I’m having some health issues with my joints, but we had a family trip planned for New York City. This th-cam.com/users/postUgkxuxJwamLFanm476LC5WPeTouyyU1GXomC was perfect! It’s lightweight enough that my friend could carry it up or down stairs when we needed to. (I can walk very short distances) It was comfortable for me to sit in, I would say if you’re super tall it might be a little cramped. I’m 5’1” and the foot rests were the perfect height. This may not be the best one for long term use, you get what you pay for, but for something that fits our budget that gives me accessibility while we deal with my health this was amazing.
I think anyone who is rude about wanting to look good in your mobility aid is silly. It's not just vapid, it's clearly a huge purchase, why would you spend that money on something you don't love? Practical things can be pretty too!
@@jessicaoutofthecloset Also: look at car adverts, and how much attention they give to how attractive a car is … and people are not spending their whole day in the car in public. If the style of a car is seen as a valid consideration when deciding which one to buy, that should go double or triple for wheelchair users. Also, I was thinking maybe some custom upholstery slip covers for the back and seat of the chair? So you could have a couple options to match with outfits?
I agree! When I got my cane I got the cute one with flowers on it :) it matters, especially if it means you'll feel more comfortable using your mobility aid!
2 ppl i see around town did that. one has a million stuffed animals all over, and the other person has a skull theme going on (and xmas lights that work on AA batteries)
Jessica, thank you so much for sharing your experience on the search for a mobility device and the news that have chosen one. It was fun and informative to watch. I am looking forward to seeing how you 'pimp your chair" 💞👗👠👜 Tricia B
Hi Jessica, I love your channel. My 14 year old daughter came out last year and I have a chronic illness which has limited my mobility. We have been watching your videos together for about a year. A few weeks ago I lost my ability to walk so I have been in a manual wheelchair but I have been approved of a powerchair/mobility scooter. Your series came at the perfect time. I have been searching for exactly what you ordered so I was hoping you could send me the information about the make and model. Unfortunately it will be a little while to get one. We currently live in a home that has stairs everywhere so I can't get around. We are about to put the house up for sale so we can get a bungalow, once we move I can order my powerchair once the ramp is put it.The hoops we have to jump through for funding. I live near Toronto, Canada and winter has come early, we already have 15-20 cm of snow. I hate the thought of moving in winter. I love the thought of the main floor master bedroom with a walk in shower, plus I get new furniture. Sorry I'm rambling today, I'm quite foggy. Thank you for all you do, it's been empowering seeing someone that also has a chronic illness, mobility issues, hearing issues and memory loss.
Hi Jessica! Yes, I am enjoying the series. I only have a transport wheelchair and ...yeah...we won't get in to that. I am so glad that you found a chair to work for you! :) You are making me laugh about the other medical aids that you use; such as your crutches and wrist thingee. Before you have said that we should not worry about how they look. Why the heck not? ! Fancy duct tape on the crutches! A nice set of cloth covers for the wrist splints! You need these things! You should check out the TH-cam channel #squirmyandgrubs. They are a young interabled couple in Minnesota. Shane has Spinal Muscular Atrophy, which is a form of Muscular Dystrophy. He has been in a power chair since, I think, Kindergarten? He is an author of three books so far; one for kids. They travel giving presentations at schools and other places. Yes, I am being vague! :) Brain fog! Amazed I lasted this long. They are so freaking funny! I am so glad that it is Autumn so you are in your "proper" lol colors for your hair and skin type. Of course, you look gorgeous in anything, but I am particularly fond of you in the darker colors. Much love!
"Why do I need to justify wanting to look good?" is such an important point to make! No one should have to justify wanting to look good and feeling confident in their appearance. Really loving this series x
Great choice! Fortunately, the website says that the fabric on the back snaps off so you could absolutely get it reupholstered in whatever beautiful fabric you would like! Might even be able to do the same with the seat cushion. I sewed a new back for my scooter and it is made a huge difference! I even added extra padding and a pocket on the back. Wish I was in the UK so I could get you kitted out as well. Luckily, it's not a super difficult sewing job so it probably wouldn't be too hard to get someone to help you out!
I completely agree and highly recommend sewing new covers with extra pockets etc🧵 You can also get the frame vinyl wrapped so you could get your crest design put on it 🤓🤗🤗
Agreed! We made side pockets with waterproof linings just in case it got damp or rainy outside. Trust me, having a dry spot when a cloud burst appears can be handy!
