    How cool was this! Mizuno truly wants you to know about their product and what all goes into it rather than just throwing you a marketing sales pitch about their flavor of the week new club that will be outdated next week. I’m glad I play mizuno irons because they are amazing clubs and you guys have genuine pride in your product. Also glad you had Ian on, he’s a top notch guy.

    I love the fact that you offering a Gap Wedge in both the Forged and Tour models this year. I hit my Gap Wedge mostly on full shots and like it to feel similar to my other irons. It gives me confidence that I can predict the ball flight. I play MP20 MMC 4-P and JPX900 Gap Wedge now I’m exited to test the 921 Tour Gap Wedge. I wish more manufacturers follow your lead. Thanks

    Just ordered the JPX Hot Metal 921 Pro 6 iron thru gap with the Recoil shaft. Looking forward to playing with them. It's been a long time since I've Mizuno's in my bag. Mizuno has hit a home run with this model!

    Love everything Mizuno is doing. Been playing them since the MP14 MP29 days. Playing everything Mizuno in my bag from driver to putter. If I could change one thing it will be the shape of the driver. I have always loved a driver that is more pear shape than the more rounded heads these days. Taylormade SIM is what I love but I am Mizuno loyal and will be forever. Please Mizuno look into that pear shape driver.

    Mizuno... David... Chris.... Ian.... Fredrik.... Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts with the rest of us. As a Pro Shop Manager at a major US State (NJ) County public golf course complex, Golf has provided a significant amount of psychological freedom. Our revenues for lessons, equipment, greens fees, range ball time, and just a massive increase in interest in the sport has been a big shot in the arm for the industry here in Northeast US. THE VIDEO CHANNELS, (TXG, and your colleagues in NA and across the pond in the U.K) have provided us such a relief during Covid lock downs that a special acknowledgement should be given to all of you !!!!

    Really really great to watch this video.
    My initial thoughts of these was more in line with your GolfWRX critics, likely due to the fact I stare down at my MP20 blades and HMB's.
    As the video went on, I started to really appreciate what they are and quite like the look, just like Chris said.
    Unfortunately, you won't find me putting them in the bag for next year due to my current love affair with MP, but this video confirms why I chose Mizuno clubs 👌👌👌

  • @gb8327

    Questions for Mizuno that were not addressed in this discussion: What is the recommended wedge combination with JPX921 forged irons since they are now stronger by a degree and potentially ‘hotter’? Linked to that question, how do you get from 9 iron or PW in JPX921 forged to lob wedge given there are no 46 or 50 degree options in the new wedges? Would a typical 4 wedge combination be 46 and 50 in the T20 wedges and then 54 and 58 in the new wedges? Any insights greatly appreciated!

    I totally think this way of releasing information is top shelf. This needs to be the gold standard. I am totally purchasing JPX HMP and ES21 54/58 in september and october. Totally psyched for 2021 with these clubs. Will the MP33's finally come out of the bag? I think so. I realize MP33 to HMP is quite a jump, but lets see how it goes.

    Question for Mizuno: How do we make the decision between the T20 wedges and the ES21 wedges? What sort of player would be suited to each? I am also a bit torn between the wide sole and regular sole on the ES21 - do you think it will become common to have one of each (sand wedge wide sole and lob wedge regular sole)?

    • @eugenehuysamer2599
      @eugenehuysamer2599 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      As a golf professional, a Mizuno and equipment junkie, I can give you some advice from my side. From my side in wedges bounce is your friend. The more the better. Always go with 10' bounce or higher. I can tell you now that you will see all type off players, high and low handicap putting these bad boys in the bag. Regarding the sole I will say the narrow sole in the sand wedge and the wide sole in the lob wedge. I will go with the 56/10 for the sand wedge and for the lob wedge I will take the 58/08 and bend it to 60/10. On the moment I'm playing the T20 wedges. I took the 51/08 wedge and bend it to 56/13 and the 60/10 I bend to 62/12. I definitely gonna get a set of these wedges as i love the tech behind them. It is also a personal preference and I suggest that you do as much reading in technology and also need to take some time and work out what will be best for you own game. My MP20 MB I have also changed my loft to much weaker than the standard norm now. My irons are all 2' weak, 9iron is 3' weak and my PW is 4' weak sitting at 50'. Get as much info you can for your own game and then only buy.

