In Estonian dub, with what I grew up with, he was called Nuuskmõmmik. The dub was horrible and the main reason I never grew into Moomins but now I can watch it in English without feeling the need to rip off my head and drown myself.
Snufkin's 1990 song has to be my favorite. And 2019. also Fuzzy Felt. Oh ESPECIALLY 1970. Yknow what I just love them all too much to have a favorite. (expect the duck one)
00:00 - I like it. It's a bit sad-sounding, so I figured he was playing Villerivallare-Valsen (don't recall what it's called in english), but that is a bit of a sad song with lyrics like "Du vandrar alena, på trötta små bena, och hittar ej hem" (Your walking alone, on tired, tiny legs, and can't find your way home) 00:39 - Duck-billed Snufkin isn't real. He can't hurt you. Duck-Billed Snufkin isn't real. He can't hurt you... (That bit aside, though, it sounds pretty happy. Not as good as the first song, but still good). 01:05 - Feels kind of weird hearing Snufkin play a flute instead of the harmonica (Yes, I know he plays one in "Who Should Comfort Toffle" but in the original it is never stated to be Snufkin precisely, just a Mumrik playing (Snufkins original name being Snusmumriken, which would be closer to The Snuff Mumrik. So it could be Snufkin, or another member of his species). But other than that, I actually like the felt-look and it's a nice melody. 01:46 - Wow... I get some heavy spaghetti-western wibes from this one. This Snufkin feels like he's about to save Moominvalley from some villains using a six-gun and few words. 02:25 - This is the one I remember. I like this melody. Laid-back, neither overtly sad or happy but just... meditative. Relaxed. Like Snufkin himself. 03:02 - Ah! A duet... Not often you hear that, although he did play together with a Violin-playing Cricket in "Comet in Moominland". A bit too short to have an opinion on, however. 03:08 - Oh, the Groke be damned! Snufkins harmonica is made from gold and jacaranda (as stated in the short-story Cedric in the short-story collection "Tales from Moominvalley" (Det Osynliga Barnet)). Could one adaptation please get it right at least? As for the melody, this was a bit overly simple. Not a fan. So all in all, I think the first one is actually my favourite. But I must say I was pleasantly surprised by Gun-slinger Snufkin and how well that fitted (both Snufkin and Clint's The Man With No Name are lone wanderers who travel the earth. Although Snufkin is a bit more of a pascifist than Clint Eastwoods bearded cowboy).
Ah i got to agree on the last one the groke be damned, generations of good musikk play and then that... *sigh* (im so sorry abute my english im typing on my phone and english is not my best side while writing 😅🙈)
@@savoeleft Bit late with my response but it's actually more likely that the first one is the german children's song "alle meine Entchen" (all my ducks) but played slower and in a minor key, considering the show was german and used the same tune but in its original major key a whole bunch of times during the show.
I love the Fuzzy Felt version! I really wish I knew exactly what kind of instrument they used to record that part. It sounds like some traditional Peruvian instruments but I really have no clue.

Yeah. Honestly, Sumio Shiratori’s entire soundtrack for the 90’s series is just incredible. Very heart-felt and inspired. His music is easily the best that’s been applied to the franchise by a very wide margin, in my opinion.
Snufkin in the '69 series is funny because in the first episode they use an original character one time charcater in place of him, The Captain. As if they weren't ready to use Snufkin yet and needed a little pratice first, and once they were finally ready to use him, they knew for certain how to protray him. As a wild west gunslinger. And it somehow fits perfectly