Me: *has a terrible day* Jessica: * posts a video on the topic that doesn't interest me at all* Me: *instant happiness bc I just love Jessie and I could listen to her talk about pretty much anything;;*
Such a great looking chair!!! I know I know...I hear you all saying "She doesn’t know Jessica at all if that is her version of pretty chair🙄"! Hear me out peeps; before I had to stop, I worked for a specialist group of MD’s practicing PM & R (Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation plus Rheumatology). This meant I worked w/patients that ranged from: total quadriplegia who used Tongue-Drive chairs, to patients at the opposite of the spectrum, those who walked most of the time, yet used a chair on an "as needed basis". I also worked directly with equipment distributers, b/c in the US (at least in our office), the MD would specify what type of chair the patient needed, & we nurses contacted the company that was the best fit. After that, the wheelchair company took over, they even obtained insurance approval & did the paperwork! Anyway, what I mean by saying it "looks great", I mean that it will be extremely easy to customize! We had a quite a few patients who used chairs like these, & some were decked out! One young lady had tassels on her grips, all of the black areas were painted pink & the company even used "crystals" to spell out her name on one side! Her genius mother went to IKEA, bought an inexpensive faux fur rug, cut it to match the seat & back then simply used velcro (some say hook & loop I believe) to attach it! It’s downfall was that it didn’t have a basket, but the magic of determined nurses, & a front office staff with hearts of gold corrected that.1 pink bicycle basket later, with ribbons & bows at each side, hot glue, beads & clear zip ties, we managed to surprise her at a follow up appt.! We chose the best place for her to easily reach it, secured it with the zip ties, & then stuffed it full of magazines, bottles of water & soda, plus snacks & a gift card b/c the whole office knew her & wanted to pitch in. So to me...yeah, that’s a great looking chair b/c it does pretty much every Jessica asked for, & I’ve seen the potential that they have to look quite lovely! Just be sure to find out how much you can do to it w/o voiding the warranty (if it has one)! I know you, Claudia & Clara can come up with a perfect design, whether you send it out to be done, or you DIY it. I’m so happy you found something thanks to a wonderful subscriber! Can’t wait to see what you think of it! Sending all the usuals 🤗💜🦋😘🐾🐾
When I did archery as a teenager, there was a lady in a wheelchair who attended my club and she had decals of archery targets on the wheels of her chair
I do archery with a walking stick at the moment, but the time is coming when I'm going to be in a chair. I'm not worried about it though - as you said, hey, groovy artwork (I'm definitely going to have Merida on there somewhere) - and I also know thay my club will help me work it all out... And muddy for everyone's info - archery is totally a sport that can be adjusted to your physical capabilities...
haha we talk about this in our house too "pimp my crutches" "pimp my powerchair" etc heehee my instagram is actually pimp my permacath (which is my venous access line. EVERYTHING long term medical needs to be pimped - to humanise it :)
Fran Horne out of curiosity as well as pimping your aids do you name any of them? My grandmother got her walker second hand and it had the previous owners name on it. Ive realized shes happier when we refer to it as Chris or him/he rather then it. I thought maybe it made it seem less like a "thing" to deal with and be burdened with lugging in and out of the car. Any idea if this is a thing or are we just cooky?
It’s always scary when you purchase something that’s so expensive but you’ll be using this often and it’s a very important decision. So glad you found something that will work well for you. 💖
The problem with hiring the power chair is they aren’t fitted for you, when you buy one from a disability/mobility place they fit it to you, mines fitted for my 6ft2 height, the seats adjusted for the angle my hips sit anddddd it’s white with pink pom-poms lol
Wow pimp my chair would be a great follow up series! You could make it look more attractive and maybe add a basket on the side or something that could hold your handbag.
Hi Jessica, I just wanted to comment to say that both of my parents have been full time wheelchair users my whole life. They use backpacks looped over the handles of their chairs for added storage/handbag space - it's so much a part of their chairs I actually thought they were built in for years. Maybe if you found a cute backpack that could work for you and your awesome new chair too?
Honestly, any video you do with Claudia is a joy to watch. Thank you for continuing to fight for your health, and representing women with disabilities with such grace and poise. You are a joy, and a treasure.