    • @gb8327
      @gb8327 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Eugene Huysamer Thanks for the advice Eugene. It is interesting that you are considering switching from the T20 wedges to these ES21s. Have you been happy with the T20s? It sounds like you are a better player than me yet I am considering the T20 wedges as an alternative to the ES21s, which is perhaps a mistake (I have tested the T20s successfully indoors but unfortunately not outdoors with the partial shots). Regarding your comments on the bounce, I certainly agree, although my home course is a links in Cape Town with generally tighter lies on the fairways and firm sand in the bunkers. It’s a pity Mizuno are making these JPX921s stronger because it makes it even more tricky to bridge the gap from 9-iron or pitching wedge to the gap wedge.

    Very sad that the 921 forged is not available in left hand aside from the 4/5 iron. Have been looking to see which irons might suit me and be my choice for a while to come and have been testing many brands and models on course (7 iron) including the srixon and TM new line. Fortunately I was able to try the sel (tour) in left hand 7 iron and like it especially less offset and better look but would have loved to have tested the forged to actually make the move especially given other tests and brands including pxg gen 3s. Having used and had many Japanese brands in the past from srixon, prgr, xxio, yonex and many more am very sad mizunibhasbkeft out the lefty on the forged club

    Great video. How much loft adjustability will there be on the Hot metal pro irons? A combo set with these and forged would be perfect, but there's a fair bit of loft difference between the two, so some tweaks would be needed for gapping.
    Thanks

    Want that tour model so bad. My wallet says no but those are to nice to say no to. Full bag of mizunos with SC18 model, invested in 4 new T20 wedges this year, new driver, new ts spoon, new hybrid. I need a special discount! 😅 How about new offerings on shafts? The nippon wedge flex and tx125 shaft needs to be available since it’s Japanese high end shafts to match the Japanese quality steel in the forging

    I’m excited about everything. However I have some questions and concerns. With the ES21 I love the black finish as I’m sure most people do. I’ve had black finishes before and one thing I don’t like is how they look after use in rough or sand. Once they get scuffed and scratched it’s sad. How durable is this finish?
    So I’ve spent the better part of the past 4 months researching clubs to replace my 10 year old set. I want my next set to be with me for a long time. For irons I was at the point that I am heavily leaning towards the MP20 HMB’s. Last week I was planning on scheduling a fitting then boom! Y’all came out with the JPX921. I know it’s hard to answer without knowing how I play but is there a major difference between the two irons as far as playability and shot shaping? I’d hate to get fitted to find out I could have waited a short time for something that makes a much bigger difference in my game.
    Thanks everyone, especially TXG who have taught me a lot in the past few months and helped me significantly improved my game.

    Enjoyed this. I've come back to it a couple of times aswell. Looking to hit both the jpx 921 forged and a MP20 mmc & hmb blend. Currently still gaming mp53s. I think the 921s will be better for my game, but not sure im keen going with the PW & GW. Given likelyhood of the Chromoly being a little hotter how would a 45 & 50 T20 wedge fit in with the jpx 921 forged set to 9i?

    • @mizunogolf1906
      @mizunogolf1906  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Don't worry about the shorter irons in the Forged being 'hot'. Its the design rather than the material itself that increases the ball speed. The short irons aren't designed to be hot from the face - so the lofts are a good guide of distance gaps.

      In UK, we were averaging 20 days from order to dispatch. A lot longer than normal - down to a perfect storm of COVID related factors. 1. The assembly line had to be completely redesigned to allow us to re-open......it makes production slower. 2. Once lockdown ended golf went a little crazy - courses are packed and we've had more orders in June / July than we've ever recorded. That also lead to a running down of JPX919 stock....much faster than anyone anticipated back in April / May. So in summary, we're doing everything we can in incredibly difficult circumstances. We appreciate that its frustrating to wait though. If there was anything left that we could do to make that wait go away, we would. Evening hours and weekends at the factory are already happening.

