodimonte if possible n I'm sure you will be impressed......
Out of interest. Does Ganymede smell more accomplished/Better blended/Higher quality than the aforementioned (in the video) Terre d Hermes...You mention a brief early similarity...Or is Terre d Hermes, more accomplished and a more pleasing fragrance.
This fragrance for me is so strong it actually burns my nose, throat and sinuses, I love the smell but after wearing it for a few hours it makes me ill, similar to a cold or a flu. The same reaction I have with BR540 and Ambre Royal OJ. I assume it may be an ambroxan overdose?
I wish the metallic note was turned down just a bit. Stops me from enjoying it properly. Very interesting fragrance though. Lasts an age on me. Could smell it on my arm a day and shower later.
@@Mrfluff4 there is a specific smell to a dentists office that is very similar to Ganymede. Its not a bad smell, clean, metallic, alcoholic, but very recognizable. I know of others that have the same association
Ah. I've heard about him on scented moments' channel. Theres so much niche these days. Surely its becoming too big to be a niche? More of a gaping chasm
It smells like some ozonic air freshener on a space station and not a perfume. It has no beauty or something captivating in its scent profile. When I first sniffed this I thought of emperor's new clothes.

Sorry, but this is more masculine so try not to convert your aroma, ideas or style into manly ones 🥴🤣
I've been looking for a burnt orange, vetiver, ginger ale, futuristic, synthetic, abstract, fruity, mandarin, suede, metallic, new carpet, ionised air, violet leaf, oil, gassy, cumin, curry, immortel, spice, lego cumin, tin, leather, candy floss, mineral, salty, iodine, ambergris, raspberry donut fragrance for ages.
I hope this is finally the one.
Hahaha
😂😂😂
Best perfume-review comment ever! And I’ve read millions of them…
This is the only vid on youtube which goes too deep into the smell nuances. Really good video. This is a mysterious scent which is unlike all the perfumes being sold nowadays
Great video. You guys were spot on on this. It is a bit fruity, metallic, space, fabric and suade. Its has become my Signature scent😍
"Reminds me of being in a spaceship" .... SOLD!
Right...rather in hospital . It smells like bandage. This smells like suede and bandage not like spaceship...of course we all been in spaceship lol

Probably the best Fragrance review chanel on youtube
Thanks!

Great review. Always appreciate your candor. Loved Joe’s reference to Tootsie-it really helped frame your review.😊

And really surprised that Dan wasn't aware of that movie .It's a classic.A big one.
I get insane performance off this. 24 hours easily.
I bought this earlier this year and I've not worked out when best to wear it, beautiful as it is. Any thoughts?
Sorry to hear this 😂
I only get about 6 hours as well and then it's just a very faint trace left

Reminds me so much of BR540 in the drydown. It smells so beautiful, i love Ganymede.
Just had a sample it reminds me a little of Teribble Teddy by Penhaligons

For summer 👌🏼
Initially not so impressed, but at the end,I will have to buy it.Encalade is another interesig one.Performance is amazing.
That's one of the best ones 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
Did you guys get the right sample? Nothing to do with TdH! Phenomenal scent, salty, suede and metallic vibes.
are the 2 variants very different ? which 1 is 'greener' u think ?

I've been seeing some good things about the house and its offerings. So it's great to get two more perspectives on it 🍀

10:12 raspberry donut thing 😂 I can totally see that now that you mention it

john oliver I’d say Ganymede is far superior
Definitely Ganymede, I personally don't get any TdH vibe from it. This is super unique

Well In my opinion it Will be the new Baccarat Rouge…because of the sillage… is so addictive…
Is their anything better I doubt it
I wish the metallic note was turned down just a bit. Stops me from enjoying it properly. Very interesting fragrance though. Lasts an age on me. Could smell it on my arm a day and shower later.
I liked the opening and mid but then it went brown parcel tape. Wished it had more cumin than immortelle
It last 12 hours minimum on skin..
i know what you mean, i smell ganymede as i would open a new shoebox of synthetic leathershoes, or a new ADIDAS soccer ball.
If this was a maison Margiela it would be called: at the dentist 😂
Why at the dentist ?