okay but being able to fold/unfold something quickly is SO IMPORTANT! who wants to spend 10-15 minutes getting annoyed at a chair not unfolding and potentially spoiling the whole outing? I know it's not the same but I've nannied several kids who had prams and buggies that were absolutely impossible to unfold and it's not very nice standing behind your car, potentially somewhere where there's traffic, and not being able to use the thing you need. congrats on your big purchase! xxx
Hi I am becoming a devoted follower. You have a beautiful way to look at life. I myself have been fighting cancer for 30 years (A.L.L) I'm deaf but can hear(ish) with a cochlear I just really wanted to thank you 🤟🌹
Emotional well being should never be overlooked. Feeling confident in one's mobility aid is essential to overcoming any preconceived notions or irrational stigmas put forth, quite unnecessarily, in society. Be who you are, feel who you are, live as you want. Comfortability, functionality, efficiency, and personality ... all reasonable in finding the right mobility aid for one's self. Enjoying the series, Jessica. Thank you so much. And congratulations on 600K subscribers. Yay!!! Go ahead and treat yourself. You've earned it! Take care. Lovely as always 👍🤟💝
Omg i was never so early ever on a video. But I just take the chance to thank you. This year wasn't the best. I discovered I have disease, which sometimes make my knees stop working and i cant walk so well. In the future I also probably need to get new knees xD But seeing your optimistic way of tackling life is contagious. So I just kinda accepted it and think about getting nice crutches for the days I'm not so mobil. Especially because I am sometimes unsure weather my disease is now a disability or not I was kinda scared of getting criticized for using crutches without any visible problems. Sometimes I don't even know if I should meet my friends because i dont know if i can walk the whole evening. But in the end it doesnt matter. Disability or not I still have a condition. I am so thankfull that you are so honest about your whole life, if disability or being very gay for your wife as well as historical information videos, which are very educational, as well as some nice vintage fashion videos. And btw I am lesbian as well and seeing you and Claudia just gives me a little hope that I will find a beautiful wife as well some day ^^ Being so extremly single for my past 22 years I sometimes just lose faith. So much love from Germnay
Hello! Before you go in for knee surgery, you should get a test to see if you are allergic to any metals. In America we call it A Metals Allergy Patch Test. You have to be super super careful about what you allow in your body. Having no metal in your body is always the best!
@@shalacarter6658 thanks for the information. Till now a surgery is not yet in discussion but probably in future, so I haven't had a proper talk about this with a doctor/surgeon. But I never thought that allergies can complicate surgeries (even tho it's obvious ^^'). But thanks again :3 And have a nice day or evening ^^
I HAVE A VERY SIMILAR CHAIR and it does meet most of your needs- in fact, I'd say it meets all your needs to some level. It fits in the car (though it's 48lbs), it goes on uneven surfaces (but not through snow), it can be used indoors and outdoors, I use it to get on buses and subways and trains. I put a pink backpack on it and a purple bag on the armrest (so I can stick my phone and keys in it for easy access when I don't have pockets.) It's GREAT!
This looks like a great chair in terms of function and it sounds like you might be able to get seat covers and a paint job to make it your style! It’s not vapid at all to want something that will be an integral part of your life to also be aesthetically pleasing! People choose cars and bikes based on look and color the time. I’m so glad you were finally able to do this for yourself and I can’t wait to see the chair makeover :)
Hi Jessica, I am a new subbie of about 3 weeks. I am so delighted to find you. I love your YT videos and I have become a firm follower. I am a gay female, 69 years old, very disabled, have a partner of 33 years, who has her own serious health issues, and I bought an electric wheelchair very like yours and have never regretted it. Although it folds up in the same way it is still too heavy for me or my partner to lift. I have no mobility at all due to horrendous pain from an inoperable bulging disc at L5 and S1 that is constantly touching my sciatic nerve. I have had ME and Fibromyalgia for 31 years too so life hasn't been particularly good. We now have a car with a hoist in the back to lift my folded wheelchair in to the back of our Nissan Pulsar. In the past we have had a Kangoo car with a ramp in the back which I could drive and I could drive my wheelchair in to the back. We went from that to a VW Caddy WAV with ramp but my condition deteriorated and I found the Caddy too high to get in to without a lot of pain. So we tried the hoist and the Nissan combination. Unfortunately a short while after that purchase my partner had a bad time and developed heart failure and whilst scanning her chest they found her breast cancer from 11 years ago had returned in her spine. Following many admissions to hospital she is now much weaker than when we bought the Nissan and hoist. So we are going for a mobility car with an innovative ramp that my partner can lift up and down. Last year I was called in to apply for PIP from DLA which I was already on. We were both very relieved when I got higher rate mobility for 10 years along with middle rate for personal care. In 10 years I will be 79 if I live that long so we decided to go with Motability and a Citroen Berlingo WAV with the innovative ramp and five seats. The long seats in the back will be handy if we are anywhere and I need to lie down. Cons of this is, due to the lockdown, Citroen decided it needed money fast and sold the cars that the WAV conversion company had ordered, including my car! 😭. I tried the Ford Connect on Tuesday but that car is far too high for me to get in to. It's higher than the VWCaddy was. So I said I will wait for the Berlingo which they had reordered. It will take about 5 months in all to get it which will be December-ish. Too late for any trips to the country this summer. I just hope my partner is still well enough to come for trips out in the spring. Still, I love my instantly folding electric wheelchair that is a lot like yours. I bought it from a company in England who import them. Mine is known as a Freedom Electric wheelchair. It still hurts my left leg if out too long in it but so does everything else. I love my partner very much and it is like a waking nightmare that we are going through with my extreme pain and disability and her secondary cancer in her spine. The scans show it is stable and hasn't moved since they found it 19 months ago but it has left my partner with many problems like weakness, memory loss and fear. I pray for her all the time. So we live from Scan to scan. Watching your videos cheer me up a lot. You and Claudia make a wonderful couple. Enjoy your life together and fulfil as many dreams as you can while you are young. Disability seldom gets better. Claudia is a perfect wife to you and you are to her. My partner and I only met when I was 35 and she was 37. We so wish we had met long before I had gone through two emotionally abusive relationships. They can happen between two Lesbians as between man and a woman. Lots of love to you both xxxxxx❤️💐
I just found you today, a bed rest day for me. Tomorrow afternoon my power chair arrives! I'm so excited, but know I probably cannot take it out much the first couple of weeks as I've been so sick. But so excited to take my boys on field trips! And going to nature preserves!