I am definitely looking to replace my MP -60s next year ( a 70th b-day present to myself) and was REALLY hoping that either the 919 HM Pro would be available to lefties by then or that its replacement would be. You get our hopes up, then crush our lefty hearts. I understand it was a business decision to go with the SEL set, but you have eliminated Mizuno options for any lefty who is not an excellent ball striker or a high handicapper that needs the hot metal (especially with the MP20 line only having an SEL set). I would have thought a full JPX 921 forged set could be available for lefties. As a mid to low handicap lefty, I don't have a viable option to play Mizunos. And I don't think I'm alone.

    • @mizunogolf1906
      @mizunogolf1906  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's a tough one and this was definitely more of an emotional choice than a numbers one. The Tour version of JPX hasn't been available lefty ever - we felt like we'd abandoned that player over the last 4 years.....this was our opportunity to put that right. The implication is that there aren't enough good left handed Mizuno forged players for us to open both sets of moulds......so the Forged takes a step out of the left handed offering this cycle. Won't always be this way - could work on a alternate launch shift so that we cover both player types on a slower rotation. We're reading and listening.

      MP 20 I HMB look more like a blade but have more "forgiveness", JPX range is a more modern look. They cross over performance-wise really, i would say from hitting them the MP 20 HMB is between JPX 919 forged and JPX 919 Hot Metal (I could be wrong but that's what I found).....will be a few months before 921s available. MP 20s released last year about October so are current and new- they do alternate years on release of MP and JPX ranges.
      Bottom line is if you loved the look and feel you have chosen well 👍👍
      There's a Facebook group where people chat about them, private group called Mizuno Golf, 29k members

      @@guille7508 Trust the fitter 🙂 How did you feel hitting them? I'm guessing they felt good and distances and consistency were good? You will love them. PS The only thing I find with any new clubs is the turf interaction will feel different to your old clubs- that can take a few rounds to adjust to.

    I'm playing mp18 mmc right now...+1.8 hc was playing 900 tours and want to go back to jpx line... but 919 forged was too big for me... too thick too much offset....921 forged might be my club but with mp18mmc the chrome hides the thickness... im getting 178 carry with 7 iron will 921 forged be TOO LONG

    Why why why have you made the HM lofts stronger 😪 - will probably stop me switching this year 🤬

      The COG has changed a lot as well. They need the loft to come down to produce the right trajectory, The Tour flight and COG hasn't changed - so lofts haven't changed on that model. Design and loft have to move hand in hand.

    Stop short changing lefties and doing the SEL series. Let us pick what clubs we want for ourselves and stop making a set you think we'll like. You don't pull this crap with righties do you? I am going to play the Taylormade P7 MB or MC this season because you guys won't simply do a set of pure 921 tour lefty or just let me have the option to decide what clubs I want to pick myself. I know tons of lefties last year who were pissed off you pulled the same crap with the MP 20 SEL and bought Titleist irons because of it. If you guys would just give us the option I would have played the MP 20 blades all the way through. What's even worse is if you guys had put some thought into this you would have done the whole set of JPX 921 SEL tour lefty because people who didn't want to buy the MP 20 SEL because of the crappy HMB 3 and 4 could have taken the JPX 921 tour 3 & 4 irons and combo'd it with the MP 20 SEL 5-PW. So, you would have sold more MP 20 sets and 921 sets at the same time.
    PLEASE DO THE RIGHT THING AND COME OUT WITH A FULL SET OF PLAYERS IRONS FOR THE LEFTIES!!!!! Otherwise you're going to loose a ton of lefty business to Taylormade this season and for the foreseeable future!!! They are offering what we want.......options. You guys have better feeling irons, but at the end of the day if you don't offer the options we want we'll just go to another manufacturer that does even if they don't feel as good.

    It's not that people can't hit a 3-iron, it's that specs are so strong that a modern 4 is literally a 3.

    Why is the jpx 921forged lofted irons not chromoly

    • @mizunogolf1906
      @mizunogolf1906  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Chromoly is a material that helps with ball speed - on the shorter irons, we chose the precision of 1025E mild carbon steel......same as the 921 Tour or MP-20 muscleback.