I'm so glad you found d something that will work for you!!!! Congratulations!!! That is a big hurdle when you are making a big purchase, and it always seems to be that one thing you didn't expect to find that turns out to be right. Kismet! I can't wait to watch your final series video and see how you like it in person. Also, YES, a Pimp My Ride video in the new year would be fantastic!
I'm so glad you found a chair that meets your needs! I love how easily it folds up in the demo (I hope it's that easy IRL). It looks like it'd be easy enough to put slip covers over the headrest and chair cushion to dress the chair up when you want it to look different, too! I think you've found a winner! :)
redweathertiger two of my friends at dnd work with disabled people. I have chronic fatigue, ehlers danlos amongst other things, and on that day I could not walk very well and was super dizzy (thanks PoTS) and both of the, offered. They got ,e to the toilet and thankfully I could unzip myself, but they both stayed outside and chatted to me while I was going then one helped me back up and got me to washing my hands (he washed his too ). I'm thankfully not someone who has ever cared about privacy, mum called me her naked child heh. I have only been really chronically ill in the last 3 ish years. So I've been lucky that I don't care about privacy, otherwise I would be very uncomfortable.
JESSICA THANK YOU 🙏 The chair you chose looks perfect for my mom! She has MS, and we have a mobility scooter for her (that is actually awesome) but as her illness has progressed it would be much easier for her to stand straight up out of a chair instead of the slightly awkward side-climb into a scooter. This is WONDERFUL! Thank you. BTW, if anyone is curious the scooter is an EVRider from TranSport. It’s pretty awesome. We’ve gotten so many complements from flight attendants and nurses because of how well it works and folds.
I’m also going through this process almost simultaneously! I too have found to adjust my expectations, and realized that there really isn’t that “perfect” chair out there - yet! Can’t wait to see what you do with yours! Thank you for making this series.
It's so hard isn't it when you realise that. I'm looking for my 2nd one now as my first one is a good few years old and failing now after a few repairs etc. I feel almost as daunted as when I looked for my 1st one!
I'm glad you decided to treat yourself I dont think its treating yourself but if that's how you feel about it that's great looking forward to seeing your chair and pimping it lol I treated myself to a new attendant wheelchair in September for my holiday as the NHS one was uncomfortable so I got one I can manoeuvre a little bit by myself so now I can lock the toilet door and my husband doesn't have to stay in the room with me
I'm considering the same chair. In Canada its called the jazzy passport. I was going to suggest painting it. I want to commission an artist to do mine for me. Then clear coat it at an auto shop.
yes, auto shops have the ability to paint almost anything. And it can be less money to do. Refurbished antique furniture can be painted with an epoxy coat and it's stunning.
@@jenroses I had the Airhawk for two years and loved it. I don’t need to use a wheelchair all the time, but when I go to flea markets and such, I need it because I can’t walk those distances. I just recently upgraded to a chair very similar to the Electra and it is built more for the outdoors. It supports my weight better too. I also do have an electric mobility scooter that I use when I want to go on walks on trails with my mom or walk the dogs around the neighborhood. I also use the scooter at the local botanical gardens because it’s outdoors and it the scooter does better than my wheelchair with some slightly steep hills. So I use both and I’m happy with that decision. As to pimping, I have a bright purple chair and I have other personal touches.
Another option would be to buy a reconditioned/ex-demonstration model from a mobility aids company. They're cheaper than buying new. Or if you're mechanically-minded, you could get one from eBay or another site and do it up or adapt it for your needs. Advertise for a local art student to see what they can do. They can add it to their portfolio.
I work in a grocery store and I have seen soooo many types of mobility aids and I haven't seen an "ugly" one. Some are basic and some are so extreme that they can rise up quite a few feet. It's deffinatly a personal choice and what needs you have. Why not feel good about it, just like buying a car, in my opinion. Your video's just showed up about 2 weeks on my main page and I started watching. The first video was about your hands. I loved your humor, I was hooked. I have 2 minor chronic issues and yes I complain daily, not to others but to myself. It amazes me how you handle yourself even when you are pain 💜. When I'm in pain I get pissed off because sometimes doctors treat you like you don't know your own body 😡 I know I hurt daily, I know it's not what they think it is but yep trying another medication for week..... If it doesn't work then they will call the surgeon that did my emergency surgery a year and discuss the possibility of the pain being what I believe it is... UGH! Lol thank you for sharing your story, your life, your heart and Claudia with us, including your furry kids! So I think my point was going to be after my little rant is YES pimp out your ride and make it your own😊
Hello Jessica! I just wanted to let you know that I'm currently working on a project with my classgroup in college and we actually chose to do something with making mobility materials look prettier and fancier than just the grey and beige look by decorating different parts. You were my huge inspiration for this project idea and it's going very well so thank you a lot! x
I really hope that this chair is The One, AKA the Claudia of mobility aids! Best of luck with it, and looking forward to seeing the conclusion of this highly informative and amusing series!
I have really enjoyed and learned a lot from this series. Thank you so much for sharing this. I love the details of what is needed and necessary for you and how that is specific and where it extrapolates out to other searchers. This has been educational, entertaining, thought-provoking, and really a joy. Thank you for sharing! I'm SO excited to see the details of how the new chair works for ou!!!
I love you Jessica ❤ A friend who was really ill said to me once...." The body will do what it will....But I...I AM OK." Your spirit shiiiiiiiines THROUGH you xxxx
I'm so happy that you were able to find something that works for you. I'm not sure if you bought it through a health care company? When I bought my manual chair the company rep came to my house and adjust the arms, wheels and foot plates so that they were in the correct position. If you figure out a handbag trick please tell us - this is currently my biggest struggle. I have purchased the pickepacke based on Gems recommendations at wheelsnoheels. But it's not enough storage.
I love your confidence to use what's best for your body as and when you need! PLEASE do a video on dealing with negative comments/people accusing people of faking illnesses etc! I could really do with your words of wisdom right now xox
My dad worked st the va and helped people with wheel chairs for years. Dont be afraid to customize it even with a knife and duct tape, then pump it out with fabric.
At this moment I want Jessica to be perfectly happy with her new wheelchair more than anything else in the world. She's a beautiful incredible person and I adore her videos. Jessica, you make my life better.
My power chair comes next week and I am SO excited! The nice lady brought me a couple of options and I very much decided on the cool looking one lol. You don't need to justify your chair looking cool.
yay - i hope you enjoy your new mobility aide! I don't need one at the moment myself, but I did love learning more about the pros and cons of different choices, just for knowledge's sake. Can't wait to see you pimp it in the future
I just found your channel because I've been depression binge watching TH-cam (thanks PTSD) but you have made it hard for me to stay cranky. You are so bright and hilarious that I find myself giggling quite often during your videos! Thanks very much for the laughs and very candid discussions about themes I identify with (LGBTQ+ and disabilities). Much love from America!
Yay for chair! Looking forward to the "Pimp the heck out of the chair" video(s). :D Are there any links/videos to the panels you were on? Would love to watch them.
I have the same wheelchair. It's easy to fold (I can do that myself), I need help putting it up, but it is easy. It fits in car easily (but I can't lift it). It's great in supermarkets and malls. I have found, however, it gets a mind of it's own on slopes/ramps (as did the other 2, much heavier rear wheel drive chairs I've had). I've lost count of how many walls I've hit because the path sloped that way, or how many times my friend has had to hold onto the back to control my descent down a hill or prevent rolling into the road when going across driveways! I also found the leg room not sufficient (one leg doesn't bend fully), but I solved that with a gel cushion from Argos which effectively raises the seat. The downside to that is my feet no longer easily touch the floor, so can't be used as brakes/steering aids (hence hitting walls!)
I've contacted a company that makes a mobility aid / shopping cart which is small, and which I use as a rollator in my small UK home, and suggested how they can adapt that so that we can have small chairs for inside our homes. They seemed genuinely interested in the ideas and I hope they go forward.
Congratulations on finding the right wheels, Jessica! I am so looking forward to seeing the video when you pimp your chair! Very cute to see Tilly on your lap! And I loved how you talked your way onto the panel! Congratulations again on 600k subscribers! (611k already!)
I an Electric wheelchair and I had it since I was 5 and now 13 PS if you need a adjustment the NHS(Doesn’t listen to you unless you Can’t get into your wheelchair) Strongly recommend a power chair please feel fee to reply. But you got one I am so happy that you have helped your self.❤️❤️👏🏻👏🏻
I'm excited to see your chair that you picked! I'm also excited to see you pimp it up so that you like it! I'm glad you found one that works for you!! I also have scoliosis and I'm glad to have you represent us!
I decorate my walker pretty regularly. I’m smack in the middle of putting together my Christmas theme (I have mini twinkle lights for my walker As you do.) Can’t wait to see it and how it helps, and yes, I want to see how you decide to “Jessica-fy it. 🎉
I’m ordering one very similar and I’ll customise the frame with a bit of zebra print. These types are the best for out and about. From what I’ve researched.
I have one very similar to that and it has been the best thing I’ve ever purchased. I hope yours does for you what mine does for me: freedom, independence and getting things done even on bad days.
I'm so happy you found your chair, and especially that it can be painted to look as fabulous as it works! Thank you for including some of your panel clips, turns out I follow about half the people you were with. That was fun, too. I still open my email and give a little Yay! when it says you have posted. Yay!
Thank you so much Jessica. I have been trying to research on what mobility aid I will get in the future. I probably need it now but I am quite trepedatious about seeking out the necessary services to get one. I get around with my cane everyday and most days I am okay with that but on those days where I have to go do errands it is really a hassle to get back home. Now I know what to ask for. I looked into the scooter but realised that they don't allowed them on busses here. Which makes life difficult. Lots of love from Sweden.
I really hope you were able to check out the whill before making your purchase. It honestly checks so many of your boxes. I have RA, POTS, EDS, and other issues but I have little dexterity in my hands and I chose the more medical one. But, they do have a compact colorful customizable one. And it’s indoor and outdoor. I’ve done so much research myself I was basically an expert before I bought mine. Best of luck!
This is the dilemma I found myself in, there just isnt one with all the things needed combined and you have to compromise on something. TH-cam didnt notify of this video and I know I clicked the bell. They really are a massive purchase so it needs to be right.. I'm really looking forward to seeing you in your new power chair and how you make it yours. Thank you again for being so open and helpful and bringing awareness to the difficulties we face... hope some companies that makes these chairs take note and listen to what we need xxx
I absolutely love the hairdo with the red dress. Looks exactly like Ariel’s hair when she wears the blue dress when she’s human. Do you have a tutorial for it? Thank you!
Omg thank you for making me realize why I’m so open and sometimes fumble with my boundaries of sharing too much. When you have a disability privacy isn’t often something you are allowed and I never really thought that through. Light bulb.
For your handbag, you may be able to add some sort of hook onto the back or side of the chair. I know that wouldn’t be ideal, but it’s likely better than having it on your lap.

Please, please, PLEASE do a 'Pimp my Chair' episode! That sounds AMAZING!
Hehe like install a diet coke machine on the mobility scooter? Sounds fun!
2 ppl i see around town did that. one has a million stuffed animals all over, and the other person has a skull theme going on (and xmas lights that work on AA batteries)
There’s a TH-camr with a show called “Pimp My Wheelchair.” You could collaborate!
pimpin' ain't easy. 😁
I came here just to say that.
Thank you so much for your help and suggestions! I hope you’re enjoying the series so far ♥️
💕
It's really cool that it folds!
Jessica, thank you so much for sharing your experience on the search for a mobility device and the news that have chosen one. It was fun and informative to watch. I am looking forward to seeing how you 'pimp your chair" 💞👗👠👜

You are making me laugh about the other medical aids that you use; such as your crutches and wrist thingee.
This is an awesome suggestion
+
I completely agree and highly recommend sewing new covers with extra pockets etc🧵 You can also get the frame vinyl wrapped so you could get your crest design put on it 🤓🤗🤗
Agreed! We made side pockets with waterproof linings just in case it got damp or rainy outside. Trust me, having a dry spot when a cloud burst appears can be handy!
Me: *has a terrible day*
Jessica: * posts a video on the topic that doesn't interest me at all*
Me: *instant happiness bc I just love Jessie and I could listen to her talk about pretty much anything;;*
She just has that type of personality. She could talk about hammers for a half hour, and I will sit and listen attentively, and happily.

I love you and your office!
Oh wow! Thank you and all of your office for going above and beyond making sure to make it perfect for her 🤗🤗
the description of your office staff is heartwarming ! Of all careers, "caring" is a priority in medical work.
“The Power-chair version of Pimp My Car” I’m CRYING 🤣🤣🤣
So happy you found something that works for you!!!
haha we talk about this in our house too "pimp my crutches" "pimp my powerchair" etc heehee my instagram is actually pimp my permacath (which is my venous access line.
I love the red and green combination on you. It looks very festive.
Red and green is my favorite too!
@Organic Love ya
“Why do I need to justify wanting to look good” thank you for helping me realize my needs and wants aren’t silly.
I’m going to pimp my chair when I get one!
I haven’t even seen any yet, but I’ve already started looking at upholstery swatches...
Double check to see if that affects its warranty and stuff like that. It might make it not applicable.
Wow pimp my chair would be a great follow up series! You could make it look more attractive and maybe add a basket on the side or something that could hold your handbag.
definitely! there are loads of fantastic wheelchair and powerchair storage hacks. Love to see this as a series too :)
That little clip of the panel made me remember how much I love when Jessica disagrees with people 😂❤️
Hi Jessica, I just wanted to comment to say that both of my parents have been full time wheelchair users my whole life. They use backpacks looped over the handles of their chairs for added storage/handbag space - it's so much a part of their chairs I actually thought they were built in for years. Maybe if you found a cute backpack that could work for you and your awesome new chair too?
"I've gotten my voice back!" * voice is much more gone *
honestly super adorable lmao
Honestly, any video you do with Claudia is a joy to watch. Thank you for continuing to fight for your health, and representing women with disabilities with such grace and poise. You are a joy, and a treasure.
okay but being able to fold/unfold something quickly is SO IMPORTANT! who wants to spend 10-15 minutes getting annoyed at a chair not unfolding and potentially spoiling the whole outing? I know it's not the same but I've nannied several kids who had prams and buggies that were absolutely impossible to unfold and it's not very nice standing behind your car, potentially somewhere where there's traffic, and not being able to use the thing you need. congrats on your big purchase! xxx
These fold like 10x easier than a pram. I've never had a pram that folded as smoothly as this (then again I've never had a pram that cost $3000, so)
Hi I am becoming a devoted follower. You have a beautiful way to look at life. I myself have been fighting cancer for 30 years (A.L.L) I'm deaf but can hear(ish) with a cochlear I just really wanted to thank you 🤟🌹
Jessica accumulated such a loving, wholesome and supporting audience! It really warms my heart every time to read the comments T_T
I'm so happy that you found the right thing for you! Looking forward to seeing it in action
Well congratulations for finding something that will make you happy. You certainly deserve it!!! You are a truly lovely lady.
Also, I plan to personalize my chair with my own art.
Are we all going to yell at Jessica that a mobility aid is NOT a treat?
You DESERVE it! You need this, Jessica! ❤
Can’t wait for the Pimp My Power Chair edition!!! And the break in intro/outro are excellent!
i love the brief discussion of privacy! and working that out with a partner who hasn’t necessarily negotiated that before.
redweathertiger two of my friends at dnd work with disabled people.
JESSICA THANK YOU 🙏
The chair you chose looks perfect for my mom!
Jessica, I can't wait to the customization you'll do in the new year. I think a nice pastel colour or a neutral off white would really suit you.
ARGH!! Love you and your vids and your dogs and everything! You are such an incredible person thank you for sharing your incredible life! xx
Thank you! x
I'm glad you decided to treat yourself I dont think its treating yourself but if that's how you feel about it that's great looking forward to seeing your chair and pimping it lol I treated myself to a new attendant wheelchair in September for my holiday as the NHS one was uncomfortable so I got one I can manoeuvre a little bit by myself so now I can lock the toilet door and my husband doesn't have to stay in the room with me
i'm so glad you found something that (hopefully) works for you!!
I'm considering the same chair. In Canada its called the jazzy passport. I was going to suggest painting it. I want to commission an artist to do mine for me. Then clear coat it at an auto shop.
Also look at the Air Hawk. I have a larger, similar chair, the Electra HD. It's a little lighter than the Jazzy.
I know this was very long ago but did you wind up getting the chair? I’m looking into it as well but can’t find it on the website.
@@sbjade9812 unfortunately I haven't yet. Its still on my list. With covid its been hard to have appts to test one out prior to buying it.
yes, auto shops have the ability to paint almost anything.
I can't wait for 'Pimp my Powerchair'! I bet my mom would be interested in having her walker and/or cane painted too.
So I think my point was going to be after my little rant is YES pimp out your ride and make it your own😊
Tilly at 1:23 is all I needed to be happy today ❤️
My fur baby ❤️ she loves to sleep like that ha ha
Hello Jessica! I just wanted to let you know that I'm currently working on a project with my classgroup in college and we actually chose to do something with making mobility materials look prettier and fancier than just the grey and beige look by decorating different parts. You were my huge inspiration for this project idea and it's going very well so thank you a lot! x
I really hope that this chair is The One, AKA the Claudia of mobility aids! Best of luck with it, and looking forward to seeing the conclusion of this highly informative and amusing series!
That smooth transition cut for the ending, I love it!
And I'm so happy you found something fitting your needs ! Yay !
I love you Jessica ❤
A friend who was really ill said to me once...." The body will do what it will....But I...I AM OK."
Your spirit shiiiiiiiines THROUGH you xxxx
Been refreshing all day.
Love this series!
Congrats on finding something that works for you!
Congrats! You definitely deserve this!!! Hope this new power chair gives you everything that you need!!!!
Thank you so much lovely clubbie!!
You're very welcome! 🥰
I am so excited to see you take your chair in to get painted, those lads will be so thrilled to help
What a sporty powerchair! Congratulations on your purchase. I'm so excited to see what new adventures you will embark on with it.
I think they do a variety of sizes. Or you could try Amazon.
SO delighted you've made a decision and have found something that meets many of your needs, especially after such dedicated hard work! Hurrah!
Congratulations Jessica, I am so happy for you for both your new purchase and 600,000 subscribers!
You can get hooks to go on the back of the chair you have chosen to hang your bag from. Usually found in pushchair accessories but they are fab!
Jessica, Jamie, and Noah all on a panel together, 3 of my favorite people!
❤❤❤❤ I'm so happy you purchased yourself a mobility aid. I work in rehabilitation and this is the coolest chair I've ever seen💜💜
Congratulations! I hope the new chair is everything that you wanted!
Yay for chair! Looking forward to the "Pimp the heck out of the chair" video(s). :D
Are there any links/videos to the panels you were on? Would love to watch them.
So happy for you! Glad you found what you needed and I’m looking forward to the next video! 💖
I’m so glad that you’ve found something for yourself!! And a super congratulations on hitting 600,000!!!!!
I have been going back and forward about getting a power chair ... now I want/ need one for sure!
Thanks for all your insights and doing this.
I love how you always look so stylish, i wish i could rock the same looks
I an Electric wheelchair and I had it since I was 5 and now 13 PS if you need a adjustment the NHS(Doesn’t listen to you unless you Can’t get into your wheelchair) Strongly recommend a power chair please feel fee to reply. But you got one I am so happy that you have helped your self.❤️❤️👏🏻👏🏻
I'm excited to see your chair that you picked! I'm also excited to see you pimp it up so that you like it! I'm glad you found one that works for you!! I also have scoliosis and I'm glad to have you represent us!
Jessica darling! I'm so happy you've settled on a chair! You DO deserve independence!
Your dress flowing in the wind was majestic ❤️
So excited for pimp my wheel chair! Glad you’ve found something that you’re excited about 😊💚💚
I decorate my walker pretty regularly. I’m smack in the middle of putting together my Christmas theme (I have mini twinkle lights for my walker As you do.)
Can’t wait to see it and how it helps, and yes, I want to see how you decide to “Jessica-fy it.
Congrats on your new power chair!!! 🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳
Why don't you have more subscribers. You're so incredible. I love your humor.💜
Thank you!
You're such a happy soul it warms my heart
I am so happy you found the best fit for your needs. Enjoy your new mobility aid (once it arrives)!
I’m looking forward to “Pink My Chair”! Good to see your smile! I know it’s been hard to decide/find one!
Omg thank you for making me realize why I’m so open and sometimes fumble with my boundaries of sharing too much. When you have a disability privacy isn’t often something you are allowed and I never really thought that through. Light bulb.
That foldable power hair looks exciting! Can't wait for a video about it because that might be a thing one of my friends could use too.
I loved every second of this video! And that chair looks so clever! Congrats, Jessica 💕
The Foldawheel is incredibly similar to the chairs I've been looking at and tossing up between so this video was incredibly helpful, thank you!
For your handbag, you may be able to add some sort of hook onto the back or side of the chair. I know that wouldn’t be ideal, but it’s likely better than having it on your lap.
